Chapter 16 - UNEXPECTED REVELATIONS

After the defeat of the Mushroom Boss, our heroes decided to wander a bit through the Mushroom Forest. The dappled sunlight filtered through the oversized mushrooms, casting long, dancing shadows that played tricks on the eye. As they ventured deeper, the air grew thick with the earthy scent of damp soil and decaying leaves. It was then that Haytham, ever the observant one, strayed slightly from the group.

His gaze had been caught by an anomaly, something that didn't quite fit the natural chaos of the fungal woods. Pushing aside a curtain of broad, slimy leaves, he discovered a strange structure, almost swallowed whole by the relentless embrace of the vegetation. It looked like an old hatch, embedded directly into the loamy ground, a relic reclaimed by nature's persistent tendrils of vines and a soft, green carpet of moss. It bore the silent testament of years, untouched and unseen.

"Hey! Guys, come look at this!" Haytham's voice cut through the quiet rustling of the forest. Curiosity piqued, Saland, Shimmon, and the others followed, their footsteps soft on the damp earth. They gathered around the moss-covered portal, exchanging puzzled glances. Before anyone could utter a question or reach out a hand, the world twisted around them. One moment they were standing in the dappled shade of the mushroom forest, the next they were engulfed in an overwhelming, sterile whiteness.

They found themselves in an enormous room, bathed in the cool, unwavering glow of countless monitors that lined the walls. Strange, humming devices sat on gleaming metal tables, surrounded by an array of tools they couldn't quite identify. The air hummed with a low, constant energy. Then, a voice echoed from above, smooth and cultured, carrying a hint of amusement.

"Welcome to my laboratory, my dear children."

Their eyes snapped upwards, drawn to a raised platform that overlooked the main floor. There, bathed in the soft light of the room, sat a woman. Her attire was stark: a crisp white lab coat that seemed to absorb the light, contrasting sharply with her sleek, black hair that framed her face, stopping just above the nape of her neck. White-rimmed glasses perched on her nose, adding an air of intellectual sharpness, while polished black heels peeked out from beneath her crossed legs. She sat regally in a swivel chair, one leg elegantly resting over the other, a knowing smile playing on her lips.

Her voice, when she spoke again, held a note of pride. "My name is Sharon, and I am the creator of Bruhsuperdoom."

A wave of shock rippled through the group. Bruhsuperdoom. The name conjured images of chaotic power and near-unstoppable destruction. Saland's eyes widened in disbelief. Before they could formulate a coherent response, Sharon continued, her smile softening slightly. "I am one of the two most intelligent scientists among the admins, but… let's just say our research into glitches was deemed…unorthodox. We were banished."

Saland, ever the pragmatist, finally found his voice. "How do you know us?"

Sharon's gaze seemed to pierce through them. "I have watched you the entire time… through Bruhsuperdoom's eyes. You have made significant progress since your first encounter with him. But now… a far greater threat looms. Null is menacing this world. And so, I will offer you my assistance. Perhaps this is my way of atoning for my… creations."

A collective nod passed between the heroes. Haytham, his initial surprise giving way to his usual sharp intellect, stepped forward slightly. "What kind of information do you possess?"

Sharon's smile returned, a hint of something calculating in its depths. "I know the location of Null's base. The very place where he is amassing an army of glitches. But… the information is sensitive. I need to transfer it to a secure drive for you to take with you."

Shimmon, usually the most lighthearted of the group, couldn't shake the weight of Sharon's earlier revelation. His brow furrowed with concern. "Why? Why would you create such an… evil being like Bruhsuperdoom in the first place?"

A shadow flickered across Sharon's face, a brief moment of regret. "Bruhsuperdoom… was meant to be an anti-glitch weapon. A safeguard. But… he absorbed too much raw energy, his systems overloaded, and he… went rogue. I had to seal him away. And when you inadvertently released him… I was powerless to intervene directly. The other admins… they would have erased me entirely from the VR WORLD if they knew."

As she spoke, a faint crackling sound filled the air. Blue sparks danced between Sharon's outstretched hands, coalescing into a tangible energy. Her gaze softened as she looked at them. "Until we meet again, heroes."

With a final surge of energy, the white room shimmered, the air crackled, and Saland and his companions found themselves blinking in the familiar light of the mushroom forest, standing exactly where they had been moments before the unexpected teleportation. The moss-covered hatch remained silent, unassuming.

A stunned silence hung in the air. The sheer volume of information they had just received was staggering. Null. A hidden base. An army of glitches. And the woman, Sharon, the creator of the very being they had fought so hard to defeat, now offering her help.

After a long moment, Saland broke the silence. "We need to process this."

Nods of agreement rippled through the group. The encounter had been too sudden, too surreal. But one thing was clear: the stakes had just been raised. And they had a new, albeit enigmatic, ally.

"Let's… let's come back in a few days," Haytham suggested, his mind already racing, piecing together the fragments of information. "We need to know more."

The others concurred. The mushroom forest, once a place of immediate threat, now felt like a temporary sanctuary, a place to regroup and prepare for the larger battle that lay ahead. The secrets hidden beneath the mossy earth had just opened a new, and far more dangerous, chapter in their adventure.
