I was drowning
in a sea of paperwork, my mind racing with the weight of responsibilities. As
Mr. Jax's assistant, I had been shouldering the workload of both Managing Director
and Assistant Manager for four gruelling months. The lack of recognition or
compensation for my efforts was suffocating. It was time to take a stand and
discuss a possible promotion or salary increase.
I began to
rehearse my conversation with Mr. Jax, carefully crafting my words to convey my
value to the company. I scribbled down my thoughts on a plain sheet of paper,
my hands shaking with anticipation.
"Hi, B-boss... I mean, Mr Jax. I-I wanted to, uh, talk
to you about my role and responsibilities within the company. I've really
enjoyed my time as Assistant Manager and, you know, appreciate the
opportunities I've had to grow and learn.""Over the past three
months, I've, uh, taken on additional responsibilities, essentially managing
the day-to-day operations of the company, in addition to my Assistant Manager
duties. I've, ah, successfully handled some projects, like... uh... that big project
we finished last month."
"I-I believe my hard work and dedication have, you
know, positively impacted the company, and I'm proud of what I've achieved.
Given my expanded role and responsibilities, I-I feel that my salary should be,
uh, adjusted to reflect my contributions.""I'm hoping we can discuss
a possible salary increase to... um... 50%. I believe this is a fair reflection
of my value to the company and will allow me to, you know, continue delivering
high-quality results. "I-I know this might seem like a big ask, but...
uh... I really think I've earned it. I've been, you know, working really hard
and taking on a lot of extra responsibilities. I-I just want to feel like my
salary reflects that. "I'm open to your thoughts and feedback on this matter.
I'm confident that we can, uh, work together to find a solution that benefits
both me and the company.""Thank you for, uh, taking the time to
discuss this with me. I look forward to your response and continuing to, you
know, contribute to the company's success."
Just as I
finished writing, my office door swung open, and Mr. Jax strode in, his
expression stern. "What's that you've got there?" he asked, his voice
firm.
I hesitated, my
heart racing before handing over the paper. He scanned it quickly, his eyes
narrowing as he read. "Wait behind during lunch," he instructed, his
voice brooking no argument. "We have a visitation from 'The Big 4 group'."
I tried to
speak, but he cut me off with a fierce look. "You stay back!!!" His
tone sent shivers down my spine. Maybe today wasn't the best day to discuss my
concerns.
But I had a
date with Ham, and I was excited to see him. I reached for my phone to call
him, only to realize I didn't have his contact details. Urrrrrrggghhhhh... this
was too frustrating.
Just as I was
about to give up hope, I remembered the meeting with "The Big 4
group." Woooooooooow..... yes!!! My excitement surged, and I quickly began
preparing for the meeting.
I checked my
time and saw that I had just seven minutes to get ready. I grabbed my bag,
adjusted my makeup, and smoothed out my hair. It was time to show Mr. Jax that
I was more than capable of being the Managing Director.
As I entered
the conference room, I felt a sense of pride and confidence. The group from
"The Big 4" looked at me with admiration, and among them, I saw a
face that looked eerily familiar.
There was
something about that man who sparked a memory from my childhood. I pushed the
thought aside, focusing on the meeting at hand. "Good day, everyone,"
I said, taking the seat, Mr. Jax offered.
The meeting
continued, but my mind kept wandering back to the familiar face. Who was he,
and why did he seem so important to me? As the discussion progressed, I found
myself drawn to the mysterious stranger, my curiosity piqued.
Little did I
know, this meeting would change everything, setting off a chain of events that
would lead me down a path of discovery, romance, and transformation. The
familiar face would become a key player in my journey, and I was about to
uncover secrets that would alter my life forever.
As the meeting
with the Big 4 group came to a close, I felt an overwhelming sense of pride and
accomplishment. I had done a great job presenting our marketing campaign, and
the group's feedback had been invaluable. Mr. Jax thanked everyone for their
input and insights, and I couldn't help but feel a sense of satisfaction
knowing that I had contributed to the company's success.
But little did
I know, Mr. Jax had one more surprise up his sleeve. He called a general
meeting, and the entire office gathered around the conference table. I wondered
what was going on, but Mr. Jax just smiled and began to speak.
"I want to
take a moment to recognize the hard work and dedication of our team," he
said, his voice filled with sincerity. "And in particular, I want to
commend our Assistant Manager on a job well done."
My heart
skipped a beat as Mr. Jax looked directly at me, a smile on his face.
"Your efforts have not gone unnoticed, and I'm proud to announce that
we've won the contract with the Big 4 group!"
The room
erupted in cheers and applause, and I couldn't help but feel a sense of pride
and accomplishment. We celebrated with a bottle of champagne, and I felt like I
was on top of the world.
But as the
celebration continued, I couldn't help but notice that Mr. Jax didn't mention
anything about a promotion or salary increase. I had been hoping for some kind
of recognition or reward for my hard work, but it seemed like that wasn't going
to happen.
The thought
left a vacuum in my heart, and I couldn't help but feel a little disappointed.
I pushed the feeling aside, though, and focused on the celebration. We were all
having a great time, and I didn't want to ruin the mood.
As the
celebration came to a close, I remembered that I was supposed to meet Ham. I
wondered if he would still be there, waiting for me. I snapped out of my
thoughts when Sarah jumped on me, screaming congratulations and hugging me
tightly.
I smiled back,
trying to hide my confused feelings. We concluded the celebration, and I took a
lunch permission from Mr. Jax. He permitted, and with so much excitement, I set
off to meet my new lover.
As I walked out
of the office, I couldn't help but feel a sense of anticipation. What would Ham
say when he saw me? Would he be proud of me for winning the contract? I
couldn't wait to find out.
I quickened my
pace, my heart racing with excitement. I was ready to put the disappointment of
not getting a promotion or salary increase behind me and focus on the positive.
After all, I had a date with Ham, and I was determined to make it a memorable one.
