I went to bed, right after Clara's demeaning question, unable to believe my ears. Even though I have noticed a lot of changes in Clara's recent behavior, I was taken aback by her question.
Does she really think I am having an affair with Leonard? After my experience with him at the hotel?
While Clara believed my sadness was about my pregnancy, it was mostly about my inability to conceive again. It was pointless to worry about the pregnancy when I had decided to keep it, without Leonard's knowledge of course.
I laid down tiredly on my bed, but sleep did not come, so I let my mind wander, and explore other possibilities, and a sudden thought hit me.
What if I agree to a marriage of convenience with Leonard, and with my new influence as Mrs Litt, take my revenge on Clark.
