Chapter H - 3
Vol D - 1
Her, when she was 14
There was this one time she took me on a peaceful walk. She walked slowly, and I walked beside her, matching her steps.
Suddenly, one of her close humans — friends, I think they're called — came running toward us. I don't know what she said, but whatever it was made my master a little angry. Her brows furrowed like they do when I chew her slippers.
She started running. Fast. I followed her, of course.
We ran and ran until we stopped just a few steps away from a wheat field. She turned her head, and in the distance, two more humans were doing something strange. I didn't understand what they were up to, but she did.
She stormed toward them, her steps heavy and loud. Then — wham! — she slapped one of the humans right across the face.
"So this is the loyalty you promised me?" she said before running back home.
I didn't understand her words, but that slap was loud enough to speak for itself. The other human — the one not slapped — ran away too. I think it was a human-to-human conflict. Very complicated species.
At the time, I had a girlfriend. Brown fur, a muddy smell that always got me wagging. We'd hang out whenever I was let out to play. Her sense of humor made me laugh, even though I never really knew what she was barking about. That's love, I guess.
It's been four months since I last saw her. I hope she's just busy. I even checked her favorite human's house today — she wasn't there. But her human gave me a treat, so I didn't leave empty-pawed. That old lady is kind.
I wonder if my master gives treats to other animals too. I wouldn't mind, as long as she leaves some for me. Sharing is caring, right?
One day, my master brought me to a place filled with food — all sorts of it. Human food, meat, even things I didn't recognize. But one thing caught my eyes — something hot and steamy that looked like it could solve every problem in the world.
I stared at it like it owed me money.
My master eventually gave in and bought it for me. I know I might've gotten him in trouble — or maybe not. He looked happy giving it to me. And it was delicious. There was meat inside… juicy, magical meat.
My humans often throw balls or random sticks and just… stare at them afterward. I think they lose their minds sometimes. But when I bring the object back, they smile or give me a treat, so I keep doing it. Easy trade.
There was this one time my master threw a giant ball into the water. I tried to fetch it… and nearly drowned. That thing was heavier than my lifespan.
