Chapter 29 - Chapter 29: The Pursuit

The story was just beginning to unravel. Ethan's past was no longer a ghost in the background—it was alive, pulling at the strings of their present. And Mia knew that whatever came next, she had to decide whether her love for Ethan was strong enough to withstand the danger that was creeping in from the shadows.

What had Ethan really been involved in? What was Veronica's connection to all of this? And most importantly—how far would Mia go to protect the life she was building with Ethan, no matter the cost?

The mystery of Veronica's disappearance was no longer just a mystery from the past—it was the puzzle piece that held the key to everything. Mia couldn't sleep. The message that had arrived on Ethan's phone rattled in her mind like a constant drumbeat, echoing louder and louder with each passing minute. "You can't run from your past," the words

rang in her ears, and the more she thought about them, the more the entire situation seemed to spiral out of control.

Ethan was pacing in the kitchen, his face tight with stress. He had called a few old contacts, but the information was scarce. Veronica had vanished without a trace, and now, it seemed like there were people who wanted answers—and they were willing to do anything to get them.

"I have to go," Ethan said, finally breaking the silence. His voice was determined but filled with underlying worry. "I need to find out who's behind these messages, and why they're targeting us."

Mia stood up, her heart heavy. "I'm coming with you.

Ethan turned to her, his face softening with a mixture of love and concern. "Mia, no. It's too dangerous."

"I don't care," Mia said firmly, stepping closer. "This involves me too now. These people... whoever they are, they're not just after you—they're after us. And I need to know everything. I'm not sitting here while you're out there alone, facing whatever's coming."

Ethan hesitated, clearly torn. "I don't want you to get hurt."

"I'm already in this, Ethan. We're already in this," she said, her voice quiet but resolute. "Whatever comes, we face it together. We're stronger that way."

After a long moment, Ethan nodded. "Alright, we do this together. But we need to be careful. I don't know who we're dealing with, and I don't trust anyone outside the circle of people I've known from my past."

Mia swallowed her fear, realizing that the life they had built was about to be shattered by whatever lay ahead. The truth about Veronica—and Ethan's involvement with her—had only scratched the surface. But now, they were both in too deep to back out. There was no going back.
