.....

Kwak Jichang had never been particularly interested in life.To him, everything came too easily.Studies weren't a challenge, sports were second nature, and even looking good was something he did without trying.

Life felt like a bland, black-and-white film—mediocre and distant. Something he merely existed in, not truly lived.

But that all changed the day he met him.Apollo, he called himself—eyes as dark as an eclipse, a presence that somehow added color to Jichang's monochrome world.

He remembered the fight with the former King of Seoul—a man strong in both stature and skill. A seasoned boxer.

At first, Jichang had been helpless, tossed around like a ragdoll. He hadn't expected to feel much about it. But something changed that day.

His heart began to race.

Thump.Thump.Thump.

Excitement. For the first time, he felt alive.

His body, which should've crumbled under pressure, found strength. And that was when he took his first step forward—on his own path.

That was the birth of the Snake of Seoul.

"Dodge this!" Apollo shouted from above.

Jichang looked up. A silhouette against the sun—a leg descending toward him with brutal speed.

His legs tensed. He knew if he took it head-on, it was over.

He prepared to evade, strategies forming like sparks.

Use the dust to feint.Leg sweep, then strike when he's off balance.Shift left, draw him into an opening.

Plan after plan, flashing in milliseconds. But he knew. He was weaker than Apollo.

He wasn't a fool. He could tell Apollo was holding back—using only Taekwondo, likely for a reason.

And yet... it happened again.

Thump.Thump.Thump.

That rush. That thrill.

Once again, Jichang had found someone stronger—and for all his arrogance, he was competitive.

There's only one path now... get stronger, or lose, he thought, grinning at the incoming strike.

After all, he was Kwak Jichang. He held himself in the highest regard.

BOOM.

His body shifted, arms forming hand blades as he twisted mid-motion—slithering like a serpent.

His path.

Using his momentum, he redirected the strike. Apollo's leg missed by inches, slamming into the ground.

But Jichang faltered.

The sheer force behind the attack made his knees buckle."What strength," he muttered, staggering back.

Dust clouded the field. Blood dripped from his hands and forehead.

Even redirected, the leftover force had injured him.

If I hadn't deflected it… I'd be done for, he thought, the corners of his lips twitching into a grin.

He was having fun.

He coiled his muscles, then burst forward.

Apollo's strength came from torque and spins.Jichang's came from something else—like a snake unraveling from its coil.

Boom.

Apollo was sent flying, tumbling across the ground until his fingers clawed into the dirt, stopping himself.

He got stronger, Apollo thought, barely able to breathe.

And Jichang gave him no time to recover. He was on him again.

His fighting style's evolving… Apollo narrowed his eyes.

He twisted, narrowly dodging a horizontal strike that sliced the air itself.

"Shit," he muttered, sweat dripping down his temple.

In a flash, he spun into a back kick—his leg cutting the air as it moved to intercept Jichang.

But then—

"Huh?"

His eyes widened.

Jichang redirected it. Again.

Using his hand blades, he cast Apollo's back kick into oblivion like it was nothing.

He's refining it…Before Apollo could even react, another strike slammed into his gut.

He went airborne—again.

Skidding to a halt, blood poured from his mouth.

Am I… losing?

His fingers dug into the ground.

He'd expected a tough fight. But not this.

He thought he was closing in on a new threshold of speed. But right now, it wasn't even close.

The only one improving was Kwak Jichang.

"Stop holding back, Apollo."

Apollo looked up.

Jichang stood over him, gaze sharp—not mocking, but disappointed.

Why's he looking at me like I've already lost?

A chill ran through him. That same heavy feeling from his past—the weight of failure—came crashing back.

Am I… still the same?

All this power, all this talent, and yet… had he really changed?

"I see now, Jichang," he muttered, rising slowly.

Jichang tilted his head, listening.

"I didn't fight for myself before… I let myself be a failure. But now…"

His gaze sharpened.

"I won't ever accept defeat again."

Blue light shimmered in Apollo's eyes. He stood tall, firm.

"I'll give it everything I've got."

Jichang nodded. He could tell it was personal—something tied to Apollo's past.

But that's what battlefields were for.To shatter weakness and forge something stronger in its place.

Apollo raised his hand, gesturing him forward.

Jichang obliged, launching forward, his body snapping like a whip.

Then—

"Was this how you did it?" Apollo asked under his breath.

In the next moment, he twisted into a similar stance—Jichang's stance. But instead of hands, he used his legs.

Twisting. Coiling. Redirecting.

Effortlessly.

Jichang's eyes widened.

He copied it… just like that?

Apollo's shin struck the earth, and the force dissipated like it was nothing.

Then, he leapt.

Spinning in midair, his body rotated multiple times—his signature movement.

Jichang stood ready to block, but then he heard it.

"Your technique and my rotations… just how much force would that create?"
