At this time, a male voice with an accent came from outside the tunnel.
"If you don't want your friends to be harmed, you'd better put down your weapons and stop resisting."
"Don't even think about it. If we put down our weapons, what difference is there between us and pork on a chopping board?" Aiden wasn't stupid, so there was no way he'd agree to that request. He immediately shouted loudly.
Then, he started to murmur in his heart. 'That accent sounded kind of familiar, like it had a bit of an E-style pronunciation. Who is this person?'
"That's right, putting down weapons is undoubtedly the most foolish action. I completely agree with your opinion."
Just as Aiden was recalling characters from the plot, that voice rang out again. While agreeing with Aiden, it also said, "Unfortunately, you have no other choice, because the initiative is in my hands."
At this point, the person in the middle of the three at the tunnel entrance gestured to the side. Then, two fully armed soldiers pushed a woman forward.
"You can't possibly abandon your companion, can you?" That person continued, "I saw it clearly on the surveillance, this is your weakness."
"You're right, this indeed is my weakness." Aiden sighed. He recognized the woman being pushed out as Ada. Shaking his head, he threw his pistol to the ground, then raised both hands and walked out of the tunnel.
Seeing Aiden's actions, Claire was a bit dissatisfied, but she had no choice. She held onto Sherry and followed behind him. However, she vaguely saw Aiden seemed to hide something in his sleeve.
'So that's how it is...' Claire's eyes lit up slightly. Then, she slipped her pistol into Sherry's waistband and covered it with her jacket.
"You should've given us a heads-up, at least said something. I can't handle surprises this big." After walking out of the tunnel, Aiden shouted and complained loudly to Ada.
Ada innocently blinked at him and said, "I wanted to, but there were dozens of guns pointed at us at the time. We couldn't do anything. Unless you wanted to see our corpses."
Aiden smiled bitterly and helplessly, then looked to the roadside and saw Jill and Leon kneeling there. Their hands were tied behind their backs with zip ties, and there were quite a few UBCS soldiers with guns standing nearby.
Among those UBCS soldiers, Aiden also spotted a very special person. This person was wearing a special gas mask, had a very strong build, and was playing with a specially made vial containing a purple liquid.
'Grim Reaper Hunk.' Aiden realized who he was, and also recognized what was in the vial in his hand. The G-virus.
'Didn't expect him to be here too.'
Aiden was very confused. He remembered that Grim Reaper Hunk left Raccoon City after obtaining the G-virus. Why would he appear here?
Shifting his gaze away from Hunk, Aiden finally looked toward the white-haired man speaking to him and thought, 'No wonder there's an E-style accent. So it's him.'
This white-haired man was none other than former SL Colonel: Sergei Vladimir. The current commander of the UBCS, and also the original model of nearly all Tyrants, a very powerful "person"?
"Your eyes tell me that you seem to know who I am." Sergei crossed his arms, watching Aiden with great interest. Behind him stood two strong men wearing gentleman-like hats. No need to guess, they were clearly the specially made Ivan-type Tyrants created from his genes.
Aiden certainly wouldn't admit it. He shook his head, "I studied E-language for a while, so I could tell from your accent that you're from the E-country."
"Is that so?" Sergei got even more interested. He asked in E-language, "You're from the Z-country?"
Aiden nodded and also responded in E-language, "Always have been."
Sergei heard the implication in Aiden's words, and his expression immediately turned cold as he said coldly, "Aren't you also working for the M-country people?"
"I'm just a tourist." Aiden shrugged and emphasized again, "If you have time, you can go check my entry records."
"You think I'd believe that?" Sergei said with disdain, "A tourist who can take on and defeat a Nemesis, pilot a helicopter with stunt maneuvers, and is proficient in various weapons? Not even ghosts would believe what you say."
He said all of this in Y-language, so Ada and the others looked over at Aiden.
"You don't believe me, and there's nothing I can do about that, but I really am a tourist." Aiden felt helpless. Why does no one believe the truth?
Sergei snorted coldly and waved his hand, "We'll figure out your identity later. For now, you need to come with us. My boss is very interested in you…"
"Sorry to interrupt. Can I ask a question?" Aiden raised his hand to signal.
Sergei frowned but still nodded, "Go ahead."
"Why is your boss interested in me?" Aiden really wanted to know. Could it be because he stood out too much? But all he did was drive away a Nemesis. Every main character here could've done that.
"I'm not sure either." Sergei shook his head, then ignored him and turned to Hunk, "What about them?"
He pointed at Jill and the others.
Hunk didn't say anything. He just put the vial into a special case, then made a throat-slitting gesture.
Seeing that gesture, Aiden became tense and pressed the arm with the hidden card against his chest.
Claire also silently took a small step behind Sherry.
Sherry was just a little girl, no one searched her. And Claire wasn't that old either, so the UBCS soldier guarding her didn't pay much attention to her actions.
However, just as Aiden and Claire were about to counterattack, a gunshot rang out.
Immediately afterward, a UBCS soldier guarding Jill and Leon fell to the ground clutching his chest.
Seeing the shot-down soldier, everyone froze for a moment. Their gazes all turned toward the tunnel, including Aiden and Claire. One's muscles were fully tense, and the other had already gripped a handgun.
"Enemy attack!"
Finally, a UBCS soldier who reacted shouted, and then, bang! Another gunshot sounded, and he too fell.
At this point, Umbrella's people completely panicked and scattered instantly. Then, they began to show their own abilities. A wide variety of tactical maneuvers were put on full display.
Except Sergei, who naturally adapted to the T-virus. He remained standing in place. Even Hunk dove and rolled behind a tree as thick as a barrel.
"Great opportunity. Go!"
Aiden and Claire exchanged a glance and moved at the same time.
Claire drew the handgun hidden on Sherry, half-squatted while holding her, and fired two shots, taking down two UBCS soldiers aiming at Jill and Leon, then rushed toward Ada with Sherry in her arms.
Ada had already been ready to act when the gunshots started. As Claire approached her, she had already taken care of the soldier guarding her.
Grabbing the soldier's gun, Ada shot while covering Claire and glanced toward Jill's side, only to see Jill and Leon using hidden knives to cut off their zip ties, roll beside fallen soldiers, and pick up their weapons to fight back.
At the same time, gunfire from inside the tunnel continued. With their group's counterattack, a fifth of Umbrella's soldiers were wiped out instantly… (A/N: felt like a movie scene)
On Aiden's side, it was a different scene. The moment he moved, he had already targeted Sergei. He immediately leapt and kicked toward him, but one of the Ivan-type Tyrants stepped forward and blocked it with a punch. A fist as hard as steel and with incredible strength made his foot sting.
However, Aiden wasn't discouraged. Using the recoil, he leapt three to four meters back, then flipped his wrist and revealed a card.
He pressed the card to his forehead and silently activated it in his heart. In an instant, a huge amount of indescribable information flooded into his mind. His eyes turned incredibly resolute, as if something inside him had been unleashed. He could even hear the sound of his blood flowing and his heart beating.
[Activating special card: First-level Gene Lock Trial Card. Duration: five minutes. During the active period, all body functions are greatly enhanced. No side effects after it ends.]
The system's neutral electronic synthesized voice, which he hadn't heard for a long time, rang again in his mind. Aiden felt the surging power inside him, confidence rising. Then he bent his legs slightly, pushed off with force, and shot toward Sergei like a cannonball.
The Ivan-type Tyrant once again blocked in front of Sergei. It raised its massive fist, trying to repeat the previous move.
But Aiden wasn't going to clash head-on. In the gene lock state, his control over his body had leveled up significantly. While still mid-air, he twisted his body in an unnatural way and narrowly dodged the punch, then slammed straight into the Tyrant's chest.
Crack!
The sound of bones breaking echoed from the Tyrant's body. Its massive form was thrown seven to eight meters away like it was hit by a truck. Its chest visibly caved in.
"How is this possible?" The always stone-faced Sergei showed a shocked expression, murmuring in disbelief, "Impossible. How could a human reach this level?"
"Could it be… he's also…" Sergei suddenly understood why his superior wanted to capture Aiden.
"Capture him. Dead or alive." Sergei waved his hand and gave the order to the other Ivan-type Tyrant.
"Roar!"
The second Ivan-type Tyrant let out a roar and lunged at Aiden, swinging a fist bigger than a pot.
They were very close. Aiden hadn't even landed properly when he saw the massive fist coming at him. He couldn't dodge, so he gritted his teeth and went all in.
He clenched his fist and struck straight at the Tyrant's. He was going to go punch-to-punch with it.
One large and one small fist clashed with a booming sound. Instantly, both arms burst with blood mist, and if you listened closely, you could hear bones creaking under the strain.
The clash sent both sides flying. The Tyrant crashed to the ground but quickly got up again. Aiden, on the other hand, balanced himself mid-air, stomped the ground as he landed, and, ignoring his trembling arm, charged toward Sergei again.
But the Tyrant from earlier was back. Its chest injury hadn't taken away its combat ability. It crossed in front of Sergei once more.
"Damn it, that insane healing ability." Aiden cursed and quickly retreated.
He knew clearly, if he didn't deal with these two Tyrants, he couldn't threaten Sergei. But these two were Ivan models. Though perhaps not the strongest in brute force, they had intelligence nearly equal to humans and could coordinate well. With just the gene lock, it'd be tough to break through by brute force.
And even if he beat them, it might not help. They could evolve into super Tyrants, which were even harder to handle.
His mind racing, Aiden turned sharply, abandoned the Tyrant in front of him, and rushed toward the corpse of a UBCS soldier.
He caught an M4 rifle kicked up with his foot, raised it, and shot a UBCS soldier in the head. Then he turned and fired again, blasting out one of the Ivan Tyrant's eyes.
With his enhanced physical stats, Aiden's strength and reaction speed far exceeded normal humans. What others wouldn't even dare imagine, he could do effortlessly.
Seeing the Tyrant clutching its head and halting, Aiden prepared to repeat the trick and shoot the other one's eye.
But that Tyrant had good intelligence, it immediately covered its eyes and charged at him.
Aiden had no choice but to take a few magazines from the soldiers, stuff them into his pocket, and then move while shooting.
Bang bang bang...
One magazine emptied, that Ivan-type Tyrant wasn't affected much, but a large number of Umbrella's soldiers around it fell.
The current Aiden was like someone who had activated a gyro cheat in a shooting game, able to perform any shooting move beyond normal human comprehension.
He could always shoot in ways others couldn't even imagine. There was no angle where one could dodge him.
The remaining alive soldiers were scared out of their wits by this scene, gathering around Hunk, slowly retreating toward the forest behind under his command...
"Hmph! A bunch of trash!"
Seeing his subordinates being forced to retreat, Sergei snorted coldly. He was just about to order the one-eyed Ivan-type Tyrant to give chase and help out, but that Tyrant suddenly blocked his path.
Bang!
A large-caliber bullet hit this Tyrant, blasting a fist-sized hole in its chest.
Sergei frowned and turned to look at the tunnel. For some reason, he seemed to see a pair of yellow eyes inside the tunnel.
