Chapter 5 - CHAPTER 5: Acceptance and New Beginnings

The soft morning light filters through the trees, casting a warm glow on the forest floor. Mia stands alone lost in thought. The reality of her situation is sinking in, but she's still struggling to come to terms with it. The Pokémon around her—Audino and Chansey—wait patiently, their presence both comforting and surreal. Mia's mind races as she contemplates her next steps.

[FOREST – MORNING]

Mia stands still for a long moment, trying to shake the fog from her mind. This isn't a dream. This isn't a coma-induced hallucination. She's somewhere else. Somewhere that doesn't make sense, but is real in every way that matters.

She takes a deep breath and exhales slowly, looking down at Audino and Chansey.

"Okay, Mia. Think. What do I do now?"

She said softly, more to herself than to anyone else

Her heart tightens as she thinks about her family. Her mother. Her father. Were they worried about her? Were they searching for her? How could she get back? Could she ever get back?

Her thoughts spiral, but she takes another deep breath, shaking her head to refocus.

' I need to survive. That's the first step'

She thought while firmly clench her fist.

Her gaze shifts toward Audino, who stands calmly beside her, his large ears twitching in curiosity. She'd been so focused on the fact that she wasn't alone in this strange world, that she hadn't fully thought through what this meant for her relationship with Audino.

Some entity brought me here... maybe rewarding me for my heroic act, then gave me some stuff, identification, and specifically a Pokémon.

She couldn't ignore the nagging feeling that someone, or something, had intentionally placed her here. Why else would she have an ID card. The kind of ID that marked her as someone who belonged to this world—someone who lived here, had a life here. It was as though her presence had been woven into the very fabric of this reality. And then there was Audino—why else would she be given a Pokémon like him, if not by design? It seemed like too much of a coincidence for all these pieces to fall into place.

She looks at Audino for a long moment, biting her lip.

She carefully, unsure of how to phrase it

"Audino… Are you supposed to be my Pokémon? "

The words feel strange leaving her mouth, like they don't fit with the reality she's come to accept. But Audino simply looks up at her, his large, innocent eyes locking with hers. He tilts his head for a moment, then slowly nods, as if understanding exactly what she's asking.

AUDINO nodding firmly while saying "Audino dino."

Mia's breath catches in her throat as the weight of his words hits her. 'He's my Pokémon'. She thought. She closes her eyes for a moment, trying to wrap her head around it.

She inhale deeply then exhale

"Haaahh, okay… I guess you are, then."

This is something the stories she used to read, yet it's happening to her. Still, she feels a small sense of reassurance. Audino, is with her in this situation.

Mia stands tall, brushing the leaves from her pants. Her stomach growls loudly, reminding her that she needs to eat. The reality of this new world is sinking in, but she still needs to survive, and that means making some practical decisions.

'I need to find civilization. But… first, food.'

She scans the forest around them. It's still quiet, the trees casting shadows as the light gradually brightens. Her eyes land on a small cluster of berries growing nearby— a small, round fruit with a vivid blue color. It has a slightly shiny, smooth surface, giving it a fresh, almost polished appearance.

Smiling slightly

"Look, berries. That's a start."

Mia crouches down and picks some of the berries. Looking at the berry, it look similar to a blueberry.

Lets just hope its edible.

Holding them out to Audino and Chansey. Audino immediately picks one up and takes a bite, while Chansey gently nudges another berry toward Mia as if offering it to her.

Grinning appreciatively

"Thanks, Chansey."

She smiles, taking a bite of a berry herself. It's sweet and tangy, and she feels a little more relaxe and energize with each bite. The Pokémon seem content, eating beside her, and it brings her a sense of peace that she didn't know she needed.

After a few minutes, Mia stands, ready to move forward. She glances at Audino, then at Chansey, who both look at her expectantly.

With newfound resolve

"Let's go, then. We need to keep moving."

She turns to walk forward, and Audino follows her at once, keeping close. But as she watches the two Pokémon, she makes a decision. She reaches down to the Pokéball at her side—one of the empty Pokéball.

She hesitates for a moment, but with a deep breath, she holds it out in front of Chansey.

"Chansey… do you want to be my pokemon —?"

'Well if she didn't want to it's okay i already have Audino can't be too greedy to...'

Before she can finish her thought, Chansey happily bumps the Pokéball with her rounded body, almost as if she's offering herself to be captured. Mia stares in surprise. She hadn't expected Chansey to be so willing.

With a "Click" Chansey was absorbed in the Pokéball with few wobbles it finally settled.

Mia smiles warmly at Chansey's Pokéball and released her.

"Now, can you show us the way to town Chansey?"

Chansey's eyes sparkle with joy, and she bounces on her feet, as if to say, "Of course!"

Laughing softly

"Alright then. Let's go."

Mia continues walking, and Chansey trots beside her, the sound of her cheerful footsteps filling the air. Audino stays close to Mia, his calm presence a quiet reassurance.

She said to herself, but aloud

"It's just the three of us, now."

With Chansey on the lead, she and Audino following, Mia steps into the unknown, ready to face whatever challenges this new world might throw at her.
