Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: Guilty Until Proven Innocent Part 3

"What? Confess? Are you serious? You mean you actually did do this?" Mr. Harley asked, perplexed by what he was hearing.

"Of course that's not what I mean. I just wanted to admit that I found this whole situation pretty embarrassing." Peter said.

"Oh, um, okay." Mr Harley replied, unsure of how to respond to what Peter was saying. "What exactly do you mean by that?"

"Well, for starters it sucks that I'm going to go to jail for crimes I didn't commit. But that parts not really a big deal."

That part's not a big deal? It seems like a pretty big deal to me." Mr. Harley thought.

"The real embarrassing part is that people are going to think the technique used to kill those people was my Razor Edge technique, when it was clearly a poor knock off."

"What are talking about?" Mr. Harley asked with a spike of surprise in his voice.

"Well, you can tell from shallowness of the wounds that the guy delivering the blows had enough grip strength, but not enough arm strength. He had to keep ripping these guys until they bled out. My Razor Edge could kill a guy in a single blow, unlike this wimp." Peter said. As he finished speaking, Mr. Harley slashed him in the chest and blood sprayed from his wound as he went face first into the ground.

"How dare you speak down to me you worm?" Mr. Harley said.

"I-It was you?" Peter struggled to say.

"Yes, it was me. Of course this information won't do you any good after I finish you off." He said as he wiped the blood off his hand. "How fortunate I was to find someone else who had the same ability as me that I could pin these murders on."

"How are you going to explain this to the others? They'll know you killed me?" Peter said as he struggled to get back to his feet, though he was unable to do so.

"It's easy, I'll say it was self defense. I'll used my pocket knife to cover up the wounds. Between a high ranking attorney, and an unsavory individual like yourself who do you think they would believe was the aggressor in this situation?" Mr. Harley asked smugly.

"But what about the cameras?" Peter asked still unsuccessful in getting back to his feet.

"Oh, they're conveniently down for maintenance today. That was a favor I called in with buddy of mine here at the precinct. Of cone has no idea what for. You see this is the difference between true genius, and a muscle headed brute like yourself." Mr. Harley said as he raised his hand to finish Peter off.

"Y-You really- You really- You really gave it all up so easily! What a tool!" Peter said as he was crying laughing hysterically.

"What, what do you mean?" Mr. Harley asked confused how Peter, who seemed so weak and unable to move a second Agnew seemed completely fine.

"I've been playing you like a fiddle you moron!" Peter said as he jumped effortlessly back to his feet. He then pulled an audio recording device out from under his shirt. "The FBI has been listening to this whole conversation."

Just then, a team of FBI agents came in and placed Mr. Harley under arrest. Samantha then went up to Peter to see if he was ok.

"How's that wound? We should get you checked out immediately." She said.

"Oh this? It's just a scratch, it's no big deal." Peter said as he flexed his chest muscles to close the wound.

"Anyway, how did you figure out the it was Harley that was the real murderer?" Samantha asked.

"It's easy, I checked that list and that guys name was on it. Then when I talked to Brian I had him check the list of victims. At first glance there was no connection between them."

"But when you dug deeper they were all people who upstaged Harley in some way." Brian said finishing the sentence as he entered the room.

"Exactly. Given that information, I figured I could trick the guy into admitting to it if I taunted him a little. Though I have to admit I didn't think it would be that easy. Guy must have a really bad inferiority complex." Peter continued.

"Well, in his defense I know first had how annoying you can be." Brian said.

"You say that, but you must have really trusted him to set this thing up with him. After all, it could have tanked your career if you accused an Attorney General of being a serial killer and was wrong." Samantha said.

"It's nothing like that. I was just returning the favor of him saving my life. But with this we're even now got it?" He asked Peter.

"I don't think it really does but I never cared that much either way." Peter said shrugging his shoulders.

As the three were wrapping up their case, a plane from China landed at JFK Airport, and as a woman got off the plane she said, "Peter, it's time for you to make good on your promise from all those years ago."
