"Pick up, pick up, pick up!" I said scared that he wouldn't answer. Then I heard a click.
"Drakklin what's wrong?" My half-awake Father asked can tell that I was scared. I choaked back a whine.
"Dad, I made a mistake I need your help." I said as I put the cellphone on speaker.
"Drakklin start from the beginning." My father said with a calming tone. I took a deep breath and explained everything from the package, to learning how to use my runes, to Port-au-Prince, to talking with Father Time. I explained it all to him so he would get the bigger picture.
"What town are you in now?" My father asked as I heard him grab the keys.
"Auroville Ks." I said as I heard him open the door.
"I will be there by morning, breath son it will be okay, I love you." My father said as he hung up. "I love you too Dad." I said as I cried for the first time since Haiti. Den tried to use calming magic, but the runes stopped him.
"Runic are you okay?" Den asked as I heard footsteps
"Hey boss you, okay? Grathu asked as she walked down in her true Demon form wearing her emo pjs. I looked at her tears running down my face.
"Does it look like I am okay?" I asked as I broke down more. Grathu try to hug me, but Den stopped her. "The runes would hurt you Grathu." Grathu didn't care and hugged me as the runes reacted. I heard her wince in pain.
"Grathu no you shouldn't hug me!" I said panicked. She didn't care she held me. I managed to push her away from me.
"Den heal her please." I said worried as I looked at the burns on her skin.
"Grathu why did you do that?" I asked as I looked at her getting healed. I saw her to an awkward smile at me. "You looked like you needed a hug."
I did a chuckle as I heard a knock on the door of the shop. I walked to the door as I saw Officer Mia. I opened the door as I looked at her worried.
"Officer Mia what is it?" I asked seeing her looking upset.
"There are new buildings in town and guards at the entrance at the buildings." Officer Mia said as I grabbed my Trench coat and walked out.
At the building I could tell that they were Deities building. The first one is golden and cream color. Clearly heavenly or paradise. The second one was plan and earthly looking which told me they were made for the Deities that called earth their home. The last one was dark and colors of red and oranges that made it look like it was on fire. There were skulls on pikes and smells of smoke and ash. The three kingdoms of the afterlife.
I walked up to a guard and told them. "I am Runic and this is Officer Mia, are we allowed to enter?" The guard that was Norse bellowed. "No mortal shall enter the holy lands, even one as powerful as you are Runic, now leave before you pass on."
We walked back to the cruiser. Once inside I smacked the dashboard a few times and felt myself getting overwhelmed for once.
"Drakklin calm down it will be okay." Officer Mia said as I looked at her seeing that she was scared but surprisingly calm.
"How old are you Drakklin?" Officer Mia asked as I looked confused.
"I am twenty-eight why?" I asked as I saw her thinking.
"How long have you been Runic?" Officer Mia asked as I sat there
"Since I was around twenty-three so about five years." I answered as I looked at her. I could tell as I looked at her and saw that the wheel where turning.
"You have been a Runed Exorcist for five years and the Gods thought you would understand that you would follow the rules without mistakes, but that's not how humans work, you are human and trying your best." Officer Mia said with passion that caught me off guard. It was that moment that a guard from the paradise building walked up and ripped the door of her cruiser off. They heard everything. The Gods were pissed.
"Mia Chanti you shouldn't questions the Gods!" The guard in Viking armors. Without thinking I bit my finger and used my blood to write a rune of protection on Mia. She had a barrier. The guard reached as he tried and touch her, but her barrier pushed him back. I jumped out of the cruiser and touch a few runes to make a runed blade appear. The blade of the reaper is what I called it. Don't know the real name of it. The bade was a claymore but not as heavy. The runes glowed as I stood there. The runes on my skin glowed as well.
The guard stepped forward and stood over me.
"Step down mortal don't interfere with otherworldly business." The guard bellowed. The blade of the staff shined bright in the light post.
"Leave my partner alone!" I shouted as I lifted the blade up. I saw Officer Mia get out of her cruiser and stand back. I looked at the guard and shouted. "We are allowed to question the Deities!" The guard rushed at me. I rushed at it ready to fight.
