Chapter 18 - MEANWHILE…

There was an ongoing shouting and argument coming from Mr White office. The remaining staffs stood behind the door listening to the person inside exchange words.

"I told you he can't be here because he was in a coma! Is that too hard to comprehend! You want him here after all the explanation, huh?" Habib said. I was so pissed right now.

"Well you can cover for his unprofessional shit but I'm not buying it! And I don't care if he needs to fly to get his ass here by tomorrow. I'd find a replacement before he knew it. I don't even like seeing his face around in the first place, he managed work because I couldn't fire his ass and now he has given me an advantage to exploit," Mr White unintentionally spit his words out. The people at the door gasped at the revelation, although it was known to everyone that both Steven and White despise each other but hearing it from White mouth was even more shocking.

"Umm… you know what, You've always been a pathetic man. I just got to know how disgusting you are now." Habib spat back at White leaving the man with a shocked, surprising look as he walked out of the office, colliding with the eavesdroppers. Who gave him an uneasy nervous smile.

Habib's phone rang and he picked it up. "Yes, doctor?.... What?! What do you mean their bodies are gone?!" Habib didn't receive whatever the doctor just revealed very well. "I'm on my way now!" Was his last statement before running to the hospital.

In the speed of light he reached the hospital in no time. He spotted Doctor Eric waiting anxious outside.

"Come with me," the doctor said before they entered.

The inside was in ruin. The ward's doors were broken to the floor. Equipment was scattered around. The nurses were able to stabilize the patients after the assault.

They finally reached the secure ward where both Steven and Gabriel were. The place was turned upside down. It was like damage caused by a fight.

Habib was restless and was pacing up and down like a sea wave. Doctor Eric was sweaty and he wasn't at peace as Habib. Eric was about to speak to Gabriel's family .

"How did it happen, doctor?" Antonio asked. He moved past bitch Habib and Eric to peep into the ward to confirm himself. He was downcast when he saw there was nobody in the ward.

"Please tell me this isn't true!" His wife murmured in her solemn voice, holding a handkerchief to wipe her tears.

Habib can't comprehend why all of this was happening.

"Are there any other patients missing aside from Steven and Gabriel?" Habit inquired and Eric shook his head in negative.

"None was apprehended." He said.

"So you mean whatever that came here only came for the two patients in this place and turned blind eyes to the one above?" Habib affirmed.

"This is crazy. It doesn't make any sense. Why would they come for our boy? What do they want with the unconscious bodies?!" Antonio swears something he rarely does, kicking the broken door in anger.

"Something is fishy and I'm certain the doctor knows about all of the foul play of kidnapping." Gabriel's mother put the blame on Eric. She grip the doctor on his coat. "Confess now the agent of the devil! What do you need my son's for?" She was compelling with an aggressive tone. Eric couldn't break free from her. Doctor Eric tried explaining he has no hand in what happened but the woman wouldn't listen. Antonio gently approached his wife and let his wife free the poor doctor that was being accused.

"I know he knows something. I can feel he knows something," she kept repeating and crying.

"So what about footage during the raid? You guys have the camera that will capture the criminals," Habib asked but Eric was silent for a while, not knowing what to say.

"Humm, the security is jammed and the footage is deleted," He revealed. Habib sighed in disappointment. "Whoever did this left no trace."

Habib walked around the ward's corridor with his gaze fixed on the floor. He later entered the ward room where he hadn't been since his arrival. He inspected the scattered beds. He spotted a drop of purplish liquid in the floor very close to one bed and a broken glass.

"Hmm! What's this?" He bent down to observe curiously. He carefully retrieved the stained glass and had a good look at it.

"Hey doc, can you hemm... run a quick check on this?" He said handing the glass over to the doctor. Eric brought out his eye glasses and wore them to have a better look at it.

"Are you just going to stand there all day doc?" Habib asked impatiently. The doctor nodded and walked away.

"Did you find anything? I saw you handing something over to the doctor," Gabriel's father approached Habib. Habib turned around to face the man who was looking like a wet sparrow. He took a deep breath before answering.

"Nothing really important... for now, but I hope it will be. There's no point hiding anything from you since we are in this together," Habib assured the man. He then spotted the devastated woman who was sitting by the corner. "I found something strange... a drop of blood, but it looks nothing like ours. Maybe one of the invaders had a blood color illness. Doctor Eric is running a test on it as we speak." He added, which somehow made Antonio a little relieved about the situation.

"I hope we could trace whatever that was here."

"We would, I assure you. It's just one step at a time," Habib affirmed before leaving the man's presence and walked out of the hospital to where there were many trees and sat on a concrete bench that was under them.

Habib was overwhelmed. Everything that has been happening for the past few days has taken a turn on him. First it was Steven in an unexplainable coma down to Mr White trouble and the disappearance of his friend. He wished someone would show up and explain all that had been happening.

From where he was under the tree's shade, he spotted someone gazing at him intensively.

"What the..." He stood up to look around if there was someone else around, but there was no one except for him. He began walking towards the person. When the figure noticed the incoming, it started running away towards the woods that was behind the hospital building. Sensing the figure was bailing, Habib increased his own pace and gave a chance at the figure. The runner seemed quite fast, but not compared to Habib's speed. He managed to catch up with it and stretch out his hand to pull the hood that was covering the figure's, exposing her identity. Seeing who it turned out to be, Habib gasped in surprise.

"It's you?!" He exclaimed in shock.

THE ARKON FACILITY

The Kr'ang were moving many unconscious bodies into a facility. The inside had many tubes with greenish substance filling them and the bodies were being put in these tubes one after another.

The Nemesis was watching as the servants were doing the work, but when a particular body was about to be placed in the tube - Steven's body - he commanded them to stop, not to put the body in the place but his own facility for safe keeping.

"He's mine!" He murmured with a devilish wide grin as the body was moved away.
