Anne stood outside Ethan's parents lavish home, her heart raced. She had made the decision to confront them with the truth knowing fully well the storm it would unleash. When she knocked on the door, it swung open revealing Ethan's mother ," yes who are you? and how can I help you?" she said. " I'm Anne ma and I'm Ethan's classmate. I have something serious to discuss with you as it relates to Ethan. Please may I come in?"
Once inside, she wasted no time, lunching into the revelation that Ethan was gay. The air thickened with disbelieve as his parents exchanged glances, their expression shifting from confusion to anger. They had plans for Ethan - a perfect engagement to a girl from a family whose wealth and influence matched their own .
To fuel their fury Anne said," I saw kai and Ethan heading towards kai's house." The mention of Kai seemed to ignite a fire within them. Without a moment of hesitation they decided to go see for themselves with Anne leading the way.
Meanwhile, in the privacy of kai's room, the atmosphere was electric. Ethan and Kai were lost in each other, their bodies entwined in the moment of pure intimacy but the blissful moment was shattered as Ethan's parents burst through the doo. The sight before them was one they never expected: Kai on top of Ethan, both caught in a moment that would change everything.
Ethan's mother grasped, her face paling as she stammered," I hope that's not my son screaming like that with you on top of him." The shock of the moment froze everyone in place, eyes wide in disbelief. The reality of the situation crashed down on them like a wave.
" Get dressed Ethan, we're leaving," his father commanded, his voice cold and filled with disappointment. Ethan opened his mouth to protest but his father cut him off, the finality in his tone, leaving no room for argument," I don't want to hear anything. Don't make me repeat myself."
Kai, paralyzed by fear, struggled to find his voice. His heart raced, not fir himself but fir Ethan who looked shattered. He fumbled to dress, desperation clawing at him as he glanced at Ethan's parents who were now a wall of judgement and anger. The security guards stood between Kai and the exit, preventing him from reaching out to Ethan of which Kai could single handedly kill them but for the sake of Ethan he withheld himself . He just watched as Ethan was taken away from him.
Ethan's father ordered that kai's parents be found by his best workers, in due time the information was given to him which shocked him as they were his business clients. Out of anger, he called Mr Davis, after two rings he picked up," hello Mr Smith, it's good to hear from you again," Mr Davis said. " What's good now?" Mr Smith said clearly angry. Mr Davis was confused," what's the problem Mr Smith." " The problem is that your good for nothing son has been committing a sin under my nose. He has been destroying my son. Listen , I want to tell you that I have decided to cancel our deal, I can no longer work with a father who clearly didn't raise his son well. I won't let your son destroy mine," he said and cut the call not allowing Mr Davis to say another word.
The weight of the world seems to crash down on Kai as hus parents burst through the door, their faces etched with a mixture of shock and fury. "What happened sweetheart?"kai's mother, her faced laced with worry as she bent down. Kai's father however was consumed by rage," what are you asking him for?" he roared , his voice blooming through the house. " Didn't we tell him to stay away from that boy? Now look what it has cost me. I have lost the biggest deal of my life."
Kai's eyes widened in realization. The "deal" his father was referring to was the lucrative project, a deal that has been meticulously crafted for months. He felt more sad than before. " Dad, it's my fault," his voice choked with emotion. " Ethan's parents saw us.....they saw us together ." He recounted the event of the evening.
Kai's mother disappointed that he hadn't heeded to their warnings , couldn't help but feel the pain. She pulled him close, offering comfort and solace. " Oh, my darling," she murmured, her voice filled with sympathy. " I know this is hard, but we'll get through this together."
Ethan's heart pounded against his ribs like a trapped bird, each beat echoing the silence that hung heavy in the air. His father's icy gaze, devoid of any warmth or understanding felt like a physical weight on him. He tried to beg his dad," Dad, please it's all my....." " Shut up your mouth," his father's voice boomed, arresting the remaining words in his mouth. " How could you be so ungrateful? I never gave birth to a gay. I'm your father and I'm not gay, so no son of mine would be gay."
The words pierced Ethan like shards of glass, each syllable a fresh wound on his already shattered soul. He felt his heart was being crushed under the weight of his father's rejection. Ethan's mind raced, trying to make sense of the torrent of emotions that washed over him. He knew his father loved him but his love seemed to be conditional, contingent upon Ethan conforming to his expectations. The thought of losing his father's love, if being ostricized from his family, filled him with a primal fear.
As they walked into the house, his father said," you're grounded," his father barked, snatching his phone from his hand so as to prevent him from reaching out to kai. " You not going anywhere without my permission, do you understand?" Ethan nodded numbly, unable to speak, his constricted with a mix of fear and heartbreak.
He was alone, trapped in a cage of his father's disapproval, of his dreams and his future hanging by a thread, his heart a fragile vessel, teetering on the brink of despair.
