Chapter 35: Chu Feng – Dean, I Want Equal Treatment for the Miscellaneous Dao Academy
"Chu Feng, how can you be so disrespectful in front of the dean?"
The Sword Martial King stepped forward, scolding in anger.
He was becoming more and more displeased with this kid named Chu Feng.
If not for this brat, Xiao Chen would already be his disciple.
The rising star of the younger generation in the Wendao Academy, and he belonged to their Sword Dao Academy!
The more he thought about it, the more irritated he became. If not for the dean and all the higher-ups present, he would've dragged Xiao Chen away by force.
Chu Feng smiled and said, "Senior, are you… jealous of me?"
"You!!"
The Sword Martial King's fury ignited at once. A burst of Nirvana Realm pressure radiated from him unintentionally.
If looks could kill, Chu Feng would've been ripped into pieces on the spot.
Yet Chu Feng didn't flinch in the slightest under the pressure—his face didn't show even a hint of pain.
This was it?
This was the Sword Martial King?
He had thought the man would be stronger.
'I've only cultivated for 120 years, and you can't do a thing to me.'
'Seems like this old guy has only cultivated for around 200 years at most.'
Chu Feng's guess wasn't wrong. The Sword Martial King had cultivated for just over 200 years and was still one step away from reaching the Half-Saint Realm.
Moreover, Chu Feng had already achieved full mastery of the Divine Body. The pressure this man gave off didn't even tickle.
Still smiling, he said calmly, "Could it be, senior, that I hit a sore spot?"
As the saying goes: what's unbearable must be stopped.
The Sword Martial King could no longer suppress the killing intent rising in his heart, but just then, the dean stepped in and said:
"Enough. Both of you say no more. There are still disciples watching."
"You are both leading figures of my Wendao Academy—don't bring shame upon us."
The Sword Martial King grumbled inwardly: 'This brat's not qualified to be compared with me.'
The dean turned to Xiao Chen. "So, you've decided to stay and cultivate in the Miscellaneous Dao Academy?"
"I ask for the dean's approval."
Xiao Chen's gaze was filled with sword intent, his eyes showing not a trace of hesitation.
The dean smiled. "The Wendao Academy has always embraced all paths, all thoughts. You are free to cultivate wherever you wish."
"However, the current state of the Miscellaneous Dao Academy does not match your status."
The moment he said this, the heads of each academy, who had already given up on recruiting Xiao Chen, felt a spark reignite in their hearts. Each one looked at the dean with gratitude.
Xiao Chen was just about to speak, but Chu Feng stopped him with a glance.
The dean continued, "In my opinion, if you insist on staying in the Miscellaneous Dao Academy, then it must be granted an extra core disciple quota."
"Otherwise, if word gets out that our academy gave an outer sect status to someone with an awakened Divine Body, we'll become a laughingstock."
"Many thanks, Dean!"
Xiao Chen hadn't expected the dean to offer him such favorable terms.
The dean scanned the room. "Does anyone object?"
"We have no objections," all the academy heads responded in unison.
Since the dean had spoken, there was no point in going against him—it would only incur his displeasure.
"I object."
A young voice suddenly rang out, making all the higher-ups frown.
The Sword Martial King was the first to react, turning toward the one who had objected—Chu Feng.
"How dare you question the dean's decision!"
"Xiao Wu."
The dean uttered just two words, and the Sword Martial King immediately turned docile and stepped back.
The dean now turned his attention to Chu Feng.
"Xiao Feng, tell me—what's your reason for objecting?"
Chu Feng said, "Dean, this disciple has no objection to Chen'er becoming a core disciple of the Wendao Academy. What I object to is you giving the Miscellaneous Dao Academy only one core disciple quota."
"After all, the Miscellaneous Dao Academy doesn't just have one disciple."
As soon as those words fell, all the academy heads present—except for the Profound Flame Alchemy King—gave Chu Feng unfriendly looks.
Though they didn't speak, their eyes clearly said: Don't push your luck, kid.
The dean chuckled. "So what you're saying is… that little fellow being roasted in the fire over there might awaken a Divine Body too?"
Inside the fire cave—
Cao Youqian's heart surged with excitement upon hearing the dean's voice.
He had been cultivating peacefully, and then suddenly his senior brother stirred up a scene this big.
So many bigwigs had come over—didn't that mean everyone was going to find out that he cultivated without wearing clothes?
Just the thought of it made Cao Youqian extremely depressed.
Chu Feng replied calmly, "I don't dare claim Divine Body… but with Da Qian's talent and effort, awakening a Sacred Body should be a sure thing."
Hiss…
Many of the high-ranking elders instinctively drew in a cold breath.
The Sword Martial King could no longer take it. This kid was going way overboard with his bragging.
"Kid, you think Sacred Bodies are like cabbages? Anyone can awaken one?"
Many of the academy heads nodded in agreement.
Even the dean gave a subtle nod—but he was still curious whether Chu Feng, this little troublemaker, could pull off another miracle.
Chu Feng smiled and said, "Senior, how about we place a bet?"
The Sword Martial King froze. "Bet on what?"
"Whether Da Qian can awaken a Sacred Body."
Chu Feng's face was full of confidence.
The Sword Martial King was just about to accept, but then noticed the dean shoot him a glance.
He didn't understand why the dean was stopping him, but he didn't dare disobey.
"Hmph! I have no time to play childish games with you."
"Then I ask that Senior refrain from pointing fingers here." Chu Feng's tone was calm, but his words carried a subtle sharpness.
The Sword Martial King was so angry he nearly stomped on the ground. He clenched his fists and silently backed into the crowd.
Damn Chu Feng. When I get the chance, I'll make you kneel and apologize!
Just then, the dean stepped forward and said, "Granting special privileges to the Miscellaneous Dao Academy is out of the question. But I can offer it the same treatment as the other academies."
"As long as a disciple breaks through to the True Fate Realm, they can obtain an inner sect position. How does that sound?"
Chu Feng immediately bowed toward the dean. "Many thanks, Dean."
The dean smiled with interest. "Very well. I'd also like to see just what kind of stir you can cause in the Miscellaneous Dao Academy."
With that, he turned to the others and said, "Alright everyone, the matter here is settled. Let's head back."
"Yes, sir."
The elders all responded in unison and followed the dean away.
Only after they had flown far from the Miscellaneous Dao Academy did the Carefree Sword King speak up. "Master, isn't it a bit too generous to give the same treatment to the Miscellaneous Dao Academy as the rest of us?"
The dean smiled and said, "As long as he can nurture more outstanding disciples, isn't that enough?"
"And besides, the Miscellaneous Dao Academy only has two disciples. No matter how good they are, could they really outshine the Eight Great Academies?"
Hearing this, all the academy heads went silent.
