018: The Awakening of Viridian Power!!
"Don't get ahead of yourself. Don't get cocky. I've only just awakened the Power of the Waveguide it's untrained, unfocused, and not yet suitable for battle."
Ash muttered sternly to himself, suppressing the thrill pounding in his chest. His fingers, still slightly trembling from excitement, curled into a fist as he steadied his breath.
He had transmigrated into this world a second life, born into the Pokémon universe not just as any child, but as Ash Ketchum, fated protagonist and bearer of an immense destiny. With the "Mega Trainer System" installed in his soul and now two distinct Psychic bloodline abilities Waveguide and Viridian his beginning could only be described as extravagant.
And yet… he was afraid. Not of the world but of himself.
"I can't afford to waste this start. I have to stay grounded, stay cautious, and protect everything I've been given."
He had indeed awakened the Power of Waveguide, but had not yet trained it beyond entry-level perception. No aura spheres. No combat constructs. At this moment, even stepping into the wilderness unguarded was tantamount to suicide.
With his current stats his physical strength weaker than a fit adult he probably couldn't even handle a wild Caterpie in a straight fight, let alone feral Spearow or aggressive Weedle. And if an Ekans or Beedrill came across him? It would be over.
"At this stage, I'm still fragile. Slow, deliberate development is the smartest path forward." Ash reminded himself while checking the internal status of his newly awakened second force.
The Power of Viridian often miscalled "Tokiwa no Chikara" in old regional translations had awakened simultaneously during Calm Mind, and now its information gleamed vividly on his personal Attribute Panel.
With the feedback from the system and cross-referencing system notes with his manga and anime knowledge, Ash now had a clear picture of this ancient, forest-born gift.

Unlike other psychic bloodlines such as Bird's telepathy, Chaoke's foresight, or even Yulong's draconic empathy the Power of Viridian was bound to place, not lineage. It wasn't passed down through blood but gifted through proximity granted only to children born within reach of the Viridian Forest's mystic heart.
That forest untracked, unspoiled, sprawling across the Kanto-Johto border was one of the last remaining primal territories of the Pokémon world. No highways. No capture zones. Only legends and the occasional brave Ranger dared enter its deeper paths.
And those born under its boughs like Ash were sometimes marked with its blessing.
This power, though lesser-known than psychic abilities like Sabrina's telekinesis, was no less miraculous. Though it had fewer categories of ability than Waveguide, each effect was potent in its own right:
---
The Four Gifts of the Viridian Power:
① Healing Touch – A passive flow of restorative vitality. With focused intent, the user can close wounds, soothe pain, and stabilize injured Pokémon without tools or machines.
② Natural Affinity – An aura of trust. Pokémon, especially those of forest or natural origin, sense no hostility from the user. Skittish wild Pokémon will approach. Angry ones may calm. Communication and empathy deepen without effort.
③ Purification Source (Root Vitality) – Over time, the Trainer's proximity and aura can subtly cleanse and nourish a Pokémon's body enhancing its talent ceiling and improving its long-term potential.
④ Willpower Blessing – In moments of battle, the Trainer can extend their spirit into their Pokémon offering bursts of strength, clarity, or resolve. A spiritual "buff," this effect manifests as a glow or pressure, pushing Pokémon past their usual limits.
---
Even just one of these would be a miracle. But Ash had all four raw and ready.
The healing ability was simple to grasp but crucial especially in the wilderness. It could act as an emergency field medic technique when no Pokémon Center was nearby.
Natural Affinity, meanwhile, was a game-changer.
He had just lamented being too weak to subdue Pokémon in the wild. But with this ability, Ash realized with growing confidence that he might not need to fight at all.
With the forest's blessing in his aura, wild Pokémon might approach him naturally. He could tame them without conflict through calm, trust, and mutual respect.
Moreover, the communication aspect overlapped with Waveguide's mind-reading functions. But there were clear distinctions:
Waveguide Perception was an active skill requiring focus and intentional aura scanning.
Natural Affinity, however, was always active. A passive field. A tranquil beacon. It never needed activation or maintenance.
"The Purification effect… that's what Giovanni used."
Ash's eyes sharpened as he recalled the scene from the manga the Pokémon Adventures canon.
Giovanni, former Gym Leader and leader of Team Rocket, had enhanced a Beedrill to such terrifying power that it rivaled even Elite-class Pokémon. The system now confirmed what Ash had long suspected: Giovanni was also a bearer of the Viridian Power.
The Root Vitality trait allowed a Pokémon to grow beyond its natural limits over time no evolution needed. If Ash could maintain that nurturing bond, he could raise champions from even common species.
Then came the final trait Willpower Blessing. Auras cast onto the battlefield during combat, allowing Ash's fighting spirit to resonate with his partners.
Suddenly, those dramatic anime moments where Trainers shout things like "Get up!" or "Don't give up!" no longer seemed ridiculous.
With the Viridian Power's Will infusion, those commands became real. A surge of energy. A second wind. A push beyond pain.

Overall, the Power of Viridian was a support-type ability—less combative than Waveguide but equally valuable. It wouldn't let Ash launch aura attacks or sense enemies through walls, but it could make ordinary Pokémon into legends.
Waveguide was versatile—mental, physical, and spiritual. But Viridian was deep—empathic, nurturing, eternal.
Compared to standard Psychic abilities—which mostly focused on direct mental force—the two spiritual paths Ash now walked were far more refined.
"If it were just Waveguide, I might've had to delay my plans to train a partner. But now…"
Ash smiled softly, closing his panel.
"With Natural Affinity, I don't need to fight. I can begin now—start forming bonds, even without strength."
His thoughts were interrupted by a soft knock on the bedroom door.
"Kaa-kun… Ash, are you awake? You've been sleeping all afternoon. Dinner's ready, honey."
It was Delia, his mother. Her voice was gentle, but tinged with concern.
"I'm up, Mom!" Ash called back, quickly slipping on his slippers and running to the door. "Sorry—I must've dozed off!"

After lunch, Ash had locked his bedroom door and hung a small wooden sign that read "Napping." He had needed focus, silence—for his first attempt at the Calm Mind method from the Psychic Association's official training logs.
He had expected a light meditation. Maybe an hour.
What he hadn't expected was that the session would trigger a dual awakening of both Waveguide and Viridian energies followed by a complete neural burnout. Once the meditation ended, his consciousness had collapsed from exhaustion, and he had passed out cold for another three hours.
Unknowingly, Ash had locked himself in for half the day.
For Delia who knew her son as impulsive, energetic, and perpetually moving this was practically a medical emergency.
If it hadn't been for the handmade "Napping" sign on his door and the fact that she could hear his breathing through the wood, Delia would've broken in with a broom or frying pan.
Fortunately, her motherly intuition and some restraint had held her back.
Still… Ash would have some explaining to do.
