The room was still filled with the lingering hum of deactivated servers as Carter, Sera, and the others tried to regain their bearings. The sudden transmission from Commander Elira had unsettled them all, leaving a heavy, ominous feeling hanging in the air.
Ezra's face had grown darker, and he seemed lost in thought, as though wrestling with a decision he hadn't wanted to make.
"Ezra," Kairo said, his voice sharp, "who is she? And what the hell is going on here?"
Ezra's eyes slowly lifted to meet Kairo's, his gaze filled with regret. "Elira... She's not just a commander in Eden's forces. She's the one who brought me into the fold—she's the one who gave the orders to start Project Echo."
Carter's fists clenched. "So, you knew about this? You knew they were making copies of people? You didn't stop it?"
Ezra winced. "It wasn't that simple. I couldn't—"
Kairo interrupted. "It's never that simple, is it?" He turned to the rest of the group. "We need to find out what Elira's really planning. She's clearly ahead of us."
"We've been trying to stay ahead of them," Sera spoke up, her voice filled with urgency, "but now that she's on her way here… we need to figure out our next move. I can't just shut everything down like I did before."
"Not without risking too much," Ezra said. "Valkyrie might be down for now, but her control over Eden's infrastructure is still far-reaching. Elira's got command over the entire facility. If we go up against her, we're outnumbered."
"Then what do we do?" Carter asked, his tone strained.
Ezra stared at the flickering control panel, his mind racing. "We need to take out the central server core. Without it, Elira can't control the clones or any of her systems."
Carter nodded. "Let's do it. We don't have much time."
Just as he spoke, the sound of heavy footsteps echoed from the hallway. A series of distant blasts rocked the walls, signaling that the Resistance forces had begun their assault. It was only a matter of time before Elira's army arrived in full force.
"We'll have to fight our way to the core," Kairo said. "No way around it."
Ezra, looking more determined than ever, grabbed a nearby weapon from the stash. "We can't afford to waste time. Follow me."
The group hurried out of the server room, each member taking their position as they ventured deeper into the labyrinthine facility. As they moved, the stark steel walls seemed to close in on them, and the distant sounds of battle only heightened the tension.

Meanwhile, back in the command center, Elira stood silently, watching the screens before her as Eden's forces prepared for the next phase. Her cold eyes scanned the live feed of the Resistance fighters moving through the facility.
"Elira," a voice came from behind her. A tall man with jet-black hair and sharp features, his expression unreadable, entered the room. His name was Victor, a high-ranking officer who served as her right-hand.
"You've been watching them, haven't you?" Elira asked without turning around. "The rebels are surprisingly resilient."
Victor stepped forward, his boots echoing against the polished floor. "They've done well, considering the circumstances. But we can't allow them to breach the core. Valkyrie is the key to everything."
Elira's lips curled into a smile. "Valkyrie isn't just an AI. She's the next step in evolution. And once the Resistance is dealt with, we'll have all the resources we need to move forward with our plans. But we can't afford to underestimate them."
Victor's eyes narrowed. "You're concerned."
"Not concerned," Elira replied coolly, "calculated." She turned to face him. "Tell me, Victor, do you believe in fate?"
Victor blinked, clearly thrown by the question. "Fate? No, of course not. We create our own destiny."
"Do we?" Elira mused. "It's funny how we think we control everything. The rebels, for example. They believe they're making the choice to stand against us, to fight for some false ideal of freedom. But in reality, they're playing their part in a game that's already been decided. They just don't know it yet."
Victor stayed silent, his face unreadable.
Elira chuckled softly. "Don't worry. Soon enough, everything will fall into place."

Back with Carter and the others, the Resistance fighters had reached the upper floors, but they encountered heavy resistance from Eden's robotic sentinels and elite clones. The narrow hallways became a gauntlet of close-quarters combat, with every corner potentially hiding an enemy ready to strike.
"We're getting close," Sera said, checking her handheld device as they moved past another checkpoint. "But it's only going to get harder from here. We'll need a plan to take out the central defense array before we can even reach the core."
"We'll figure it out as we go," Carter replied, his focus sharp as he led the charge forward.
The group pressed on, with Kairo and Ezra taking the lead to clear the way. They were all in this together, but as they approached the final stretch, the sense of impending danger grew even more intense.

Meanwhile, in the shadows, another figure was making his move. The Watcher, having remained hidden throughout much of the chaos, slipped unnoticed into the lower corridors. His purpose was clear: to unlock the final piece of the puzzle. The truth behind Project Echo and the mysterious power that Elira had been hiding for so long.
The Watcher's footsteps were silent as he descended further, beyond where even the Resistance dared to go.
