_Kingdom Of Noille_
The loud sound of battle echoed through the streets. Swords clashed against claws as huge B-class monster bears raided the kingdom of Noille. Four kingdoms were currently under attack by monsters, but so far, high-class monsters like A and B-class had only raided the kingdom of Noille, while lower-class D-E monsters had attacked the other kingdoms (Fiend Kingdom, Belzi Kingdom, and the Kingdom of Galiden).
The kingdom of Noille had grouped most of its fighters throughout the city to protect civilians, as the berserk monsters came from all corners. Inside the palace, a troubled king and his council watched their fate unfold as a glamorous woman, an "A"-rank magician, stood in the middle of a spell, her staff emitting light.
"I bring forth light from the highest source of life to summon the great hero from ancient scrolls, to defeat the demons and save the people of Noille from this misfortune. Spirit of the light, support me with your strength to wipe out the monsters from the face of the earth," she loudly declared, as the intensity of the light emanating from her staff increased. Huge winds entered the palace walls, blowing her hair. The king and the others present held onto something to prevent themselves from falling due to the impact of the strong winds.
There was hope in their eyes as they awaited the legendary hero's arrival. A council member opened his mouth with joy, drool falling out, expecting to see a powerful, godlike hero. As the wind calmed down, they closed their eyes, awaiting serene, before opening them with hopes and smiles. However, their smiles instantly faded as they saw the magician woman lying lifeless on the ground.
"We are all going to die," the drooling council member said, worried, as he realized the summoning had failed. Not only had it failed, but it had also killed the magician. "Your Majesty, what are we going to do?" they all began to pester the king, who was more frustrated than they were.
He didn't want to die without enjoying more of the people's taxes, which he had forced them to pay. His subjects hated him and called him a greedy king behind his back, and they weren't wrong. Even during the battle, he had more soldiers protecting him in the palace than those outside fighting to save civilians.
"Fetch Lady Valtira," the king ordered, panicked, as he told one of the guards. "But, Your Majesty, her skills are needed on the front lines," the guard replied, staring at his wicked king, who wanted to save himself and not the kingdom.
"Ahh, are you foolish?!" the king exclaimed. "The king asked you to fetch Lady Valtira. Do you want to have your head chopped off?" The council members chimed in, threatening him. The guard immediately bowed his head and apologized before rushing out to fetch the most powerful sorceress in the Noille Kingdom.
She was the one who healed most of the knights and adventurers, as well as fought with her abilities. When the message reached her, a frown appeared on her face as she slowly retreated back to the palace. The knights gnashed with anger as they realized what the authorities had just done. They knew that the king and his council wanted Lady Valtira to protect them.
Valtira arrived at the castle, only to see her student lying lifeless on the ground. She didn't sense any light from her, which meant she was dead. Valtira had specifically told the king not to perform the summoning of the legendary hero, as failure would result in the death of the summoner. Apart from that, the mana from the light spirit wasn't strong enough to perform the complete summoning. It required both light and dark magic mana to be successful.
Dark magic was forbidden in all kingdoms, which meant the hero in the scrolls couldn't be summoned. Lady Valtira walked with grace, her long white hair flowing to the ground, her perfect white robe moving in rhythm with her walking. She was the sorceress of light, and she knew the light spirits needed the assistance of dark spirits to summon the hero.
"Lady Valtira," the king said, with a grin plastered on his face. He was certain she would get the job done. "Your Majesty," Lady Valtira replied, gently bowing. "Summon the great hero this instance," one of the council members said, as they received a dark glare from Lady Valtira.
Her gaze was so powerful that they felt themselves being suffocated. Everyone present infuriated her. They wanted her to defile herself as the sorceress of light. They knew combining light and dark magic might be more dangerous if the summoning failed. Light and dark magic caused distraction; therefore, if the spell failed, the city would be wiped out by the cosmic explosion of destruction.
"Lady Valtira, this is for the best of the people," the king said, making her let out a defeated sigh. The sorceress of light was forbidden to defy the king of Noille. For many generations, her family's sorceresses had protected the kingdom and guided the king, and now it was her turn. Unfortunately, the king of her generation was corrupt and greedy.
She pierced her wrist with her nails as a drop of blood fell to the ground. With her eyes closed, she began to emit light from her body.
"I am light, from the highest source of life. I love with light and light does not move with darkness. But, accept my apology dear spirits of light. From the deepest depths of darkness, I borrow the power of the night to forge with the light. I summon the great hero from ancient scrolls, to defeat the demons and save the people of Noille from this misfortune. Spirit of the light and dark, support me with your strength to wipe out the monsters from the face of the earth," Lady Valtira recited, and unlike her pupil, who had only generated strong winds, this time the clouds surrounding the kingdom turned dark.
A strike of light surged through a small diameter of a ball of light and headed straight into the castle, clashing on the ground, sending Lady Valtira into the air to hit a pillar. The council members tripped on the ground, and a strong force pressed the king towards his throne. A crack began to form from the magic circle, moving in all directions, causing parts of the roof to fall.
The crack also dissected towards the king's concrete throne, causing him to panic. He closed his eyes as it reached inches away from his trousers before a deep silence occurred. Lady Valtira gently raised her head, a wave of awe striking her. The council members and guards watched with widened gazes. The king opened his right eye and watched the crack in his throne between his legs, panicked, before letting out a sigh of relief.
He looked towards the center of the room and stared, as well as the others.
"It worked," Lady Valtira whispered to herself, as loud screams began to echo from inside the palace. The monsters could sense the sudden change in mana in the atmosphere, causing them all to head towards the palace.
As the king and his council members watched, a figure began to take shape in the center of the room. It was a man with piercing green eyes and jet-black hair. He was tall, with a confident air about him.
