"Nope." Kevin's tone was cold.
Seeing the change in his expression, Jessie hurriedly explained, "I'm sorry, I'm just a little scared."
"What are you afraid of?" He looked at her, a bit puzzled.
While most people would be eager to marry into a wealthy family, she was actually afraid of it?
Jessie sighed. "I just want to live a simple life, without getting caught up in anything complicated. But what my college classmate said made me feel uneasy."
Maybe she didn't truly understand what rich people thought, perhaps they did sometimes enjoy coming to remote roads.
She didn't dwell on that anymore, instead giving Kevin a chance to speak up.
"College classmate? Is it the one you met at the banquet last time? Why would he come to visit you?"
Jessie didn't notice the probing tone in Kevin's voice, truthfully recounting what had happened today.
