Chapter 30 - THE THUNDER LION

The whole school and passing students were in a panic when they saw the huge lion that was bigger than a car, with electricity sparking all over its body suddenly jump out and rip off a human's head like cabbage.

The first reaction of those who saw the scene was to run as far as possible from the scene while others were frozen in fear, their minds turning into mush from the primal fear of seeing a creature above the food chain and being powerless to do anything.

Those running had become the primary target of the frenzied lion that seemed like it was unwilling to let any prey run free from its clutches.

David witnessed at the carnage occurring around him and he suddenly felt a budding anger rising from him.

"This damned lion just ruined my day with its stupid revolt" he didn't know why but he just suddenly felt angry at the lion and felt like ripping it apart.

He shook Jerry who was still beside him standing and staring ahead in a daze with his body shaking.

"Hey bro, get off it and move your legs!" He shouted while dragging Jerry away forcefully.

Jerry shook his head and said in fear "what's the use of running, it will catch up to us anyways, let's just stay here and wait for the security to arrive."

"Wow, Jerry I didn't know you were such a coward, deciding to wait and hope for someone to come to your help like a damsel in distress needing rescue" David said with a mocking tone.

Hearing those mocking words from David, Jerry's eyes suddenly became clear and bright then he said "Who said I'm scared? You better watch your words! I was just waiting for it to be distracted"

He said then ran in the opposite direction to the lion with David right behind him.

He could overtake him at any moment and leave him to eat dust but he decided to remain behind and watch out for his back in case the lion actually caught up.

He knew those who were caught by the lion had little to zero chance of survival and the only person who could perhaps stop it was him but he wasn't going to risk his life just to save them instead of saving himself first.

He ran forward looking back occasionally at the lion who seemed to be enjoying its feast when it suddenly turned and caught the two preys trying to run away and quickly sprinted after them.

David saw this and panicked inside, he would have been able to escape if it was only him but with Jerry here he couldn't just leave him behind and run away.

"Don't look back Jerry, just keep running!" he shouted to him then turned around and stopped to face the lion.

To anyone who saw this scene, it would seem like a touching scene where he was sacrificing himself to save his friend but David knew

"I didn't want to do this, but you forced me into a corner! Count yourself lucky little kitten. You have successfully gained my agro" he said then clenched his fists hard waiting for the lion to get close.

The moment the lion got close, David felt the strange feeling he had felt earlier, the anger he seemed to feel when seeing the lion surfaced again then he punched out with all his strength and the lion was sent flying straight backward with its body bending like a bow.

Everyone around were utterly stunned to see a human punch such a huge behemoth away like it was paper.

Even Jerry who had stopped at this point was standing with his mouth gaping open.

The lion was as big as a car and was filled thoroughly with muscles which meant if David's punch had landed on a car, the car would be crumbled to pieces!!

"Fuck! What did I just see?" a guy who was scared out of his wits before asked.

"That dude punched it away with a single punch!" another exclaimed.

"Who the hell is that?" a girl with black hair asked.

"I know him, he's my departmental mate with the weird scar, I didn't know he had such a crazy amount of strength!" Another girl said to the first one.

They were amazed for a moment but when the lion stood up with the same menacing momentum they all scrambled away for dear life.

Jerry also came back to hold David and told him

"That punch must have cost you a lot of energy, come on let's run before it recovers."

To his surprise, David shook his head "No, you should just run and don't look back, I'll be fine"

"Don't try to be stubborn, just because it worked once doesn't mean it'll work again. Just be obedient and let's leave now." He said while glancing at the lion that was now close to fully recovering with its eyes set on David.

Hearing Jerry's words, David said with a bitter smile "I would also like to run but it already has its eyes set on me, you should just leave."

After saying this, he ran in the opposite direction sure that the lion would follow him and as expected the lion roared and burst into a sprint after him.

Jerry looked at David who was running with such an insane speed that even the lion found it difficult to match up to him.

"So I was the one holding him behind huh?"
