Chapter 18 - Five Ancient Jade

Regarding the last function, only now did Lingshe understand this ability, previously when her grandfather told her she wasn't sure. Transforming fortune means using the gathered fortune, not the recoverable fortune that one loses when getting opportunities outside, but the overall fortune, to transform into anything one wants. It's like a wishing box so to say.

Of course this is a good function, but the price to be paid is huge. Fortune is an illusory thing – getting it is difficult while losing it is extremely easy. Even the function of gathering fortune is a passive thing, if there is no major event, then fortune will always be difficult to gather.

Lingshe tried to look into the blessed land now that she had contracted it.

When she saw it, she was shocked.

'This… for millions of years it has gathered fortune, barely giving out a little bit to ensure the family remained. Look at this… no wonder it is called blessed land. If this isn't a blessed land, then I don't think there is any other blessed land below the immortal world.'

Inside the box, there was a real treasure land. The whole structure was a valley surrounded by four mountains in all directions, with each of the mountains having a different attribute.

The northern mountain was a volcano, the southern was a glacier, to the east was a mountain lush with trees, and to the west were many peaks with strong wind. The valley itself was very lush with different environments. Some ice fields, some forests, jungles, wetlands, grasslands, deserts, and so on.

The key to this was that although there was no living person, the whole world seemed alive. Everywhere, there was jade. Lingshe looked clearly and was shocked once more – the four mountains she spoke of were in fact four huge jades!

Red jade, blue jade, green jade and white jade. They correspond to the element of fire, water, wood and wind. The ground basis of the whole valley was a brown jade, the element for earth.

The valley itself also had numerous jade in the form of grass, trees, vines, and even sand. This whole blessed land wasn't a land – it was clearly just a huge gathering of many jades that manifested the outer image of what they were supposed to be.

'Everything has a spirit…' thinking of this idiom, she had an eerie feeling in her heart, but she couldn't feel the spirit of the jade. Still, just their presence made her feel as if she was in a blessed land.

Unlike other cultivators, jade root cultivators don't actually consume jade. Instead, they consume spiritual light that has jade properties. This light can be a natural manifestation of wood, water and earth. If there is real jade around, then this jade will transform the spiritual power around it into jade spiritual power.

The spiritual power in the whole blessed land nearly solidified into jade itself. The concentration was so high, if Lingshe didn't know it, she'd think the whole space was actually a huge jade block.

Of course she quickly put this thought away. Jade itself is a very exclusive ore. It's fine if there is other jade outside of it, but inside, even if there are other things, it's impossible for jade to be there. Their powers would clash and the spiritual power in the space would be chaotic, instead of the harmonious state it is now.

From this she concluded that the space itself wasn't made of a large jade.

'Though… since the concentration is so high, then some spiritual power might have transformed into jade too. Or rather… it's very likely that there were five jade blocks at first, and the rest transformed gradually. The five elements are the origin of all life, so it's not surprising if the five jade blocks transformed spiritual power into jade.

As for their own transformation from jade blocks into this natural scene… it should be the power of the box. It continued to gather fortune, increased the concentration of spiritual power even in a time of spirit degeneration and gradually transformed the pure space into a blessed land.

It's really worthy of the tittle 'Myriad Fortune Blessed Land'. The core ability should be to gather, supress and finally transform fortune to create a blessed land from the materials that were initially inserted, creating a blessed land of a fitting element.

If many waters were put inside instead, it would create a sea landscape most suitable for water cultivators.

Unfortunately, this wasn't inherited by the blessings. Or rather, even if it was inherited, it's very passive and only works well if enough time passes.

Hmm… if we do this and that…' as she thought of many things, she fell into contemplation, feeling that there was a chance to realise her idea just now.

'No matter what, this blessed land was created by the power of only one clan… if we can expand the range, even if the instruments used are worse, the resulting blessed land should still be excellent, it will only be a matter of time and resources before it can catch up with this one…'

It took a long time for her to finish her thoughts. She had initially planned something else, but considering her new found, she felt that plans couldn't keep up with changes.

Finally, she stopped contemplating and inspected the blessed land through the contract, that allowed her to have a gods-view over it.

In fact, the whole blessed land is barren except for jade. She had read in the guide that there were weapon-refining techniques through which she could naturally transform jade. This was also how the jade crown, the box and the jade book were created.

The Yu clan was very disdainful of normal weapon refining techniques that waste a lot of resources. They also don't believe jade needs any other material, pure jade is the best form. For them, the way of slowly and naturally transforming jade is the supreme way… in fact, besides jade root cultivators, no one else can do it. If it wasn't for this, why would others use the weapon-refining techniques when there is such an easy and cost-reducing way?

Fortunately, there was still something to be found. In total, she found six things in the blessed land. On each mountain and in the centre of the valley, there was a popular item that was extremely difficult to form – jade marrow!

This was an item that would slowly form after countless years. Only the five oldest huge jade blocks were able to produce it.

'If the jade really had a spirit, it would never produce jade marrow. It seems that the environment here isn't conductive to producing spirits… in fact, the mortal world is probably a bad place overall. Else, it wouldn't make sense that there are no unique races. Even the elementals are extremely rare.'

From the novel, she still knew there was no race born from stone or jade in the middle world.

This meant that the environment wasn't fitting for jade to grow a spirit. In fact, even weapon spirits wouldn't be born in the middle world's weapons, even though they are the easiest type of entity to give birth to spirit.

After all, they were created by creatures who are born with spirits. They are a combination of many different materials and together with various techniques and restrictions, the end result is a supreme treasure. If one compared it to jade, then it would be as if it was a natural jade millions of years old!

Looking away from the five jade marrows, Lingshe focused on the clouds.
