Jiraya then started to teach them leaf concentration method, Asahi with his precise control and Nagato with his Rinnegan was able to do it in their first try itself. Seeing that, Jiraya told them to attach more leaves on their bodies to increase the difficulty of the exercise. But within minutes, they kept dozens of leaves on their body, without any effort. Seeing that, Jiraya thought 'These two have exceptional control over their chakra. I can understand Nagato, as he have the Rinnegan it is understandable. As for Asahi, it's just pure talent.'
Before Jiraya could teach Nagato and Asahi the next exercise, Fukasaku came back and told Jiraya "I was able to sense an invisible dome over the house, it didn't stop me. I tried many things and found out that it detoxify poison and purify polluted things. I think, the spirit is trying to protect Asahi from poison and other things. The spirit might be one of his family member who had died because of poisoning."
Jiraya nodded at the information, he asked "Can everyone sense this spirit?"
"No. Only the one's with exceptional chakra sense can sense the spirit. And the one who sensed this spirit, he have an exceptional sense. Train him well." Fukasaku told Jiraya.
Nodding his head, Jiraya said while looking at Fukasaku and Shima "Thank you, Pa, Ma. I appreciate the help."
Fukasaku just looked at the kids and asked "Are you going to give them the contract?"
Jiraya shook his head and said "No. My sensei will be livid if he knew I gave the summoning contract to people outside of Konaha."
"Well, we won't mind, as long as it's your sound decision. Now, we will go back, try not to piss of a spirt with your antics." Chuckling, Shima warned Jiraya and reverse summoned themselves back to Mount Myōboku.
After the two Sage's left to Mount Myōboku, Jiraya observed his new students and nodded to himself 'They talented, even Asahi who have only one Nature Affinity is talented in chakra control. I'll have to train Minato, Dekai and Hiyori when I get back to the village. They're talented too, especially Minato. That kid snagged the Uzumaki girl, by rescuing her from the cloud shinobi. Well, I know that I need protection from my crush, hooo..... life is not fair.'
As Jiraya was laminating about his love life, Nagato and Asahi was having an unofficial competition, to see who could attach more leaves to their body, and Asahi was wining it by a huge margin. By the end of the day, Asahi and Nagato was covered in leaves, and the other's were laughing at them, as they looked like a walking bush.
After a hearty meal, consisting of roasted venison, vegetables, rice and fish soup, Jiraya told his students "You five can do the leaf concentration exercise for almost two minutes continuously, except for Nagato and Asahi, they were holding it for more than an hour."
Chuckling, Jiraya continued "The next method is tree walking and after that it's water walking. When you can achieve ten minutes in leaf concentration, we will move to tree walking. And when you get to the top of the tree without falling, we will move to water walking."
Asahi raised his hand, and Jiraya the ever dutiful sensei nodded at Asahi to ask his question "What do we do after water walking?"
Smiling, Jiraya said "After water walking is Chakra Nature Transformation. But, you won't be learning that anytime soon."
"Why?!" All of them asked at the same time.
Shaking his head, Jiraya explained "I won't teach you any further until you have mastered the three basic jutsus. The Clone Jutsu, the Transformation Jutsu and the Substitution Jutsu. If you can master water walking, then the three basic jutsus will be far easier to learn."
"That means sensei will teach us Nature Transformation! Yay!!" Yahiko said as he raised his hands in the air, and Jiraya just smiles meaningfully, neither agreeing nor denying it.
Two weeks passed by, and in those two weeks, everyone was able to hold a leaf for five minutes or more. Asahi and Nagato didn't advance to the next exercise. Instead, Asahi increased the difficulty of the leaf concentration exercise, to fine tune his control, and seeing that Nagato also joined in.
To increase the difficulty, they ran around the training area with leaf attached to their while also making Jiraya throw dulled shuriken's and kunai's at them. At first Nagato and Asahi got hit by the thrown weapons multiple times, but by the time a week passed, they were able to dodge 90% of thrown weapons.
Then, Asahi had an idea 'I tried unlocking Observation Haki in the beginning alone, but now I have people to throw things at me. I can blindfold myself and let them throw to their hearts content. Even of I don't unlock Observation Haki, I'm sure that at least Chakra Sense will be unlocked.'
When Asahi told Jiraya and others what to do, they were against it at first, but after some pleading, Jiraya folded. This time, Nagato didn't join Asahi and opted to help his fellow students in their training 'COWARD!!'
After one week of relentless training with Jiraya, Asahi was able to unlock his Chakra Cense and Observation Haki at the same time. And that evolved into something greater, which was a great boon for Asahi.
'Combination of both Chakra Sense and Observation Haki. The long range ability of Chakra Sense and the close range ability of Observation Haki.' Asahi thought on the final day of their leaf concentration training.
After leaf concentration, Jiraya taught them the tree climbing exercise. "Tree Climbing Exercise is a training method used to gain more skills with chakra control. This training involves focusing a fixed amount of chakra to the bottom of one's feet, and using it to climb a tree without using one's hands. If the stream of chakra is too weak, the user will lose their footing on the tree and fall off. If it is too strong, the user will be pushed away from the tree, causing the tree to fracture around the point of contact and the user will fall." Looking at his students, he asked "Understand? You should be careful with this exercise, as it will cause injury for a slight mistake."
"Hai, sensei." And as everyone expected, Asahi and Nagato mastered it in their first try. With the second exercise mastered, Asahi increased the difficulty of it, by doing leaf concentration method simultaneously with tree climbing, and when he mastered that, he asked Jiraya to throw weapons at him. Nagato also joined, but he didn't participate in the second part and like before, he helped his fellow students. Thanks to that, they completed the exercise in a single week.
In the fifth week into training, they started water walking. "This training method is used to gain better chakra control. To do this, the user has to be emitting a constant stream of chakra from the bottom of their feet and using the repellent force to walk across the water's surface. This technique is more difficult to master than the Tree Climbing Practice, because the amount of chakra that needs to be emitted changes constantly.
It doesn't have to just be at the feet. A user under water can focus chakra on their hands or any other body part that makes contact with the water's surface." Then looking at Asahi, Jiraya asked "Asahi, why don't you show them how it's done."
Nodding at Jiraya, Asahi jumped on to the water, but he didn't sing and just like the last two exercises, he increased the difficulty.
Thanks to the help of Nagato, and the living motivation to surpass your limits, Asahi, all five of them completed water walking in three days and they adopted Asahi's method. Attaching leaves on them and dodging weapons thrown at them, while running on water.
Seeing all this, Jiraya mumbled under his breath "Geniuses, the lot of them."
When they gathered in their house that night, Jiraya told them "I need you guys to practice the three exercises for three more weeks, and you will be training like Asahi."
Yahiko made a face, as if Jiraya betrayed him. 'Sensei! You told us that you will teach us nature transformation, if we completed all three exercises! Why are you betraying us???!!!'
Kyoko nodded her head in agreement, as she was the last one to finish the exercises among the five. 'I have to work harder and increase my control, so that I could help Yahiko achieve his dream.'
Konan also nodded in agreement and thought 'If I have enough control, may be I can do jutsus with a clap of my hand like Asahi does.'
Nagato smiled at it. 'If I can improve my chakra control, then maybe, I could use the powers of my eyes more easily.'
Asahi sat there with a thoughtful look. 'Should I ask him about chakra thread? That shit so much underutilized by using it to control the puppets.' Then looking at Jiraya, who had a perverted grin on his face as he looked outside the house, Asahi decided 'I'm not allowing you to do your reseat for two weeks, while you have two female students.'
"Sensei! I have a question." Asahi said, attracting the attention of the others.
"Let's hear it." Jiraya said.
"Before I met you, me and Konan had been traveling through the forest, you know that right? During our travel we stumbled upon a small skirmish between Iwa and Suna. The Suna shinobi's were using puppets to attack the Iwa shinobi. How did they control the puppets?" Asahi asked his question, after giving the background of the reason for his question. 'We did stumble into it really, and thanks to Knight, we were able to escape undetected.'
Jiraya looked stunned and thought 'This kid. If I answer him, he will definitely want to learn it, and because of that the other's will want to learn it too. But if I don't answer it and go for my research, then the painstakingly build up image of mine among them will crumble.' Closing his eyes, he thought, how to answer this question. When he didn't get the answer for his dilemma, he started to think like his sensei 'Come on Jiraya, think like that old pervert.'
A few moments later, Jiraya opened his eye and said "It's called chakra thread. It can be produced from our finger tips, and to use that, you need extreme chakra control." Then rubbing his chin, Jiraya continued "Tell you what. I'll give you the next three weeks as research time. Try your best to produce Chakra thread from one finger tip, and if you couldn't do it within three weeks, then you can approach me."
"Hai sensei!" Yahiko agreed instantly, and Asahi scrutinized Jiraya and thought 'That's almost similar to how he had left Naruto to train Rasengan. But, he did give pointers for that, and here there's nothing.'
Three weeks, they didn't see Jiraya in the mornings, he always came home late in the night. They asked what he was doing all day on the first day, and Jiraya told his students that he was gathering intels about enemy village's. 'Yeah, in brothels. But seriously, he does have the best intel gathering ability.'
In those three weeks, Asahi mastered chakra thread after countless failures. But he produced single thread after a day of training. Since he mastered to produce one thread, he helped others to create one chakra thread. And because of that, all of them were able to produce at least five chakra threads. Improving their chakra control a bit more, which made them happy. While training for chakra threads, Asahi also created chakra ball, so that when he learns Rasengan himself in the future, he can tell that he improved on the chakra ball.
After the three weeks ended, Jiraya gathered them and told them "From today onwards, I'll be training you the three basic jutsus. The clone jutsu, transformation jutsu and substation jutsu."
He gave them a short lecture on the three jutsus and informed them that these will be easy for them, as they have high chakra control.
Then Jiraya started to teach each of his students individually the hand signs and how to mould their chakra, for the clone technique. And told them to practice it until their chakra is exhausted.
The five children started to practice the hand signs, with out moulding chakra, as per the instruction given by Jiraya. Asahi didn't slack off and seriously practiced, he first did it without moulding chakra, so that he could increase the speed of his hand signs.
When he was satisfied with the speed of his hand signs, Asahi took a deep breath in, then he did the hand signs and moulded the chakra, with his precise control, and when he finished the required hand signs, an identical clone appeared next to him. Seeing the clone, without any defect, Asahi smiled.
The other's looked at it in astonishment, expect for Konan, who have see Asahi make earthen hut with a simple tap of his feet on the ground.
After observing the identical clone, Jiraya said "You have talent in ninjutsu, Asahi. Let's hone your skill from now on. Try to do the clone technique with one hand, and when you get it right, make a clone without any hand signs."
"Yes sensei." Saying that he sat down in the ground and started to practice with one hand seal. Similar to two handed signs, he also practiced to increase his single hand sign speed.
As Jiraya turned to look at his students, he saw Asahi making clone after clone without using any hand signs. 'Alright, it's time to teach him transformation jutsu.'
Jiraya called for Asahi and showed him the hand signs and how to mould the chakra for the transformation jutsu. And just like before, Jiraya told him to practice it until he can do the jutsu seal less.
Just like before, Asahi mastered seal less transformation jutsu after half a dozen practice. Seeing his training speed, Jiraya blinked his eye's and thought 'Is this kid a genius in ninjutsu?' Still, with some doubt in his heart, he taught Asahi the final jutsu he had planned to teach his students, the substitution jutsu.
A few minutes later, Jiraya and the rest, who had just finished training in clone jutsu with single handed seals, were dumbfounded as Asahi zipped around their training area using the substitution jutsu. And Asahi was having fun as he substituted with tree trunks, large branches, large stones, small branches, small stones and finally leaves. Seeing this, Jiraya blinked his eyes and thought 'Did Asahi used the Substitution Jutsu or the Body Flicker Jutsu? The speed almost same.'
Then suddenly, Asahi stopped zipping around. When he stopped, he didn't look towards his sensei and fellow student's, he was looking in the southern direction from where they were training.
Before Jiraya could say anything, Asahi disappeared from the spot leaving behind a leaf. Jiraya blinked a few time's and asked out loud "Where the hell did go?"
Shaking his head, Jiraya made a shadow clone and sent it towards the direction Asahi left, then looking at his students, he said "Alright, my clone will find him. Until Asahi come's back, let's train in transformation jutsu."
Shaking his head hurriedly, Yahiko voice his opinion "Sensie! Teach us the jutsu Asahi used just now. It was so cool!"
The rest nodded along and Jiraya taught them as per their request and watched them train harder than before, mumbling how they should reach the same level as Asahi so that they wouldn't drag him down with them. Seeing that, Jiraya thought 'Just like Orochimaru, Asahi is a genius and the rest are trying to catch up to him like I did, back in the day.'
Five minutes later, Asahi came back with a large boar, dragged by the clone of Jiraya. Seeing the boar, everyone stopped what they were doing and looked at Asahi for explanation, and he didn't kept them waiting, and told Jiraya with a sheepish smile "Sorry sensei. I sensed this boar in the jungle and my hunter instinct just took over."
"You sensed it? How far away was it?" As Jiraya asked this, his shadow clone dispelled it self, and it's memories flowed into Jiraya "Almost a kilometer away. Are you saying you can sense thing's one kilometer away from you."
Asahi nodded his head and thought 'Well, I sensed it using the seismic sense, but I don't have to inform them about it.'
'This damn brat have talent in being a sensor too? But then, why didn't he sense the spirit attached to him?' Just as Jiraya thought that, Asahi asked Nagato "Nagato, the spirit is on my right side right?"
Nagato looked at his right side and sensed the spirit, he nodded and said "Yes, it's on your right side. You can sense it now?"
"I think so." Asahi said as he looked at his right side, squinting his right side. At the same time he was thinking 'I'm not lying, as I have awakened chakra sense using the same method used to awaken Observation Haki. And I got a special special skill because of that.'
The day ended with Asahi and Nagato learning all three basic jutsus and the rest with the clone and transformation jutsu. When they went back home, Asahi started butchering the boar that he had hunted. And the other's helped as they have been studying butchering under the tutelage of Asahi.
The dinner that night was magnificent, with stir fried vegetables, barbecued pork, rice, boiled eggs, roasted fish, venison jerky, and sweet corn soup. The main dishes were cooked by Jiraya and he assigned different tasks to his students. Konan and Kyoko was assigned to cutting duty, Yahiko was assigned roasting the fish, Nagato was assigned to boil eggs, Asahi was assigned to barbecue. And Jiraya was making the rice, stir fried vegetables and sweet corn soup.
After everyone had their fill, Jiraya ushered them to sleep, as he had to go out and gather intel.
Once everyone was asleep, Asahi opened his eyes and said in his mind 'Status.'
