Zane was about to sleep, not even bothering changing his clothes. However, Velrath suddenly spoke to him, making him open his eyes again. He then shifted his gaze towards Velrath, who was just beside him, sitting in his chair.
[Zane, when Sylvaris sent you in her dimension, did she say anything else aside from the fact that she gave you a divine egg? I mean like, do you have any clues at all, to why Sylvaris, The Protector of Nature would give you a divine egg?]
Zane stared at Sylvaris for a while, he then said with his tired voice.
[Hmm... well, honestly, not much. I don't really remember much about what happened back then. I only remembered seeing a lake, and when I touched the water of the lake, and used it to wash my face, my body suddenly started to heal, removing all the fatigue I have been feeling. Moments afterwards, Sylvaris arrived, standing in front of me. Of course I was shock as hell, she then told me that she was glad to see me again, even though we haven't really seen each other before. She then told me she had something to give me, and that was the divine egg. She told me that I would need it one day, then... after that, I guess I got sent back to reality.]
Velrath remained quite for a while, moments afterwards, he said with a low voice.
[Glad to see you again, huh?]
Velrath paused for a bit, then said.
[Alright, you can sleep now.]
Zane stared at him for a while, before closing his eyes. Meanwhile, Velrath remained seated in the chair, looking in front of him with a neutral expression. It was unusual for a deity to meet up with a human like that. It was so rare that, only those who serve a purpose for them could ever dare to stand before them, and be able to speak against them. 'But, Zane... does he perhaps serve a purpose against the deities? She also mentioned about meeting Zane before, how strange.'
Velrath had actually been suspicious about Zane's existence for a while now. Zane's mana exceed Wardell's mana, who was known for also exceeding the limit of human capabilities. Naturally, human's are known as the weaker race, against the other race, such as the demon, elves, and dragons.
But Wardell exceeded those human limits, and went beyond what a human should be capable of. And now... a new feat has arose in humanity. Wardell's feat was already deemed impossible, but Zane's feat could even be considered a legend.
'His existence is truly strange... well, the Thaleward clan was known for having the most largest mana capacity, even in other kingdoms. So, maybe such a person was simply bound to appear in a hundred years or so. But seriously? How long as it been since Wardell died? 27 years ago? That means, in just 27 years, a gem already arrived?'
A grin appeared on Velrath's face, however, it was a grin that didn't look like he was scheming something, but more like amazed at something. Velrath simply couldn't help but admire the Thaleward bloodline.
...
Feeling the bright sunlight hitting his skin, Zane slowly opened his eyes, groaning. After fully opening his eyes, he rose up from his bed and scanned his surroundings for a moment, before getting out of bed.
However, as he scanned his surroundings, Velrath was nowhere to be seen. But, Zane wasn't really surprised, since this became normal for him now. Velrath would actually be sitting on the rooftop of the dormitory every night. That's why he was nowhere in sight, when Zane woke up.
After scanning his surroundings, he then got out of bed, and grabbed some clothes. He was going to bath, since he was getting kind of smelly now. All the dirt and sweats he had build up yesterday were still in his clothes.
Oh, and aside from that. Today was the day... he was finally going to do the trials, trials he couldn't pass for over 4 years. A smile appeared from his face, however at the same time, a hint of anxiety could be seen on his face. Although he really wanted to move in the main castle to become even more stronger, he also felt scared to face all the people who had once been with him in the Ironveil castle. Not only in the Ironveil, but also in the other castles. He was scared to meet all their gazes, and their judgements.
However, Zane knew that if he kept being like this. If he kept being a coward who doesn't learn to face his fears then, he would never be able to reach his goals. Remembering the silly promise he made with his mom, and with his sister... he couldn't help but smile gently.
'Ah, good old days.'
Right after Zane grabbed his clothes, he immediately headed to the bathroom, and washed himself. Considering Vale was nowhere in sight, he was probably still asleep. Well, it was better not to disturb him, after all, he had also been working hard on improving his self. He was actually also secretly practicing his family's magic spells, and had been working out with him recently.
Zane enjoyed bathing his self for a while, the fatigues in his body was now completely gone. Thanks to the lake, of course. Speaking of the lake. Zane was once again distracted by his thoughts, about what had happened yesterday.
All the things that Sylvaris had said, were simply too much for Zane to comprehend. Zane then raised his hand and looked at the glowing mark once again. For some reason, the crack in the mark had become slightly larger than before.
'Huh?'
Zane's eyes widened slightly, staring strangely at the mark in his forearm. After staring at it for a while, he finally understood why. 'It seems that, the closer the egg will hatch, the more the mark will crack.' After staring at it for a while, he then lowered his hand, letting it sink in the water.
