Chapter 17 - Exercise [1]

Zane and Vale went to their next class. Their next class was going to be all about learning the fundamentals of magic. Zane personally loves this subject; after all, magic was full of mysteries and discoveries.

One of the reasons Zane was eager to learn more about magic was because of his curiosity. There was just too much to learn about magic, from it's history to it's future. There was just too much.

Aside from his curiosity about magic, he also loved the current professor who was teaching them the fundamentals of magic. Her pleasing and loving personality was enough to captivate the entire class. Her soft voice and soft laugh made the entire class focus on her. Even Velrath was listening to her lessons.

[Zane... I think I have found my beloved wife...]

[Stop, dreaming.]

Zane watched in awe. Her small, beautiful face was framed by deep blue eyes. She wore a long, pointy hat and a dark blue coat, exuding an air of quiet mystery. Her name was Elisia Raizel, a noble from the Raizel family. Their family isn't really known for their magic capabilities but for their wealth instead.

Although she was only a 3-teir mage, her knowledge of magic is almost uncomparable.

Zane and the others listened in awe until the end of their class.

"Well, I guess this is the end of our class! See you next time!"

Everyone slowly rose from their seats with a groan. For some reason, many were disappointed to leave the class, but, well. They had no other choice and slowly left the lecture hall.

Elisia was waving at them as the numbers were decreasing in her classroom. Velrath was also waving back at her, even though she couldn't really see her.

The next class is going to be all about the physical capabilities of a person. This subject was meant for those who mainly use weapons; although spellcasters are allowed to skip the physical training, they are not allowed to skip the class. So, they had to go either way.

Zane and the others headed to their next class. Zane had actually been waiting for this class since he was planning on improving his physical capabilities. His entire life he had solely focused more on learning stuff about magic and never did any physical activities. That was the reason why he easily gets tired most of the time. He had a low amount of mana; he also had low stamina. Well, he already had a high amount of mana capacity, so now he can focus on his stamina.

As soon as Zane and the others entered the lecture hall, they were greeted by a really muscular man, and it was almost terrifying to look at him. The man had a really wide grin on his face as he greeted the students one by one.

This man was Aiden Blackthorn. He was actually pretty well known, despite his strange personality. After all, just like Ferlin Void, he also used to be a fearsome soldier for the kingdom of Ashveil. Although he was only a 4-teir swordsman, his physical capabilities were unlike any other.

This is exactly what makes this academy really amazing. Even in class D, their professors are no joke. The professors here actually have something to give, unlike in Ironviel. Even if you are in the lowest class, the academy treats you equally as the higher class. Whether you are a commoner or a noble, the academy wouldn't discriminate against you and instead hone you.

This is the exact reason why this academy was recognized as the most prestigious academy in the kingdom of Ashveil.

Zane and the others began to sit down at their seats. Aiden was in the front, waiting for everyone to finally sit down.

"Alright, everyone! Let's head to the training hall! We won't take it to hard today with the lessons, and instead, let's do some physical activities instead!"

"..."

As the professor's words resounded in everyone's ears. Everyone's face suddenly turned somber.

"You should've just told us that from the beginning!"

"Man, he really just had to wait for all of us to sit down, just for him to tell us to stand up again."

Zane sighed.

'This guy...'

[Such an interesting fellow!]

Zane ignored Velrath's statement and simply rose up from his seat along with the others. Vale's face was just as somber as the others.

"Man, I hate physics activities..."

Zane looked towards Vale; he then said in a casual tone.

"I do as well, but honestly, I think that physical activities are really useful for our daily lives."

Hearing this, Vale slowly looked towards him. There were horrors all over his face. He then said, trembling.

"Z-zane... No... Who the hell are you?!"

"..."

Zane stared at him blankly for a while; he then said it in a relaxed tone.

"Admit it, no matter how much we hate it, being physically weak really just does us no good. Well, at least based on my experience."

Vale paused for a while; his expression was unchanged, still somber and shocked by Zane's unusual personality.

"Well, I do agree. But, since when have you become like this, Zane? Your sudden change is just too strange. Ever since we were on the training hall back then."

Zane was staring at him as he listened to Vale. Zane furrowed his brows, he then said in a casual tone.

"Really? Does it seem like that to you, Vale?"

Vale's expression turned softer; he then responded with a casual tone.

"Well... Kinda. It's just that back then you would have complained when this class would start."

A faint smile appeared from Zane's face. He paused for a while; he then said it with a soft tone.

"Honestly, I still hate it; I hate doing physical activity stuff, but it's just that. I don't want to remain the same, Vale. I want to reach higher than where I am now."

Vale's eyes widened as he heard Zane's words. His eyes were glittering with awe. He then smiled softly, then said it with a casual tone.

"Now that seems like what Zane would say!"

Glancing at each other with a smile, without even knowing it. They have already arrived at the training hall once again.

This time, there were also other classes in the training hall. Not just any class, but class A students. Not just any class A students too, but the most known class A in the entire school.

Class A: Vaelora. Zane's older sister was in this class as well, as were the other well-known students that came from the family that belongs to the Covenant of Ten.

As Zane and the others reached the training hall. They were distracted by the aura of the class A students. They couldn't help but look at them with amazement.

Zane's classmates paused in one group and watched the class A students with awe in their eyes.

Zane too couldn't help but look at them with amazement.

"Woah... Man, I don't know if it's only me, but I find class A students scary for some reason."

Zane, who was watching them, responded without looking at Vale.

"Don't worry, you are not the only one."

Zane too feared these people. After all, these students weren't just any students. But students recognized by the academy, and students who came from a renowned family. Honestly, just being able to look at them was a blessing.

[Is that your older sister, Zane?]

[...Yes.]

[Woah, she gives me the same vibes as Wardell does. I can say that she will definitely become a strong mage soon.]

[She surely will.]

Whispers got louder as they continued to watch the class A students doing their training.

As Zane stared at the class A students doing their training. A certain individual caught his attention.

He shifted his focus to a woman with jet-black hair that flowed like silk and crystal-blue eyes that seemed to shine with an almost otherworldly glow. Her beauty was mesmerizing—so captivating that a single glance could make anyone weak in the knees.

She was the one who caught everyone's attention. That's because she was sparing with someone. And not just anyone but the daughter of the current head of the Stormhale clan. The Stormhale clan was ranked 1 in the Covenant of Ten.

Seeing the two daughters of the head of the Thaleward clan and the Stormhale clan sparing was nothing sort of unbelievable. It was a sight to behold. However, though. The match had already ended. It was a shame really...

"H-hey, slap me for a bit, am I dreaming? Am I really seeing the two daughters of the most fearsome clan sparing with each other?!"

"A shame though, it had already ended..."

As everyone looked at them with awe, Professor Aiden called to them.

"Alright, everyone. Enough with that."

Hearing the professor's manly voice, everyone shifted their focus on the muscular man in front of him.

"I encourage everyone to do the exercise I demonstrated yesterday. Or you can choose to do any type of exercise you want; it doesn't really matter, as long as it benefits you!"

Hearing the professor's words, everyone released a big sigh, well, except for those people who mainly used a weapon. Everyone started to get moving and start their exercises or their training.

Zane and Vale watched as everyone started their exercises. They glanced at each other.

"I am going to do some exercises, Vale; you don't have to do it with me, though."

Vale stared at him blankly; he then sighed and said.

"Well, if you are going to do it, then I'll do it too."

Zane paused for a bit, then a faint smile appeared from his lips. He then responded with a casual tone.

"Really? Well, let's go then!"

Zane and Vale started to get moving, trying to find a comfortable spot. And as they did, a certain individual started to look at them. She had jet-black hair and crystal-like blue eyes.
