Royce angrily tossed his phone aside. Lionel had called again, and this time, Royce turned off his phone completely.
He stared intently at the woman lying on the bed.
His blue eyes were ablaze with fury!
Why had Harry sent Julia?
Why was she at the July Blossom Nightclub dressed as a maid?
A series of questions swirled in Royce's mind!
Could it be that she did this often? Was she constantly cheating on him?
He walked over and placed his hands on the edge of the bed, looking down at Julia's serene face. Surprisingly, his anger started to dissipate.
Julia lay there with her eyes closed, her long eyelashes fluttering like butterfly wings, seemingly tugging at his heart.
"So hot..." she mumbled, clearly feeling unbearably warm. She instinctively tugged at her collar.
A small patch of her pink skin was exposed.
Royce froze, his Adam's apple bobbing up and down.
The first time he and Julia had been intimate, she had insisted on turning off the lights out of shyness. The other times had been at home, in a dark room where he couldn't see anything.
This was the first time he had seen Julia's skin.
Just that small patch of pink skin transformed Royce's anger into a burning desire.
"Well, she's my wife anyway. Might as well go for it," Royce thought, his head slowly lowering as his lips moved closer to Julia's.
Just as their lips were about to touch, Julia's eyes suddenly flew open.
Seeing a handsome face magnified right in front of her, Julia's eyes widened in shock.
Royce was equally startled.
"Ahhh!" Julia screamed, instinctively flailing her arms and legs, pushing and kicking at Royce.
Royce quickly backed away!
Julia immediately sat up. "What are you doing here?!"
"I should be asking you the same thing!" Royce shot back, glancing at her.
Julia looked around, realizing she had no memory of this place. It seemed like... a hotel.
"Yeah, why am I here?" She scratched her head, trying to recall, and suddenly remembered the drink Harry had given her.
"There was something wrong with that drink!"
Julia looked at Royce, but instead of reacting, he was staring fixedly at...
Following his gaze, she saw her own exposed chest. She quickly covered herself with her hands and grabbed the nearby blanket, wrapping it tightly around herself.
"Pervert!" she yelled.
Royce smirked. "It's not like I haven't seen it before. Remember that one time...?"
Julia Avery's face turned bright red. "Shut up!"
Royce sighed quietly. "What did you just say? Something about the drink being spiked?"
"I was supposed to be serving drinks, but after Harry gave me that drink, I suddenly felt dizzy, and then... I don't remember anything. That Harry Edwards!" Julia clenched her fist and pounded the pillow beside her.
Royce frowned. "You... know Harry Edwards?"
"Know him? That's an understatement," Julia bit her lip.
"An understatement? So, you two are pretty close?" Royce continued to probe, sensing there was more to the story.
Julia lifted her head to look at Royce. "He was my first love. We dated for five years. What do you think?"
Hearing this, Royce instinctively clenched his fist. He hadn't expected Julia to have a first love, let alone a relationship that lasted five years, and that person was Harry Edwards.
How many more secrets did this woman have?
"Wait a minute. If you and Harry dated, why would he send his own woman to... here?"
"He probably didn't recognize me. I was wearing a mask at the time."
"Then how did you end up working at the July Blossom Nightclub as a waitress?"
Royce's questions came one after another.
Julia sighed. "My classmate has been working here as a waitress. She couldn't make it today, so she asked me to cover for her." She tilted her head and scrutinized Royce. "You've been asking me all these questions, but I haven't asked you. What are you doing here? And what were you planning to do just now?"
"I..." Royce reached out and tapped Julia on the head. "You should be thanking me. I'm your savior. Is this how you talk to your savior?"
"Savior?"
"Yes, indeed. I came here today to meet a client, and I saw a man carrying a girl. I thought something was off, so I followed them and brought you here from the room next door. Otherwise, who knows who you'd be sharing a bed with right now!"
Julia frowned. "Why did they bring me here?"
"I overheard that guy saying you were a gift from Harry to someone named President Butler, the CEO of Obsidian Empire. You know, the super-rich, super-smart, super-handsome one."
At this point, Royce was clearly running out of flattering words.
"That Harry Edwards!" Julia gritted her teeth in anger.
"Yeah! That Harry is no good!" Royce Butler echoed.
"And you! You're no good either!" Julia shouted at Royce.
"What did I do? I saved you, and you should be thanking me, not yelling at me!"
Julia let out a cold laugh. "What were you doing just now? Trying to take advantage of me while I was unconscious! Luckily, I woke up. Otherwise, who knows what you would have done to me..."
Seeing Julia's flushed face, Royce couldn't help but laugh. "What would I have done? Go on, say it!"
Julia shot him a fierce glare. "You know exactly what I mean!"
Royce chuckled but said nothing.
The two of them stood there in awkward silence, neither knowing what to do next.
Suddenly, Julia looked up at Royce. "Can you turn on the air conditioning? It's too hot in here."
Royce glanced at the air conditioning display on the wall. "Seventy-five degrees, and you're still hot?!"
Julia fanned herself with her hand. "Is it broken? It's really hot. Aren't you hot?"
It was then that Royce noticed Julia's flushed cheeks, especially around her cheekbones, which were as rosy as two clouds. Her exposed neck was also turning red!
She looked like she had either drunk too much or was... in heat.
Julia felt the changes in her body too. Her mouth was dry, and she felt itchy all over. She looked at her arm and saw that her skin was slowly turning rosy.
Something was wrong. The drug Harry gave her was definitely not just to make her unconscious!
Royce seemed to catch on as well. "How are you feeling? Is it uncomfortable? Do you need my help, hmm?"
