Chapter 2 - 2 The God

The god woke up and felt… chained. Immediately, he sensed his powers were being restricted somehow.

He looked at his hands. They were dirty—and somehow… too small. These were not his hands. They looked like the hands of a child.

Where even was he?

He looked up and saw a dark forest. His body was lying on the ground, with the disfigured corpse of a woman a few meters ahead. He knew this woman from somewhere. Yet he didn't know from where.

Only now did he notice the creatures around him. Monsters.

The weak kind.

But that was easy to say from the perspective of a god.

He stood up and looked at the goat-like monsters.

They had probably killed the body. Seeing her corpse on the ground somehow… angered him. He didn't know who she was, but there was a strange, deep feeling he couldn't explain.

The god rose to his feet. He wasn't planning on killing all these creatures. Instead, he decided to simply teleport away. A snap of his fingers and he'd be somewhere more pleasant.

But as he tried to focus his power, a heat began to build inside his body.

*Too much power for this body, I assume. Sigh.*

Human bodies were so inconvenient.

'Guess I'll have to fight then.'

By now, the first beast was close enough to strike—and it didn't hesitate.

The boy's hand lashed out, faster than even his own eyes could follow.

A loud **TWACK** echoed through the forest as the monster's body slammed into a tree twenty meters away.

Pain shot through the god's arm.

It was unfamiliar—but clearly bad. This human body was even more fragile than he had expected.

'That's a lot of monsters. Killing all of them while stuck in this body…'

He doubted it would work out. But since he didn't know what would happen if the boy's body died, he pushed those doubts aside and focused.

'I need to kill them before this body breaks. I'm sure it's possible.'

He tensed his legs, almost feeling the bones bend inside them.

His body vanished in a blur and crashed into another goat. He grabbed it by the horn and smashed it into the ground with enough force to break the horn off.

A weapon.'

He vanished again, colliding with the next beast. Blood sprayed from its side toward the boy, but before it could touch his coat, he was gone again.

'They're quite slow. But I need a decent amount of force to kill them. And one hit from those horns would probably break all my bones. I need to be careful.'

Another body hit the ground. Then another. And another.

He was making progress.

Suddenly, movement to his right:

One of the monsters reared up on its hind legs to attack. But it was too late.

The boy's body was already mid-air as the beast's head lunged toward him.

The god raised both arms in defense as the creature's skull slammed into him. Pain exploded through his limbs as he was sent flying backward.

His back slammed into rocks, and the air was ripped from his lungs. The pain was overwhelming—unlike anything he had ever felt.

But his will remained unbroken.

Before he could even hit the ground, he planted his boots into the cliff wall and launched himself forward again. Almost as fast as he had been thrown.

He clenched his teeth so hard, that they nearly cracked.

"HOW DARE YOU ATTACK A GOD, YOU FOOLISH CREATURE!"

He grabbed the beast's throat with both hands, lifted it, and slammed it into the earth.

A loud crack echoed through the trees as the creature's neck nearly tore from its body.

Fueled by rage, the god moved even faster, now barely giving the monsters a chance to react.

He ripped, sliced, kicked, and stabbed.

His foot came down on a goat's back, snapping its spine. His eyes scanned for the next target.

But there were none.

All of them were dead.

Only then did exhaustion settle over his mind like a dark blanket.

'I think… I think I'll rest for now.'

He stumbled a few steps, then dropped to his knees in the grass.

The world spun.

And then he collapsed into unconsciousness.
