Chapter 28 - Chapter 28: A Bigger Issue at the Wang Family

With a chicken bone in his mouth that he didn't want to throw away, Huang Jiu walked with his small, short legs firmly planted on the ground, leading the group toward the back garden of the villa.

The backyard was a small garden, with a variety of rocks and artificial mountains scattered around, and in the center was a swimming pool surrounded by these stones and plants, like a shining pearl.

As soon as we arrived, I immediately noticed that the two sinister forces of energy were coming from both ends of the pool and gathering toward the villa.

Huang Jiu stopped by the pool and pointed at it, saying, "On the middle line of the pool, measure about three meters from both ends, and start digging."

To Wang Zong, Huang Jiu's words were as if they were a royal command.

Chen Bo quickly began working, and not long after, the pool was drained, revealing the bottom.

During this time, Wang Zong tried to make a call for help, but I stopped him.

A city isn't particularly big or small; finding someone isn't that easy, but since many people have seen me, it's certain that the speed of finding me in Laoshan will increase. If I don't find anyone, only I and Chen Bo could do the work ourselves. After more than two hours of effort, we finally broke through the tiles and cement and unearthed a coiled black snake corpse.

Even under the sun, this thing felt freezing cold, emanating an evil aura that made anyone who touched it feel uncomfortable.

Chen Bo tried to smash it with a hammer, but it didn't break. I had to use two talismans to burn it.

After returning to the Wang family's villa, I took a walk upstairs and made sure the sinister aura had dissipated.

Chen Bo opened the door to check on the girl and found her sleeping peacefully with a calm expression, so he joyfully ran downstairs to report to Wang Zong.

I was still thinking about Wang Zong's son and daughter and whispered to Huang Jiu, "It's strange. I clearly saw that Wang Zong's son and daughter are both alive, so why did he say his son died three years ago?"

Huang Jiu twitched his clever little eyes and said, "Maybe the son was kidnapped, and Wang Zong thought he was dead, but the kidnappers raised him as their own son. Or maybe the kid got tired of the luxurious life and decided to experience poverty, so he faked his own death to... "

I slapped Huang Jiu on the head to stop him from continuing.

It was complete nonsense.

Just as I was about to go downstairs, the door behind me suddenly creaked open. I turned to see Wang Zong's daughter stepping out, standing at the doorway, staring at me without saying a word.

To be honest, her gaze was a bit intimidating.

Also, after the sinister aura had disappeared, I noticed that she had a mysterious energy around her that I couldn't penetrate.

It made me uneasy, along with an overwhelming feeling.

The girl standing before me was definitely not the one lying in bed.

She stared at me for a few seconds before turning and entering the room.

Huang Jiu, squatting on my shoulder, grinned and said, "Looks like the Wang family has more than one issue going on!"

I could sense something was off, my body chilled to the bone, and I shivered suddenly.

If what I suspected was true, the master from Hong Kong might be in danger, even possibly losing his life.

I had to call Uncle Er and quickly leave.

Downstairs, Uncle Er was counting money.

Seeing so much cash, he couldn't hide his excitement, even wondering if he should make another quick profit.

But that thought was quickly suppressed.

If my internal energy were a hundred times stronger than it is now, it might be a possibility.

But for now, taking the 200,000 yuan and leaving was the best choice.

As the saying goes, if you can't handle a big pot, don't try to cook a big meal; it's better to stay away from things you can't handle.

I knew my uncle's character; there were some things he couldn't say. I cleared my throat and said, "Wang Zong, you've been here the whole time, and Wang Miss's condition has improved."

"I've done what I had to do, taken the money I was supposed to, and when we walk out the door, everything will be settled. If there's anything else, we need to sit down and clear it up, whether it's a win or a loss."

"Of course!" Wang Zong smiled.

I wasn't trying to distance myself from anything; I just wanted to make sure that when the truth came out, my uncle wouldn't feel too embarrassed to refuse the 200,000 yuan.

After counting the money, Wang Zong invited us to dinner, but I declined on Uncle Er's behalf.

Once we got into the car, I thought about telling Uncle Er what was going on, but then decided against it.

He's only half knowledgeable; it wouldn't make sense to tell him.

After leaving the Wang family villa, Uncle Er pulled over and happily said, "Good boy, you really know what you're doing." He took five stacks of money out of his bag, handed the rest to me, and said, "I'm just tagging along, here's 50,000 for the rent tomorrow, the rest is yours."

Can't even pay the rent?

It seemed like what he said earlier wasn't just to make me feel better.

I replied, "Uncle Er, without you, I wouldn't have this opportunity. Take the money first, and let's plan things out. We'll try to make the business bigger and stronger."

Uncle Er gripped the steering wheel with both hands, his eyes reddening, as if all the grievances of the past few years had rushed to his heart, and he couldn't speak.

I sighed inwardly.

If I hadn't been fortunate enough to have a breakthrough, Grandpa really would have ruined two generations of our family.

After a moment, Uncle Er composed himself, and seeing that I was insistent, he stopped pushing back. "Then I'll keep it for now. When I have time, I'll bring it back to your parents and let them rest more. I haven't looked after the family much in these years, and I feel ashamed."

"Uncle Er, please don't say that!" I felt a little upset at his words.

Fortunately, Huang Jiu interrupted at that moment, "Go back? Going back is absolutely not an option."

If it went back, it wouldn't be just a limp arm or a broken leg—it would be missing arms and legs. Naturally, he wouldn't dare to go back.

But if I manage to deal with the Laoshan issue, I'll definitely go back.

Not to mention, my dad couldn't get a second child and is relying on me for his old age.

Uncle Er put the money bag back on the floor, saying to Huang Jiu, "The things you gave me are a bit difficult to unload, but don't worry, once I sell them, I'll settle the account with you."

Huang Jiu didn't care and said, "Those things are nothing to me, take them if you like."

That wasn't a lie—his family could dig up a grave and find more than just that.

But I reminded Uncle Er, "Those things are unclean. If you can't sell them, just leave them be, to avoid trouble."

Uncle Er nodded.

In the city, there are laws to follow, and some things shouldn't be touched lightly.

At noon, we didn't return to the store. Uncle Er took us to a restaurant. After lunch, we went to the pedestrian street, where he bought me a few sets of clothes and also got Huang Jiu a cat bag.

It was my first time seeing a cat bag, and it was perfect for carrying Huang Jiu.

Inside, Huang Jiu didn't mind being enclosed. There was a transparent dome in the back, and he could see the world while lying down. He was overjoyed.

At around 7 p.m., we returned to the store.

From a distance, I saw a woman in her thirties standing at the door. She was stylish and had an above-average appearance. I thought she was a client, but when I saw Uncle Er's reaction, I guessed she might be the landlady.

As soon as Uncle Er got out of the car, the woman stormed over, grabbed him, and shouted, "Li Er, you coward! I told you, if you can't pay the rent, get into my bed and the storefront will be yours."

I was holding bags and drinking a beverage, and almost spit it out in surprise.
