It had been maybe 3 days since I was "kidnapped". they call it keeping me "safe" but I'll think of it and call it as I want . Daisy had been keeping watch over me and not letting me come out of the den, Ash would occasionally come and in and speak to me. Ginger kept busy but he was a great cook, I'll admit….still though I had been wearing the same dress for 3 days straight…it was torture.
" You know they'll be looking for me, right? "
I said and then Ginger spoke up.
"We've already looked into it, Duke Burnelay sent out a search party. Many nobles in the empire already know of your disappearance"
He is?… that came as a shock to to me.
"Duke Burnelay…he's actually searching for me?" I stared at Ginger for a moment… come to think of it, what was ginger? I know Ash is a fairy and Daisy is a descendant of a phoenix. But what is Ginger? What's a creature who's about 3 feet in height and has hairy feet??.
"Ginger what type of magical creature are you?" Would that okay to ask? I don't know what is offensive to them.
Ginger spoke up
"I'm a Hobbit, small humanoid race. We hobbits tend to enjoy a simple life."
Ginger lifted up his hair and I noticed his ears were pointy, I hadn't noticed it before because his hair covered them before.
"I had no idea that's a thing, seems like all books on mithycial creatures are scarce."
"There was a time when humans and mythical beings lived in harmony. We too feel emotions and feel pain…we are no monsters. But that's a long lost part of history now, humans chattered that that harmony centuries ago. Nobody's alive to really know what led to the end of that harmony".
That's not what I had heard before…I used to hear stories of how mythical creatures were evil beings, beings that seek to hurt humans. Had that been a lie? ginger isn't like that…he's been good to me.
"Ginger…. I don't-….. I mean…no never mind…."
I knew deep down what I wanted to say but I couldn't bring myself to say it. Was it that hard to admit that I felt in my heart…trully…that he wasn't a monster, but so many years of hearing the opposite had led to me feeling conflicted. I noticed Daisy was staring, I have no idea what her problem with me is.
A day later Daisy took to take a bath in a river nearby. As I walked out of the den I noticed so many…magical creatures, they were staring at me in wonder but some also looked somewhat scared of me….rightfully so I was a human after all. As we walked to the river, I noticed in the distance something sorta see through, while Daisy was distracted I ran towards it….wow what is that… I put my hand up, whatever it was had some force in it as if pushing me back. How interesting; I was ready to extend my hand and see what was behind it, but before I could Daisy pulled me back.
"That's a magical barrier. don't touch it. It's meant to keep our location hidden for the safety of us all, now hurry come along"
She took me over to the river while she looked away. when I got in the water it felt so cold, oh how I missed life back at the mansion, where my maids were in charge of bathing and dressing me and everything else. After daisy handed me a towel and also some clothes…clothes she called it but what is this??. I held the clothes in hands as if inspecting it and it looked more like rags to me?!. Are these…pants?
"You don't actually expect to wear this…do you? these are rags and this green shade is not my color at all! I am a noble. I will not be caught wearing this!."
Is what I said but I ended up wearing it anyway. It actually wasn't bad, women… especially noble women never wore pants back in the kingdom but it was actually quite comfortable so to say. brown pants, a creamy white shirt under and a long dark green tunic with embroidery. Of course also….dark brown muddy looking boots. I don't know what Daisy did with my dress but whatever…back home I had many dresses.
When we got to the "village" I thought Daisy would make me go back to Ginger's den but no, she let me walk around. There were many mithycal creatures….I didn't really want. After knowing how they've been treated by humans—-I knew for sure they would hold hostility towards. That might've better but no…they treated me with kindness.
"You're…that human. The council told everybody they had brought back a human"
I turned around….and saw a half human half horse magical being…he looked to be around my age or older. His skin was dark and his eyes were a honey brown color, his hair was dark brown and curly. for some reason I felt comfortable around him, maybe because he spoke kindly.
"I am….wow I didn't realize everybody knew about me"
"Everybody does, it's all they can talk about. Most of us including me have never left the barrier. You're something we've never seen before."
"You don't seem scared of me"
"I'm not: in fact most of us aren't. But I won't lie—-some are wary of you."
"Figured that out. I can't really blame them—"
I suddenly felt something pulling at my dress, I turned around and saw a white horse…no…a unicorn? it looked small? Definitely not a grown unicorn…. White unicorn with a horn and his hair was pink. My heart started beating fast. Oh wow it looked so cute!.
"He seems to have taken a liking to you. And he may not be the only one" I looked at him confused before I saw 2 twin fairy girls, short with freckles and both had light green hair and purple eyes, they stood staring at me just like how I had been staring at the unicorn. I chuckled.
Maybe being here wasn't that bad. If only it could have stayed that way….
