Yejun leaned back in his chair, eyes flicking to the clock. Five minutes late. And just as he thought it, Doyun strolled in—like he hadn't just blown up a whole wall a few hours ago. Whatever. Yejun didn't care what Doyun did. Not his problem. But today's detention was different. There was a teacher in the room this time. Which probably meant no sneaking up to the fifth floor. That sucked. What surprised Yejun more was the teacher himself—it was the potions teacher, Mr. Nikolaou. The guy never left the hallway of his own classroom. He only came out for lunch and, like, sometimes dinner. So yeah, it was weird seeing him here. Mr. Nikolaou looked like he hadn't slept in a decade. Dude was young early twenties, max but had the vibe of someone who'd been cursed with centuries of unpaid overtime. Messy black hair, permanent eye bags, and clothes that looked like they hadn't been ironed once in their life. Without a word, the guy tossed them each a towel. Cleaning duty. Great. So fun.
Yejun picked up his cloth with a sigh. Doyun didn't even bother. He leaned back against one of the desks, arms crossed, and just stared.
With those eyes again.
"Stop looking at me like that," Yejun muttered, smacking him with the towel. "Fuck, what was that for?" Doyun said, rubbing his arm. Yejun rolled his eyes. "I can tell you've got something to say, so just say it already." Doyun grinned, slow and smug like he'd been waiting for this. "Hmm, if you say so. There's been some weird rumors going around." Yejun, who had been looking down, looked up immediately. "Rumors?"
"Yeah. About the fifth floor."
Yejun froze.
Shit. Who knew?
"And also," Doyun continued, "people are talking about your little friend, Asher."
Yejun tilted his head. "Huh? Why?"
Doyun cracked his neck. "He didn't show up today, right? Well, turns out someone saw him walking out of the bathroom earlier."
Yejun glanced around before replying. "...I know about that. I was in that bathroom, actua—"
Doyun cut him off.
"Oh, I know."
Yejun narrowed his eyes. "How?"
Doyun just shrugged. "I have my ways."
God. Seriously? This guy. Whatever. Mr. Nikolaou was already passed out at the desk. Poor guy needed the sleep anyway. Today's detention was painfully boring. And to make it worse it was Friday. Which meant Astronomy class was next. Yejun was not in the mood. He'd already decided he was gonna skip it. But of course, as he walked out of the classroom, fate hated him. He bumped right into Sara and Jae. Shit. Both of them had Astronomy. And if he told them he was skipping, he was screwed. Sara might just annoy him into going. But Jae? That guy was built different. He'd probably report Yejun for ditching. So Yejun just stood awkwardly in the doorway, giving them a stiff smile. "Hey, guys! Long time no see, right?" Sara lit up. "Yep! They pulled us out for the activity thing—you know, where they make students help arou—"
Yejun quickly cut her off. If he didn't, she'd talk for the next hour.
"Yeah, yeah, I know what you're talking about." He gave her a forced smile.
"Oh, okay!" she giggled. "Anyway, they said it might be extended because, like... stuff's been happening in the school. I think it was on the fi—" But before she could finish, Doyun shoved past them. "Excuse me. Move. Bitch." His voice was cold. Unusually cold—even for him. It wasn't like he even knew Sara or Jae. He was just mean like that.
He walked ahead a few steps... then turned around and looked Yejun up and down. Like he was thinking.
Then he faced Sara and Jae again.
"Sorry," he said flatly. "I'm taking Yejun. He's got business with me." And with that, he grabbed Yejun by the collar and yanked him forward.
"Wait, but—" Sara started, but Doyun shot her a look so dirty it could kill, and kept walking.
They walked like that for a while—Doyun dragging him by the shirt—until they reached the dungeons.
Yejun smacked him upside the head. "Damn it, why is it always my head…" Doyun muttered. Yejun didn't respond. He just kept walking. All he wanted was to get some sleep and wake up early tomorrow. Simple dreams. What should he even do tomorrow? He walked through the quiet hallways, finally reaching his room. As always, the gun above the door caught his eye. Seriously. Still there? He debated ripping it off—but nah. Probably glued with some weird magic. Yejun opened the door, dropped his bag with a thud, and let out a long breath.
Having his own place felt good. Sure, it was tiny, but it was his. No roommates, no drama. Just silence. The walls where also soundproof.
He took a quick shower and then collapsed onto his bed.
Sleep sounded real nice right now.
