Chapter 15 - Chapter 15: The Ghost General

Two days later

A new announcement from the Reincarnation Game echoed in every player's mind.

[Reincarnation Game Update]

The developers have taken suggestions from the player community and made partial adjustments to the game content.

In response to complaints about the difficulty of obtaining gear, we've adjusted the prices of equipment in the game shop and increased the drop rate of equipment from Corrupted Monsters.

Additionally, we're launching the Life System. Players who aren't skilled in combat can now focus on life skills.

By repeated practice, players can improve their life skills to craft weapons and gear, build houses, process materials, and more.

Life professions include: cooking, crafting, animal husbandry, farming, logging, gathering, mechanical engineering, blacksmithing, printing, stonemasonry, sewing, leatherworking, trading, and other routes.

We've also opened the Quest System. Players can now collect daily missions from the bulletin board in the Starter Village.

500 new player slots have been added, to be recruited randomly.

The dense wall of text made players dizzy.

Life System, Quest System, New Player Recruitment!

Most players quickly opened their system panels to explore the new life system.

"Cooking skills require buying recipes from the shop first, then gathering materials and trying repeatedly. I mean, just one recipe costs 500 reward points, I can't even afford that."

"Think about it differently. One plate of Golden Fried Rice restores 50 mana, that's almost as good as expensive recovery potions!"

"But there's still a chance of failure. If the crafting fails, you lose all your materials too."

"Just level up your proficiency! The higher it is, the better the success rate. Eventually, you won't need to buy recovery potions from the shop, you'll save a ton of reward points."

Chatter filled the Reincarnation Game world.

Tacticians from all the major Ninja Villages started discussing the implications of the game update and whether there were opportunities for profit.

[Daily Quest: Hunt 10 Ghost Soldiers]

Reward: 1 Reincarnation Jar

After receiving the quest, Tsunade's hands itched with excitement upon seeing the reward.

To her, although Ghost Soldiers were slightly higher-level, they were no match for someone fully equipped in green-tier gear.

After easily completing the quest

A Reincarnation Jar appeared in her inventory.

Pop.

Tsunade reached into the jar, pierced the glowing white orb, and revealed the reward inside.

A piece of damaged armor from a Ghost Soldier.

"Just materials?"

Tsunade curled her lip, feeling disappointed in the jar's contents.

These damaged armor materials used to only be worth 2 reward points if sold to the shop.

Now, they could be used to forge gear, but still required further processing.

In general, not very valuable.

Just as Tsunade was about to leave the Starter Village to level up, she suddenly heard a shout nearby.

"I got a skill! Self-Destructing Robot: Chaser!"

A burly man, eyes filled with reverence, held a glowing skill orb in both hands.

Tsunade quickly opened the game shop and searched for the skill.

It was listed at 1000 reward points, a jackpot!

Jealousy nearly overflowed from Tsunade's eyes. She glanced again at the worthless materials in her own inventory, her rage boiling.

Even in the Reincarnation Game, is my gambling luck still this bad?

Impossible!

Now that I'm in another world, everything should be a fresh start!

Tsunade took a deep breath and angrily shoved her way through the crowd back to the bulletin board.

[Daily quests can only be claimed for free once. To claim again, you must pay 10 reward points.]

This was a rule set by Fang Yi.

If the Reincarnation Jars were directly sold, players would be suspicious. If they consistently yielded low-value items, players might stop buying them altogether.

But if the jars were given as quest rewards, most players would adopt a "might as well try" attitude. After all, whether they accepted the quest or not, they'd be hunting Corrupted Monsters anyway. Completing the quest earned them a free Reincarnation Jar.

And this mindset

If the jars only gave out low-value items, fine. But the moment someone pulled a big prize?

Players' desires would be ignited.

At that point, to take the quest again would require payment.

And without even realizing it, players would fall into the trap, spending their hard-earned reward points to help Fang Yi hunt Corrupted Monsters…

And loving it.

Just like Tsunade now, she kept accepting daily quests, burning through 100 reward points in total.

The most valuable item she pulled? A low-quality healing potion worth 10 reward points.

However, thanks to her relentless jar-opening streak, Tsunade finally became a Class Holder.

Holy Profession.

A special organization that trains the body and wields the power of holy light, extremely strong physically and able to suppress evil.

A relatively powerful class.

These Random Class Scrolls are also sold in the shop. If you're unsatisfied with your class, you can buy another scroll, gather the materials, complete the task, and get a new class.

Some players did the math

Getting a new class costs 500 reward points.

So for those who get a fitting class right away, it's a win, they save the cost.

But for those who draw a poor or ill-fitting class, they can only silently curse the damn Mysterious Merchant in their hearts.

Deep within the Ruined Castle

On a rusted iron throne sat a hulking skeleton wielding a greatsword, clad in pitch-black armor.

Ghostly energy seeped from the armor's cracks, condensing into bluish flames that clung to the surface.

Even the slightest flicker of these ghost flames scorched the ground black.

[Ghost General (Elite)], Level 13.

When Fang Yi first created the game framework, he made sure the leveling system was tight and meaningful.

Every 10 levels was a major power gap, just like in the ninja world, where a Chunin could easily beat a Genin.

Once past Level 10, both attributes and skills would increase significantly.

So

Reaching Level 10 required massive amounts of experience. That's why even Mei Terumi, despite using all of Kirigakure's resources, hadn't yet broken through.

This Ghost General, under the command of the ghost mage Salina, was far stronger than any ordinary ghost.

If players could kill the Ghost General, it would be like chopping off one of Salina's strong arms.

The white-haired loli said anxiously,

"Master, there's no way the players can beat the Ghost General. Should we step in and guide them to level up first?"

"No need."

Fang Yi said calmly,

"A mere Ghost General? I bet it won't last three days before the players rip it apart and fight over that nice-looking greatsword."

The white-haired loli couldn't understand her master's thinking. She just assumed he didn't realize the massive gap between the Ghost General and the players.

She hurriedly explained,

"The Ghost General's greatsword is a Bloodfiend Greatsword that has slain hundreds of knights. According to the classification system you created, it's a level 10 purple-grade weapon. The blood-red armor he's wearing is a level 10 blue-grade set."

"That blonde, well-endowed female player you personally recruited earlier, she was able to challenge level 6 players with just a level 1 green set."

"Now think about it: the Ghost General is fully equipped with a blue set and a purple greatsword. Can you really grasp the power gap between him and the players?"

Seeing Fang Yi fall into deep thought, the white-haired loli finally sighed in relief.

She had been genuinely worried that Fang Yi, in a moment of overconfidence, would recklessly sacrifice players to the Ghost General.

But then, unexpectedly, Fang Yi lifted his head.

"Publish the Ghost General's data in the server channel. Highlight the equipment section, and make it clear that the Bloodfiend Greatsword and Blood-Red Armor Set are guaranteed drops."

A purple-grade greatsword?

A blue-grade armor set?

At first, Fang Yi had been concerned that players might give up on hunting the Ghost General.

But the mistake, the fatal mistake, was on the Ghost General's part.

He was decked out in high-quality loot from head to toe.

And that? That was basically injecting pure adrenaline into the players' veins.
