I swallowed down nothing. Chapter 1 - CHAPTER ONE

Serena

"As of today henceforth, you're no longer my daughter. I Alpha Dovan disown you Serena. You are a disgrace and a disappointment to this family." My father spat.

I looked up tearfully at the face that once held love for me. The eyes that once doted on me, the eyes that always looked at me with affection. Now all I saw was hatred and disgust.

Why me? Was it a sin to be born a hybrid? Why did my once loving father suddenly hated me simply because I was a werewolf and a vampire?

I had always tried to be the best daughter to my father, when I first found out about my vampire traits I was so scared of what father would say so I kept it a secret. For two years I managed to hid it away from everyone. I went out to feed only after the last security shift late in the night. It would have continued to be a secret only if I hadn't fall into the trap set by my step sisters.

"Father-"

"Don't." He growled at me forcing back the words down my throat. "Don't you dare use that title to address me again." I ignored his warning and continued talking.

"I've been your daughter for twenty three years father. Even though I wasn't the perfect daughter, even though I did things I wasn't supposed to do as the Alpha's daughter, are..." I swallowed what I initially wanted saying. "Are you seriously going to have me banished simply because I didn't meet up to your expectations?"

"I deeply regret the day I found out you're a hybrid." He spat on the floor and walked out leaving me feeling miserable.

If I knew things would turned out this way, I wouldn't have joined the group to go on a race. I wouldn't have let my step sisters jeers get to my head.

I overheard my father's voice as he told his guards to have me thrown in the dungeon till morning before they threw me out of the pack. I chuckled tearfully, I guess there was still some compassion left.

I didn't put up a fight as the guards roughly dragged me out of the throne room into his cell reserved only for bloody criminals.

 ***

"And who do we have here?" The three ever most annoying voices I would never forget said in unison. Vera and Jessica with their witch of a mother.

I bluntly ignored them even as they called me names and insulted and called me all sort of things. When they were done babbling, they left.

The only thought I had in mind was how I would get my money from my room, I couldn't ust let the old man banished me without any pocket money on me. I wouldn't last a day without food.

'Is that all you're worried about, you butthole?'

Celyn, my inner wolf screamed at me. I almost jumped up from the bench I sat on which also served as my bed for the night.

"Stop shouting, it's not like I planned all of this but all I know is that we will sail through. We must." She whined softly but said nothing.

I sighed deeply and glanced up at the cell. I took my time to study the iron rods used to cross the cell slowly lowering my eyes to the lock. It was a good thing my adventures taught me how to pick locks. Don't get the wrong idea, I just wanted to get my money and return back to the cell and wait till dawn when I would finally say my farewell to Regal pack.

I moved past the almost empty hallway that would lead me straight to my room. I had always hated the fact that my dad, sorry ex dad allowed my junior step sisters the privilege to pick the most fancy room leaving me with nothing more than a room reserved only for maids. What was I even saying, the maids room was even more beautiful than my shabby looking room.

A smile found it's way to my lips when I took my chest of money, I packed everything inside a bag then added some of my cherished items before I walked out of the room.

Morning came so quickly, very fast than I had ever wanted. Or was it because today held the worst sentence one has ever received? More so it was my twenty fourth birthday, what bad omen could possibly befall someone than this ?

I allowed the guards lead me towards the execution site where my sentence would be announced before all to hear.

As I walked towards the execution site, the cool morning breeze carried the murmurs and whispers of the Regal pack members to my ears. I recognized some of the faces, people I had grown up with against my father's order. But as I looked at them, their expressions were filled with a mix of curiosity on what the alpha's punishment would be and contempt because I was a hybrid.

The guards stopped in front of the Alpha's throne, where my father sat, his face stern and unforgiving. My step-sisters, Vera and Jessica stood beside him and in their absent mother's place, their eyes gleamed with triumph.

Yeah. I bet the thoughts running through their head was. We finally got rid of the annoying pest.

"Serena," At the mention of my name, I dragged off my eyes from the two she-devils and faced my ex father as he passed out his judgement.

"Hybrid and former daughter of Alpha Dovan," my father's voice boomed. "You have been found unworthy of your place within the Regal pack. Your...condition is an abomination, and your actions have brought shame to our family and pack."

I felt a sting from his words, but I stood tall, refusing to show any weakness. I had long cast out any form of weakness out of my body the last time my boyfriend broke up with me, the seventh boyfriend actually. Maybe relationship was'nt for me.

"As of today, you are hereby banished from the Regal pack. You will leave our lands immediately and never return. If you are found within our borders again, you will be put to death."

I bit down on my lips and took one last glance at the pack members who had began to murmur among themselves, some nodding in agreement, others looking uncertain. Well whatever, it wasn't like they could null the alpha's judgement.

I took a deep breath, and tried to process the heaviness of the sentence. Banished and alone.

But as I looked out at the sea of faces, I saw one person who didn't seem to be celebrating my downfall. The figure stood at the back of the crowd, I could only see his eyes because he had on a mask, his eyes locked onto mine with an intensity that made my heart skip a beat.

Who was it? And why did the person seem to care?

The guards stepped forward, ready to escort me away. I took one last look at my father, but he had already turned his back on me.

I smiled wryly to myself. It seemed I was finally free to forge my own path. But as I walked away from the only home I had ever known, I couldn't shake the feeling that my journey was only just beginning, and it would be filled with more danger and uncertainty than I could ever have imagined.

Even though my ex father asked his guards to escort me out in the car until I was left alone on my own, I still continued to hope I could make it out of the five borders alive.

The Regal pack was the strongest and richest among the five borders that surrounded the werewolves clan. The White moon pack, Blue ocean pack, Scarlet pack, the Red moon pack and the Regal pack itself.

Just the mere thought of passing through the white moon pack ignited hot sparks of fear through my veins. If Regal was ruthless, the white moon was more and would never let a wandering hybrid like me pass through their land.

Ah, this was so frustrating.

"It's either you walk fast or end up getting dragged on the floor." One of the guards escorting me out of the pack area spat at me.

I looked around me and shuddered a bit. This wasn't the way out, even though I really wasn't the type who was interested in political affairs, I knew the layout of Regal pack like how I knew the back of my palm. I managed to steal a glance at the car packed far behind us.

We got to a point in an alleyway and one of the guards pushed me to the ground. I whimpered at the force my knee used to kiss the ground. "What do you guys think you're doing right now? Aren't we supposed to be parting ways now?" I asked and looked from one guards face to the other.

"One of them laughed. "You actually thought when the Alpha said to discard you, he meant to let you out of the pack alive? He chuckled. "Don't be so ridiculous."

I snickered. Was that why they were rounding the Regal pack without throwing me out of the borders? Just to kill me then throw away my corpse outside the pack so it would look like I died from exhaustion because I couldn't last a day.

"But wouldn't it be a waste of such beautiful body if we just do as we were ordered without first having a taste of you?"

"Oh, I've been dying to know how she tastes like." Another guard chipped in." I tried so much to swallow down the boiling rage bubbling everywhere inside of my body, at the same time trying to calm my angry wolf from bursting out from inside her cage.

I glanced back to the guard behind me then towards the one by my side, and lastly to the one standing before me before I finally dragged my eyes down to my binded wrist.

I exhaled sharply and before they could register what I was about doing, I already knocked one to the ground and was out of the alleyway going straight to the bushes, courtesy of a vampire.

Fully aware the two guards were still chasing after me, I increased my pace not stopping for a single breath.

Darn it. If only I could free myself off this frustrating ropes.

I looked ahead of me and saw a black figure...not a figure actually but a car, a black car.

I ran towards it's direction, relieved I could finally escape the guards whose yells had now became more clearer.

I hit the car door while I looked back scared one of the guards would pop up from nowhere and grab me. 'Please' I mumbled as I continued to hit the car door.

At that point, my whole sense of reasoning was no longer with me, who in his or her right senses would just run to a car parked in the middle of the bush begging to be let in? But right now all I wanted was just to be out of this darn place. I would think about the consequences later.

"Help me...Help me please." I screamed still pounding hard on the door.
