Chapter 2 - shattered mirror

Jun hao took his time to analyse what the spirit was saying.

It was not easy for him to accept the fact that this war has been going on for million's of year's, my goodness, this can't be real.

The spirit continued to speak.

" Oh it's very real"

Jun hao scared out of his mind mummerd to himself "can you read my mind or something, please don't do that it's scary".

"Hahahahahaha, how can my great grandson be this weak, the hao family has truly fallen.

The spirit now sat down in the darkness, where Jun hao was sitting, the spirit looked up into the darkness, "now listen to me".

The spirit's voice, echoing in the endless darkness of Jun Hao's dream, was heavy with ancient knowledge. "This infinite darkness you perceive, this abyss that stretches beyond comprehension... it is the core of our creator."

Jun Hao recoiled, his mind reeling. "How... how is that possible?" he stammered, the words barely audible in the vast emptiness.

The spirit continued, unfazed by Jun Hao's shock. "When our creator cast his core into the heart of the multiverse, it did not simply vanish. It evolved, infused with his lost half omniscience, transforming into a tool – a source of unimaginable potential. We call it... the Shattered Mirror."

A faint glimmer of light pierced the darkness, revealing the spectral form of the spirit. "The Shattered Mirror," he continued, his voice taking on a somber tone, "will grant a single wish. But understand this: that wish is granted only to you. It cannot resurrect the dead, it cannot bestow riches, nor can it grant immortality."

The glimmer intensified, focusing on a shimmering ring that materialized on Jun Hao's outstretched hand. "When you awaken, you must ask the ring for your wish. Remember, it is a one-time use, a single opportunity to change your fate. Choose wisely. Since you possess no Echoic Energy within your body, you will need to use your own blood to unlock the wish. But do not despair, young one."

The spirit's voice gained urgency, a plea resonating in the void. "When you awaken, you shall ask the ring for a wish, remember it's only a one time use so think carefully, since you don't have echoes energy in your body, you need your blood to unlock the wish, I will now wake you up, please becareful , remember with power of absolute cultivation, you can resurect people you have lost, you can protect them, you have nothing to loose, so please, this ring chooses you, please become strong, strong enough to protect this world, this world is now ruled by darkness, become the light."

The darkness began to recede, the spectral form fading as Jun Hao felt himself being pulled back towards consciousness. The spirit's final words echoed in his mind, a burden and a promise: "With the power of true cultivation, you can protect them. You have nothing to lose. This ring chooses you... please, become strong. Strong enough to protect this world."

Jun Hao blinked, his eyes adjusting to the dim light filtering through cracks in the ceiling. The silence was deafening, unlike the bustling chaos he remembered from the old days. A heavy quiet hung over everything; not even the skittering of an ant broke the stillness of the deserted village.

Torn between the weight of the spirit's words and the crushing reality before him, Jun Hao rose to his feet. He stumbled out of the dilapidated orphanage house and began walking, his steps heavy and hesitant, towards what was once his father's home - the place where he grew up, now a haunted memory.

He stopped before the charred remains of the familiar structure. "This is it, huh?" he whispered, his voice cracking with emotion. "This is where the Nyx dimension appeared… where it all ended."

He was trapped once more, engulfed by a suffocating sense of guilt and regret. "If only I hadn't wasted my life... if only I hadn't squandered my potential chasing fleeting pleasures… if only I had listened to my mother, dedicated myself to cultivation instead of gambling away our wealth…" He clenched his fists, tears stinging his eyes. "Maybe… just maybe… I would have been strong enough to stop that Nyx. But I didn't. I am… I am scared."

With a deep breath, Jun Hao pushed open the ruined door of the Hao family home. Inside, amongst the debris and ashes, he carried a piece of paper, covered in frantic scribbles. He had spent hours agonizing over what to wish for, listing everything he thought he needed, the ability to cultivate, the power to find treasures, superior talent... But in the end, he knew. He knew what he truly desired.

His decision was made, Jun Hao carefully removed the shimmering ring from his right index finger. His hand trembled as he picked up a shard of broken glass from the floor, its edge glinting ominously in the dim light. With a sharp intake of breath, he steeled himself and made a shallow cut on his palm, pouring his blood, drop by precious drop, into the hollow of the ring.

The air crackled with power. The weather shifted violently, a storm brewing from nothing. Lightning rent the sky, illuminating the desolate village with an eerie, ethereal glow. The ground trembled, a tremor that shook the very foundations of the world. Far and wide, cultivators felt the surge of immense energy, a ripple in the fabric of reality. Some dismissed it as a natural anomaly, but others, sensing something far more profound, turned their gazes towards the source, their hearts filled with both awe and temptation.

Jun Hao, his face pale and drawn, knelt on the cold, cracked floor. He closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and spoke, his voice filled with a solemn reverence.

"This is my creator's core," he declared, his words echoing in the charged atmosphere.

"I, Jun Hao of the Hao clan, bow in respect to the creator. I do not have many goals left in this life. My family is gone. I have no friends to speak of. As my only hope, I shall make my wish."

The ring glowed intensely, turning into what seems to be a mirror, bathing the room in an ethereal light. From its depths, the spirit's voice, amplified and commanding, boomed: "What do you wish for?"

Jun Hao opened his eyes, his gaze resolute, his voice unwavering.

"I wish to surpass my creator. I wish to have the ability to infinitely evolve into something far superior than my normal self as of today, forever!"

The mirror shuddered, the power of the wish overwhelming its ancient structure. Cracks spiderwebbed across its surface. The energy building in the sky intensified, reaching a fever pitch. Then, with a deafening roar, a bolt of pure, white lightning descended from the heavens, striking the mirror with devastating force. The mirror, unable to contain the power, shattered, directing the full brunt of the celestial strike into Jun Hao's body.

His blood vessels ruptured, his bones cracked, his very essence felt as if it were being torn apart at a subatomic level. He felt as if he were being sliced by a thousand swords. He felt himself fading out with pure pain.

The earthquake intensified, rattling the earth for what felt like an eternity though it was just 30 minutes. The cultivators who had sensed the surge of power raced towards the village, pushing their speed to the limit. But when they arrived, all they found was a smoldering ruin, a burning house consumed by an unnatural fire.

And then, as the last embers flickered, a tear in reality ripped open, a swirling vortex of dark energy of death. From the Nyx dimension, a familiar, horrifying species emerged. Nyx the messengers of death, drawn by the immense power unleashed, had arrived.
