Roulan jumped into Kieran's arms as soon as he stepped out of the carriage. She wore a beautiful green dress that greatly complemented her amazing figure, but what caught Kieran's eye was the streaks of green that had appeared on her dark black hair.
"Master, your wife is awakening a special physique," Sindra exclaimed excitedly, and Kieran could see her flying around Roulan and closely examining her body.
He knew about special physiques; they were rare but extremely powerful. The thought of his wife having a special physique brought a smile to his face.
"What type of Physique?" Kieran asked after Sindra was done inspecting Roulan's body.
"I don't know, but I can tell it is related to plants," Sindra said, "We will know if or when her constitution fully awakens."
Kieran immediately picked up on the "if" in Sindra's statement and realized it was not a given that Roulan would fully awaken her physique.
After hugging Kieran, the excited Roulan took Kieran and Baixue's hands and pulled them towards their courtyard, clearly impatient to share what had happened to her.
Back in Kieran's room, Baixue used a formation disc to seal the room from possible prying eyes before Roulan started her narration.
It turned out that her tribulation arrived before she could even refine a third of Kieran's yang chi and therefore had to face the tribulation with the yang essence still inside her. As the dragon tattoo helped her refine the tribulation lightning, the energy mixed with Kieran's yang chi and stimulated her blood essence, triggering the awakening of her special physique.
But that was not the cause of her joy.
"I can sense something powerful in the mountain ranges to the east of Long City." She spoke animatedly. "I believe it will be of great use to us."
After listening to his wife's story, Kieran got to his feet. "Let's go check it out."
Baixue and Roulan follow him out of the house, heading for the shed where the long clan kept their tamed flying beasts.
----
In the alchemy tower, Prince Caleb receives word of the Golden Clover auction event, and an evil smile spreads across his face. He has been thinking about how to get Roulan away from the Long Clan in their home turf, but now that he has seen the catalogue for the auction, he was sure Roulan will show up. After all, many in the alchemy tower knew she was always on the lookout for ingredients that could make pills to heal spiritual roots, and the Phoenix tear fruit advertised by the auction house was one of the best.
"We leave for Yidu tomorrow," He spoke with a sinister smile, a plan already forming in his mind.
He had noticed that Roulan had a dormant constitution when they first met, and after a series of covert tests, he knew that it was of the heaven grade and it could boost vitality. He has been planning to woo her and steal her blood essence before she finds a way to awaken her constitution. But Roulan had always kept her distance, never giving him a chance.
"I will have your heavenly physique soon," He thought to him self. But little did he know that Roulan had partially awakened her constitution, and his chance was long lost.
---
After using the excuse of taking his wives on a picnic, Kieran convinced his Uncle to let him use one of their flying beasts, a massive brown falcon.
The three flew for hours, with Baixue directing the bird as Roulan navigated by feeling, heading deeper into the mountain range. Kieran noticed that the concentration of spiritual energy seemed to increase as they went deeper.
"Let's go down here," Kieran said, after Sindra informed him that she felt something from a small stream flowing below them.
The water is filled with spiritual chi. Kieran noticed as soon as his feet touched the water. A silent agreement passed among them, and they continued on foot following the stream to a spring flowing out of a large boulder at the foot of one of the mountains.
"There is something behind this boulder, I can feel it," Roulan said, placing her hand on the smooth surface of the stone, only to suddenly pull her hand back when she felt something prick her finger.
The three jumped back, becoming more alert, and watched as the boulder trembled slightly before it started glowing a luminous green. A portal formed before them a few seconds later, with dense spiritual Chi flowing out of it.
"Master, I feel we might find an opportunity for your evolution inside." Sindra hovered before the portal before diving inside.
Kieran also stepped through the portal after giving a reassuring smile to his wives, and the two immediately followed after him. They found themselves in a beautiful valley, rich in spiritual chi, a few spiritual herbs and fruits were scattered all over, a large angel oak tree stood at the very center, and a small wooden hut was nestled under the shade of the magnificent tree.
"This is beautiful," Roulan was almost drooling at the sight of the numerous herbs, as an alchemist, this was a dream come true.
" What is this place?" Baixue asked, her eyes filled with wonder.
Kieran started walking towards the tree where he could see Sindra flying around a small opening on the giant tree.
"Master, it is an emerald heart." Sindra pointed into the hole where an oval, fist-sized emerald stone was emitting a soft glow. "Absorbing it could help with your evolution."
The oval stone trembled slightly as if understanding their intentions before flying out of the tree and heading straight for Roulan. Kieran slightly panicked but breathed a sigh of relief when the stone gently landed on her palm.
"Husband, this is what was calling to me," Roulan spoke while examining the stone. She could feel a very strong connection to it.
"Looks like you can't have this one master." Sindra's voice was reluctant, but she knew Kieran would never snatch something from his wife.
"What is it?" Baixue asked while poking the stone.
Roulan stared at the stone as if lost in a trance before biting her thumb and allowing a drop of her blood to fall on the stone.
The stone began to glow brightly, almost blinding the three of them. A tiny humanoid figure appeared on Roulan's palm as the light faded. Unlike Sindra, who was only visible to Kieran, all three of them could see the small figure.
She was slightly smaller than Sindra and looked more like an elf than a fairy, She had green hair and eyes, slightly elongated ears, and a beautiful green dress that resembled Roulan's. She gently touched Roulan's finger, which instantly healed, before tilting her head to shyly look up at them.
"Master," She spoke, bowing to Roulan, her voice gentle and melodious, a far cry from Sindra's sultry voice.
"Who are you,...what are you?" The shocked Roulan eventually asked.
"I have no name, master. I am a newborn spirit." Her voice was now shy, almost inaudible. "Could master give me a name?" Her eyes on Roulan were filled with expectation and hope.
Roulan looked at Kieran, who only nodded encouragingly, pleased with the possibility of his wife also having a guardian spirit. She turned her attention back to the tiny figure standing on her palm with a smile. "I will call you Eir."
Eir smiled sweetly, clearly loving her new name. She then floated into the air, stopping before Kieran's face.
"I can help you find things with abundant spiritual energy," She spoke, but her gaze was on Sindra, who was now sitting on top of Kieran's head.
(Baixue and Roulan, who can't see Sindra, believe that Eir is talking to Kieran.)
