Chapter 15 - Chapter 15: How can he be compared with Gerald Wayne.

James Logan smiled.

"We're just letting him go out and have some fun."

Linda Logan didn't believe it.

"f you don't tell me, I'll call and have him come back." she said firmly.

"Okay, okay. Can't I just tell you? Yvonne invited her classmates to have a meal today. Charles Wellington is an outsider. It's not appropriate for him to attend a family dinner" James finally revealed his true intentions.

"Outsider? Really? Charles is the future son-in-law of our Logan family. How can he be considered an outsider?" Linda angrily retorted.

James Logan shook his head.

"Do you really want our daughter to marry this wild boy? Aren't you ashamed?"

"What do you mean? Didn't you say they would get married after they got to know each other?" Linda was immediately displeased.

But James didn't answer. Instead he turned around and answered a phone call in the living room, while asking Linda went into the kitchen to prepare a nice meal for the guests coming.

....

A few hours later, several cars stopped outside the Logan family's gate.

"Yvonne, hurry up, your classmates are here" James Logan urged.

Yvonne Logan immediately hurried out to greet them.

"Gwen, Sara, Gerald, you're all here." She said happily to her friends.

"Come in, please."

The Shen family was full of smiles, welcoming the guests into the house.

"You guys talk first. The food will be ready soon."

After entering the house, Linda Logan greeted the guests and ushered them to sit in the dining room.

Yvonne Logan and her father also sat down with them.

"You guys haven't seen each other for a long time, right?" James Logan said breaking the silence.

"Yes sir, as as classmates, we should keep in touch more often. It's a good culture to at least try and check on your fellow classmates and friends" Gerald said.

"You're right. It is indeed the right thing to do. I regret now that I didn't keep in touch with my classmates more back then, so now I don't have many friends to confide in" James said with a smile at the dinner table.

Gerald nodded.

"Yes, I agree. There are two most precious types of friendships in this world: comradeship and classmates' "Just like me and Yvonne, even though we haven't seen each other for many years, we still feel very close when we meet again"

"Did you hear that, Yvonne? Uncle James wants you to spend more time with Gerald" Gwen chimed in with a laugh.

At the dinner table, everyone was chatting and laughing, except for Sara Owen, who was a bit quiet. When she lowered her head to drink her juice, she looked around as if searching for someone. This person was naturally Charles Wellington. She remembered that Yvonne had said he also lived in the Logan's house when they were at the bar, but why wasn't he here today? Did he leave? But she hadn't returned his coat yet.

Just as Sara was still looking around, the doorbell suddenly rang.

"I'll go get it" she said, getting up to answer the door.

But James Logan stopped her.

"You guys go ahead and eat. I'll go see who it is."

He left the table and looked at the monitor at the door, and seeing that it was Charles Wellington who had come back, he frowned his face.

"Why did this kid come back so early?" James frowned and hesitated to open the door.

Soon, Charles seeing that no one was answering him, quickly brought out his phone and called Mrs Logan to ask if there was anyone home, as he had been ringing the doorbell but no one answered.

Linda was about to answer when her husband ran into the kitchen and gestured for her to say that no one was home.

Although Linda didn't want to deceive Charles, she still said so under the repeated requests of her husband.

"Oh, okay, Auntie Linda. Then you guys go ahead and do your thing. I'll go out for a walk and come back tonight."

Charles, standing at the entrance of the villa, replied to Auntie Linda on the phone.

However, as soon as he hung up the phone, the door of the villa was opened from the inside.

It turned out that when James Logan went to the kitchen, Sara Owen went to check the doorbell, which had been ringing.

"It's you?"

Sara was clearly surprised when she saw the familiar face outside the door.

Chu Lin was also stunned.

"It's you, the little beauty with the mole on her chest?"

Sara Owen blushed at once.

At this moment, James Logan and his wife noticed Charles Wellington, who had already entered the villa, and felt so embarrassed.

Especially Linda, who felt ashamed and immediately came over to explain.

"Charles, that... just now..."

"It's okay, Auntie Linda. You guys eat your food, don't worry about me." Charles said as he was not someone who would seek trouble.

After he entered the house and saw the men and women eating at the table, he already understood a lot of things.

Obviously, the Logan family didn't want him to participate in today's lunch, so they tried their best to get rid of him.

Charles went back to his room on his own initiative.

But Linda Logan felt guilty and even glared fiercely at her husband James Logan, as if blaming him for everything.

"It's okay, he's just a distant relative staying temporarily in my house. Everyone doesn't need to worry about him. Let's eat our food. Gerald don't be angry, eat more"

Said James Logan, who continued to invite everyone to eat, afraid that Gerald Wayne would misunderstand, so he even explained Charles's identity.

At the dinner table, James Logan inquired several times about Gerald's family situation, asked about his father's job, and even repeatedly asked Yvonne to pick dishes for Gerald Wayne.

It seemed like he was trying to match the two of them together.

Soon, after they had eaten and drunk enough, Gerald and his group got up to leave.

"Gerald, you really helped us out this time" said James Logan.

"Otherwise, Yvonne and I would have had a hard time."

James expressed his gratitude again as they left.

Gerald smiled and said

"Uncle, don't mention it. Yvonne and I have known each other for years. Helping out a bit is only natural. If it weren't for the unexpected arrival of a big shot last night, this trouble would have been resolved by now. But it doesn't matter. Tonight, I have arranged to meet Mr Kenneth Reed at the Royale Hotel. I'll bring Yvonne and you along. But, Uncle, about that ten million..."

"Don't worry about it, I understand. Mr Reed needs money to handle various relationships, and I'll bring the ten million over tonight."

James Logan smiled and replied, then urged his daughter to see Gerald off.

"Yvonne, what are you waiting for? Go and see Gerald off."

...

After Gerald and his group left, Linda Logan called her husband to their bedroom.

"James, what do you mean by this today? Why did you drive away Charles Wellington and let Yvonne serve dishes to Gerald as if she's his wife?"

"Do you want to match Yvonne with Gerald Wayne and make him your son-in-law?" Linda Logan asked directly.

James Logan replied his wife back, nonchalantly.

"And so, what's wrong with that? Gerald is outstanding. Don't you like to have him as your son-in-law?"

"What about Charles Wellington? His marriage to Yvonne was arranged by the your father. Are you going to break the engagement?" Linda asked , clearly not happy.

James sneered.

"Breaking the engagement is better than pushing our daughter into the fire pit. Gerald is talented and has become a pillar of the city government at a young age. He has a bright future ahead of him. Moreover, his father is a high-ranking official in the city, and his family background is also very superior. What about that Charles Wellington? What does he have?, What can he offer?"

James Logan said coldly.

"But even at that, Charles is honest and kind-hearted"

Linda Logan tried to find speak nice things about Charles Wellington.

James laughed.

"Can honesty put food on the table?"

"Gerald Wayne can climb the relationship ladder of the Reed family and help our company through difficult times. What about Charles Wellington? Can he do that?"

"He is a wild boy from the countryside. How can he be compared with Gerald Wayne?"
