Chapter 61 - Chapter 61: Finally Reliable

Chapter 61: Finally Reliable

The reason they all told Arthur to be careful was because, in this kind of exploration and treasure hunt show, it was often unavoidable to fake things.

Just like how tide-pooling videos often involve burying and digging up your own finds.

In fact, the production team had already made preparations. The boat was stocked with many "treasures," some real and some fake, waiting for an opportunity to drop the items into the sea or bury them on the beach outside of the camera's view, and then have the streamer find and dig them up.

This kind of trick was almost an open secret. Even a newbie streamer like Justin, who had never done this before, immediately understood the implication when he saw the items prepared by the production team.

Everyone just tacitly avoided mentioning it.

However, Arthur's previous statement made it difficult for them to carry out these operations later.

No wonder the production crew was so eager to use the tablet to remind him with a string of exclamation marks.

But Arthur had his own thoughts about this.

He wasn't simply ignorant. In fact, it wasn't difficult to understand this kind of thing with a little thought, and he wasn't so lacking in emotional intelligence.

It was just that he clearly remembered that this show was scheduled to air for more than twenty days.

They couldn't possibly spend all twenty-plus days just casually cruising around the shallow sea area and picking up treasures on the beach every day, right?

Wouldn't that be treating the audience like idiots?

He didn't know much about the live streaming industry, but since he had managed to accumulate a certain number of fans without any packaging or hype when he first started out, now that he had a whole boatload of resources and a support team, he felt he could appropriately show the audience some real exploration, within his capabilities.

As for the danger, he really didn't think it was a big deal.

This willingness to explore was naturally supported by the entire live stream team.

It's just that as they watched Arthur's determined figure heading towards the deep sea area, these older members of the production crew, while relieved, also felt a surprising sense of unease.

They were relieved because they didn't have to cajole Arthur into going. He was doing it on his own, saving them a lot of trouble.

Unlike in the past, when they had to spend a lot of effort persuading those internet celebrity streamers, who were resolutely unwilling to step out of their comfort zones.

But the reason for their unease was: they were increasingly starting to suspect that the streamer they had chosen this time was perhaps too courageous?

This might be the first time in their careers that they were worried about their own safety from the very beginning of a trip…

The sailboat steadily advanced towards the deep water area, and its speed was not slow.

During this time, Arthur followed the script and showcased the various facilities and equipment on the sailboat to the camera, and by the way, promoted the diving gear from their sponsor.

One of the biggest sponsors of their show was the brand of diving suits they were currently using, called Mantine Underwater Supplies.

The logo was a simple sketch of a Mantine.

Coincidentally, not long after setting sail, they encountered the star of the logo: Mantine.

The sun was shining brightly, and the vast expanse of the sea met the horizon.

In the distance, schools of Mantine and dolphins leaped out of the water, gliding along the waves beside their boat.

It was a serene and beautiful scene.

At this moment, Arthur also introduced it to the viewers on camera.

"Look! Over there! There are many dolphins and Mantine following our boat. The former are ordinary marine animals, while the latter are dual-type Water and Flying Pokémon."

The wild in this world wasn't only populated by Pokémon. There were also some ordinary wild animals. However, large carnivorous beasts were absent, because the top of the food chain always belonged to Pokémon.

The ocean was the same. There were no large sharks or whales like great whites and blue whales here. Instead, there were Sharpedo and Wailord.

But medium and small-sized whales like dolphins still existed, and in considerable numbers.

Mantine and dolphins didn't prey on each other. Their diets didn't overlap much, so they often got along well.

They both liked to leap out of the water, and Mantine even had the ability to glide in the air for a short time.

After all, they had the Flying type.

"Mantine have a gentle temperament and are relatively low-risk Pokémon. They generally don't attack unfamiliar humans."

As he spoke, Arthur extended his hand over the side of the boat, and Froakie on his shoulder helpfully spat some bubbles towards the distance, attracting the attention of the Mantine school.

The cameraman behind him couldn't help but say, "Be careful!"

Although Mantine were known to be gentle Pokémon in various records, this was still a nature reserve. The Pokémon living here year-round had rarely seen humans, so it was hard to predict how they would react.

Arthur's actions made the team members once again marvel at how courageous this young man chosen by the sponsor was.

Fortunately, there were no surprises. Soon, the bubbles Froakie spat out attracted a Mantine with a wingspan of five or six meters. This Mantine didn't show any hostility. Instead, it happily rubbed its head against Arthur's palm by the boat's edge.

The cameraman captured this scene, and the live stream chat went wild with "wow"s.

Arthur continued his calm commentary.

"As you can see, this is an adult Mantine, and it's… relatively average in development. Its wings aren't very strong, they're rather flat, and the edges aren't sharply defined. They also feel soft to the touch. Based on this, we can judge that this Mantine most likely hasn't learned moves like Wing Attack or Air Cutter. Its head is quite hard though, so it probably knows Headbutt, and maybe Head Smash."

His explanations were consistently calm and organized, exuding confidence without resorting to shouting to attract viewers, and naturally capturing the attention of everyone watching.

The production crew behind the cameraman were initially worried that Arthur wouldn't be able to control the live stream, but they quickly realized they had been overthinking it.

This was actually the source of Arthur's confidence in being so bold and directly interacting with these wild Pokémon—because he had a deep understanding of Pokémon.

With just a brief observation, he could roughly guess the moves of this Mantine, and thus determine that even if it wasn't docile, it wouldn't pose much of a threat. That's why he dared to reach out and pet it so freely.

At this point, Froakie had even jumped onto the Mantine's back, becoming a flying fish knight, waving excitedly in the wind.

The live stream chat exploded with amazement, and many viewers couldn't wait to ask:

"Is the streamer a Pokémon appraiser? Or a professional breeder?"

"This commentary is so professional, where is the streamer from?"

This finally relieved the anxiety that the production crew had been feeling, especially after Arthur's suggestion to change course.

It seemed that the sponsor's choice of this streamer was surprisingly reliable…
