Weiss was relieved. At the beginning of this exercise, when she took over as the leader of the Defense team, she had thought she had this in the bag. She was either friends with or acquainted with half the team, and because of her status as one of the class presidents, she assumed everyone would listen to her. She wasn't wrong; she just miscalculated a little bit. She kind of forgot about her closest friends' bad habits. She knew that when he activated his quirk, his personality could change depending on the animals' behaviors. She was aware that a dog could make him rather instinctual and overly eager. So, she probably didn't blame Kiba for what happened. She had worked with him many times and had a great relationship with him. She should've known better. It's not like Kiba is completely blameless, but as the team leader and his closest friend, she should have factored in his detrimental qualities.
Weiss watched as her teammates were examined by Recovery Girl. Most of them were bruised and battered, with Choji taking the worst of it. The rest of them were just exhausted, even Leonidas; his last attack really took a lot out of him. As Weiss sat there with all her insecurities buzzing around in her head, Kiba approached with a sheepish expression.
"Hey... um... Weiss, I really need to talk to you."
Weiss looked up at the person she would say is probably her best friend and, in private, maybe more, with an ashamed expression.
"No, I need to tell you something. I'm sorry for letting you down. As a leader, it's my responsibility for not factoring in your quirks... quirks, for lack of a better word. I will take responsibility for your mistakes."
Weiss had sad but determined eyes as she shared her thoughts with Kiba.
"No, I can't let you take the blame! It was my mistake. You gave everyone directions, and I didn't follow through with them. You taking the blame for my mistake... it's... it's unacceptable!"
Kiba's frustrated and exasperated expression upset Weiss. She was the leader; he was her responsibility! She felt she had failed him and the whole team. If the Midoriya system hadn't manifested a new personality, their entire team would have lost the exercise. But before she could explain this to her best friend, he shot her an angry look and said,
"I get it! You're the leader; you're responsible for everyone around you! But I cannot let my mistakes be my own when I'm around you! When we interned at the Snow Wolf Hero agency, every time I screwed up, you took the blame! It's not fair to you, and it's not fair to me! Would you just let me make my mistakes and face the consequences for them? I love you too much to see you make that face! Every time someone screws up, you take responsibility, and then you're depressed for a whole week. It hurts me every time. Can you just be responsible for you and only you for once?"
Weiss was stunned. She hadn't realized she was hurting him all this time; was she really that selfish? Understanding her thoughts just by looking at her face, Kiba grabbed her head and made her look straight into his eyes.
"You're not selfish! No, I'm not reading your mind; you know what my quirk is. Yes, despite your usual cold expression, I can tell everything you're thinking based on your facial expressions. Yes, we are that close as friends."
The two of them continued their back-and-forth for quite a while. Weiss tried to take full responsibility, while Kiba insisted that it was his fault and his alone. This exchange went on until they heard someone shout at them from the med tent.
"Would the two of you just shut up and kiss already? Gosh, you're giving us a headache!"
It was Mordred, who was currently in charge of the body because they were recovering. Eating and sleeping were two things Mordred did best. She was kind of like a house cat.
The two of them sat in silence for about two minutes, both blushing. Each time they noticed the other's embarrassment, the cycle of flushing grew, creating a charming yet awkward standoff. Finally, they reached an agreement.
"How about we both take the blame for what happened?" Weiss suggested. She noticed Kiba's unhappy expression and quickly added, "I know, no matter how much I try to convince you it's my fault alone, you'll never accept it. This is the best compromise I can offer."
They exchanged smiles, and Kiba turned his back toward the medical tent to observe his teammates. However, Weiss had other plans. Before Kiba could react, she placed a quick kiss on his cheek and dashed off toward the medical tent. Kiba stood frozen for ten minutes, processing what had just happened.
Time passed after the training exercise. The two hero course classes that the Midoriya system knew well graduated and became heroes. Nezu began teaching the Midoriya system more about hero work, recognizing that, thanks to his tutoring, Izuku and the rest of the system were ahead of most students their age.
Nezu understood that placing them in the hero course with peers of the same age would be unfair—not only to the other students but also to the Midoriya system. It would mean giving them three years of inactivity while waiting for the rest of their classmates to catch up. This situation wasn't fair to Class 1A or 1B, and it also wouldn't be fair to the person the system would replace.
So, Nezu decided to tutor the system in the hero course curriculum immediately.
Nezu believed that this approach would allow each personality more time to develop their quirks and abilities, helping their proficiency and control to increase. And that's exactly what happened. Izuku spent five years dedicated to hero course training.
"Just a reminder for everyone: Izuku was 9 at the start of this chapter, so five years means he is now 14 years old. Everyone understand we're at the beginning of canon? Good."
Oh, and just as a side note—Kiba and Weiss got married last year. It was a lovely wedding, with the entire defense team in attendance. Choji handled the catering; he transitioned from being a full-time hero to running a barbecue restaurant.
In fact, the entire defense team established their own hero agency, aptly named "Part-Time Agency," since most of them operated as part-time heroes. As previously mentioned, Choji runs a restaurant.
Weiss is set to inherit her family business from her father.
Kiba operates an animal rescue center.
Ino is pursuing a college degree to become a practicing psychologist.
Ruby has become a support item manufacturer and designer for the entire group.
Yang is a professional racer, excelling in cars, motorcycles, boats—you name it, she's probably raced it!
Hinata and Choji got married, and Hinata chose to become a stay-at-home mom. They say the fastest way to a man's heart is through his stomach—well, the same could be said for Hinata.
Shikamaru, Shino, and Blake primarily served as underground heroes while running the agency, as the others worked part-time. Being the smartest, Shikamaru was tasked with handling most of the paperwork.
In fact, the entire Midoriya system decided that after graduating from UA High, they would join the Part-Time Agency. This choice was influenced by the presence of their friends and the fact that the entire system had been shaped by mostly adults and high schoolers throughout their lives. As a result, they often exhibited a level of maturity that made them seem like little adults at times.
== Authors note
Hi, I hope you like this chapter. I decided I would make The defense team, this Izuku's class 1A. Izuku And his alters will still interact with class 1A, He just won't be a part of them. With the five-year time skip the Alters abilities would put them on her with most pro heroes at this point. So would be really unfair to put them in a class full of newbies. Because even normal Izuku would crush Katsuki Bakugo. He wouldn't be able to beat Shoto Todoroki. He could give him a good fight with all his gadgets, But every altar would destroy Todoroki. Anyway, I hope you enjoy this chapter. See you later.
