Synopsis
Due to the negligence of medical staff, my fiancée and my premarital medical examination reports were swapped. Her HIV positive report became mine. My healthy medical examination report became hers. Before I could tell my fiancée the true results, she brought her whole family over to break off the engagement and verbally insulted me. She even threatened to take my betrothal gifts and the house, demanding compensation for her mental anguish over the years. My previously amiable future father-in-law looked at me with disgust. "Rotten cucumber, if it weren't for the premarital checkup, my daughter would have been ruined by you for life!" "If you don't compensate our family's losses over the years, we'll see you in court!" Watching this family's ugly behavior, I smirked and silently deleted the HIV positive report from my phone.

Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

"Honey, you have to promise me, after we get married, the house in the city center should be in my name, and your salary should all be handed over to me for safekeeping. The bride price you paid for marrying me must also be deposited with my parents to be used in case of emergencies."

I held my fiancée in my arms and couldn't help but frown upon hearing so many of her demands.

I don't know if it's just my illusion, but ever since I got engaged to Wang Jingyao, she seems to have become more and more materialistic. Clearly she doesn't work, and the ten thousand yuan I give her as pocket money every month even seems to be too little for her.

Not to mention the pocket money, just talking about the bride price, I also gave eight hundred and eighty thousand. Logically, the bride price should be the joint property of us as a couple, and the house in the city center was entirely paid for by me. Taking a step back, it should have both our names on it.

It's not just Wang Jingyao, I also take care of the expenses for the Wang family's three members, making me feel the pressure of supporting five people on my own.

But considering we're about to get married soon, and we'll be one family, there's nothing much to fuss about.

Just as I was about to nod and agree, a call came in.

"Hello?"

"Hello, is this Mr. Qi?"

"This is Qi Chen, are you the doctor in charge of my health check-up?"

"Yes, the test results here show you have contracted the HIV-1 virus. We recommend you get admitted for treatment as soon as possible."

HIV?

Isn't that AIDS?

I was taken aback by this result and, once I processed it, I wanted to lash out at this unscrupulous doctor.

I know my circumstances. Before meeting my fiancée Wang Jingyao, I had never even had a girlfriend, not even held a girl's hand. My lifestyle is regular and my social circle is clean, so how could I possibly contract AIDS?

"Wait, could it be that your hospital made a mistake? I... Hello? Hello?"

Before I could finish, the call had already ended.

I was left speechless.

"Honey, what's going on?"

Wang Jingyao looked at my pale face and couldn't help but approach with concern, holding my cheeks, eyes filled with worry.

"The doctor who handled our pre-marital check-up just called, saying the results are out."

"What is it? Are the results bad?"

Wang Jingyao's face changed instantly, and for a moment, I felt the woman before me seemed a bit unfamiliar.

"Yeah, my health seems to have some issues, but as you know, I have a regular lifestyle, it's not possible to have any health problems. Let's go for another check-up tomorrow."

To avoid worrying my fiancée, I didn't tell her the real situation, intending to let her know once the truth is out.

I'm sure I don't have AIDS. Worst-case scenario, if I did, I would break off the engagement with Wang Jingyao, as I wouldn't want to ruin her bright future or spread the virus to harm others.

Thinking of this, I immediately informed my parents of the results, and they agreed to accompany Wang Jingyao and me to the hospital for a recheck the next day.

The next day, we arrived at the hospital, but Wang Jingyao didn't show up. To quickly confirm my health status, I didn't waste time waiting for her and went ahead with the recheck with my parents.

After the secondary test results came out, the doctor kept bowing and apologizing to us.

"We're very sorry, we mixed up the test reports. It wasn't Mr. Qi who has AIDS, but Miss Wang who came with you for the check-up."

Boom!

Like a bolt from the blue, I blacked out, my legs wobbled, and I almost fell to the ground.

It wasn't me who contracted AIDS, it was my fiancée, Wang Jingyao!

I opened my phone and realized that Wang Jingyao hadn't replied to my messages since early in the morning.
