Chapter 17 - Chapter 21 I'm Here to Save You

These most lovable people, whenever the people need them the most, they are always at the front line.

Although she and he were neither relatives nor close acquaintances, seeing him in this state, An Ran felt an urge to cry.

He must have saved many victims of the disaster, she often heard on the radio that those rescuers were fighting tirelessly on the front line of flood relief, and just yesterday, the radio said someone had sacrificed their life to save others.

Luckily, she saw him. If no one had found him, would he have also been sacrificed?

Watching the man's eyelashes move slightly on the rock, An Ran comforted him: "I'm here to rescue you, now I'll tie the rope on you."

As she spoke, An Ran tied the rope she was holding around the man's waist.

"Go back," finally, Mu Xingfeng found his voice and spoke these two words with difficulty again.

"Ah?" An Ran, who was tying the rope, was startled to hear the man's voice; she thought he was unconscious, but unexpectedly, he was still awake.

"Go back," Mu Xingfeng's hoarse voice still repeated those two words.

An Ran understood clearly what Mu Xingfeng was worried about.

"Don't worry, I brought a rope. Even if I can't save you now, I won't let you be swept away."

An Ran had already prepared for the worst when she entered the water, so she was somewhat confident.

Mu Xingfeng wanted to say more but couldn't utter a single sound.

After tying the rope securely on Mu Xingfeng, An Ran struggled to get him down. Although Mu Xingfeng was tall and strong, in the water, his weight was somewhat reduced.

Even so, it took An Ran half an hour to cover the less than 50-meter distance from the rock to the shore, and after finally pulling Mu Xingfeng ashore with great effort, An Ran was so exhausted that she lay beside Mu Xingfeng, panting heavily.

Mu Xingfeng had maintained his consciousness all along, he knew clearly how much effort this girl had exerted to bring him ashore.

Looking at the tender, pretty little face less than half a meter from himself, Mu Xingfeng's tense nerves finally snapped, and he completely passed out.

An Ran rested for a while, looked at the sky, and shook her head helplessly.

The weather was bad, with all the struggling, the sky had already darkened, and what was worse, she hadn't encountered a single person passing by during all this time in the water.

The shore was damp and uncomfortable, seeing Mu Xingfeng's legs still soaking in the water, An Ran got up again and painstakingly pulled Mu Xingfeng's tall body further away from the water.

An Ran spread her raincoat on the ground and placed Mu Xingfeng on it, knowing he had injuries on his back, she still let him lie down on the ground and finally clearly saw the horrific wound on his back.

The wound was nearly a foot long, due to long-term immersion in the water, the wound had turned white and gaped open, looking appalling.

Although An Ran was a medical student, she hadn't learned this much yet, and all she thought was that it should be wrapped up first, but where could she get such large strips of cloth?

Having often seen rescue scenes on TV where they tore clothes for bandages, An Ran rummaged through her backpack, looking at her vest and shorts, and sighed silently.

After thinking for a while, she took off his wet clothes and pulled out her only shirt from the backpack to cover him.

Looking around at this desolate wilderness, and then at the unconscious man, she only hoped that rescuers could come quickly.

After thinking again, she hung her white T-shirt on a tree branch, hoping it would be more noticeable.
