Jayden, who was only focusing on eating, couldn't help but notice that Almond stopped speaking; she didn't really grasp all that he said, as she was already carried away by the thought of how to escape or probably evade the marriage. She knew within herself that despite having promised Ann to cooperate, she isn't really that determined to face another love journey or any relationship that involves the roller coaster of emotion.
Even though she didn't really get all Almond has said, she knew he had only introduced himself, and she's expected to do the same for them to have a better understanding of each other's backgrounds. She grabbed the serviette to wipe the nonexistent dirt on her lips and readjusted her dress while trying to sit properly for what she'll like to call "Battle of Words", as she didn't think it was an introduction but a way for her to give the man a bad impression and get him to cut off the marriage.
I'm Jayden Cole, she started, a 28-year-old lovely lady, the first daughter of the great Mr Cole of Cee Industries, and also the founder of Jay Decor. I have a business partner who's also a friend that we both share in the great vision of the company. Jay Decor is a place where we engage in designing home interiors and make indoor spaces functional, safe, and beautiful by determining space requirements and selecting essential and decorative items, such as colours, lighting, and materials.
Graduated with a first-class degree in Design BA (Hons), my love for designing helps a lot in achieving this dream goal. I have always loved to design right from childhood, although my parents weren't that enthusiastic about it, as they believe there are a lot of what they call "better offers" for me to explore, which includes earning a degree in business administration just to help Dad a bit in alleviating his worries while also gaining experience on the side.
They tried their possible best to convince me, but how I believe in myself that I can make that dream of mine work made them relent a little bit, and guess what? today? At this point, Jayden didn't realise how much she has changed and become relaxed chatting about the only thing that gives her joy, which is her work, and how she achieved all that she has today despite the obstacles and challenges she faced along the way.
She readjusted herself and sipped her juice, then resumed talking; it all worked out in the end, and that's when I realised that indeed consistency pays, but for it to do so, you must have put a crazy amount of work in. To date, my parents haven't really approved of the job, but seeing the amazing results their daughter is bringing in, they're slowly letting go of their prejudice, but they've decided to be the ones with the final say in the matter of my relationship, which is why I'm sitting here today.
My great loving father arranged this! Jayden smiled and said sarcastically. You know, I wouldn't have believed in my wildest dreams that my father could probably do such a thing. I mean, who still arranges marriages nowadays? But now that the deal is done and we've seen each other in reality. I'll say this, Mr Almond Jones, although I might not have known you all this while, the little I have seen today has greatly changed my mindset towards you, but it doesn't still mean I'm accepting this marriage. No, I'm not; I'm only trying to appreciate the kind of man your grandfather raised. He did an amazing job, but I won't say yes to this marriage. You are not the one made for me; I hope you understand.
Let's find something to prevent this, and I'll take it that I owe you one. Whenever you need any help of mine, I'll readily agree to it. I hope you'll consider my offer and not jump to conclusions. Thank you. Having said all this, Jayden finally heaved a sigh of relief after all; she already made use of the "soft made it approach" instead of going head to head and not making any positive change.
