Chapter 35 - Last Night, Confession

After not finding even a trace of Luminis Nightveil Fairy, John and Yuna returned to their camp with just ten minutes left until 6:00 a.m.

"It looks like there's no Luminis Nightveil Fairy here at all," John said with a dry chuckle.

"Yeah…bad luck," Yuna sighed before she looked around and saw that Max had yet to wake up. Snorting, she issued a command.

"Doku, go knock on his door loudly."

"Reeh!"

John took out some meat and other ingredients. "Let's start cooking. I'm hungry and sleepy both."

"Yeah."

Meanwhile, Alfred and Pymon rested nearby alongside Rayray.

Alfred hadn't slept for two days, so he fell asleep immediately.

Waking up seven hours later in the afternoon, John and Yuna freshened up fast, and Max had also returned from training and exploration.

John and Yuna had just freshened up and timely saw Max's Blazeborn Stalker successfully emerge from the cocoon as a Gloomblaze Wanderer, an elite Silver-rank Monster of Ghost/Fire/Darkness attributes, with the potential to reach Emperor-rank!

After eating, the trio went out to get their third Pet Monster. They had only had one more night, as the event was going to be concluded tomorrow.

Max and Yuna both needed to capture their third monster, and even if it was temporary, it had to be good.

Meanwhile, John just wanted to randomly capture a Monster and then release it later because he had already decided on his third Monster.

'Draconite Bloodlight Worm…what a fortune.' John couldn't wait to train this new monster and evolve it later because it could become a frigging Dragon! He wanted to see what kind of Dragon would evolve from that worm!

'As for the plan…'

A cunning glint also passed through his eyes as he thought of the plan he had made to deal with the scrutiny and danger of the ruling sects.

His new life had been boring so far because he had a singular goal of improving and getting ready to dive into the world of tamers when the time came.

He acquired the Rune of New Beginning ten days ago, and he had officially stepped into this world of tamers. The past nine days were so much fun for him. Still, he couldn't help but get uber-excited for the future.

[Hell yeah! John Wicked has arrived to rule over your heads, motherfuckers!

'…'

[Anyway, Brother John, I am here to give you a quick update that the Monster Paradise dimension is fully perfected now, and I'll be able to talk freely with you there, hehe. See you soon.]

'Nice.'

Time passed, and night descended as soon as the clock hit 8:00 p.m.

Yuna captured a Giltur Butterfly (Light attribute) as her third pet Monster, and Max captured a rather rare Whispermund Crow (Sound/Wood attributes) to get one flying Monster in his arsenal.

On the other hand, John captured Barkhide Beetle (Wood/Metal). It was more of a defense-type Monster and also fairly rare, like Whispermund Crow. He planned to later release it in his Monster Paradise.

The group returned to the camp, cooked food, and ate.

Max fell asleep while Yuna and John went out again.

John's stock of Xhal Drops also reached 5638. Although tempted to buy things, he held himself back.

'The event is going to be over soon. Calm.'

Three hours later, Yuna and John had hunted many Monsters, especially Silver-rank ones.

Alfred finally reached Prime-stage first after absorbing many soul crystals, and Yuna's Rayray also eventually reached Prime-stage.

Alfred gained his fifth skill—Vorpal Howl, able to increase Attack, Defense, and Speed by 20% while reducing the same percentage of stats of the Monsters facing his howl.

It was an utterly powerful skill. On top of that, Alfred also awakened another Quirk—Darkness Mastery level 1.

[Pet Name]: Netherlord Glassblaze Lupine

- Alfred.

[Pet Rank]: Silver

[Pet Growth Stage]: Prime

— Gene Potential: 56/100

— Strength: 93

— Speed: 87

— Defense: 92

— Soul Crystal: 269/500

[Skills]:

—> Umbral Drift + Frostfire Scythes.

—> Obsidian Tundral Fangs.

—> Shader Blaze Beam.

—> Shattering Tail Smash + Rolling Back Rain.

—> Vorpal Howl.

[Quirk]:

—> Blood Mastery level 1.

—> Darkness Mastery level 1.

"Your Alfred is really talented," Yuna speechlessly said. "To awaken a second Quirk so quickly…"

"Yep," John smiled as he ruffled Alfred's head. The wolf had grown massive after reaching the Prime-stage.

He stood three meters tall with an imposing frame and aura. John looked like a kid in comparison despite his height of 6'1 feet. He was the tallest in his class due to hitting puberty earlier than others.

"John, you will also likely get an offer from Ouroboros Hall. If you get them, you should choose them. That way, you'll directly go to the Heavenrend Region because Ouroboros Sects don't have branches in the other four regions."

Yuna's hands balled up as she spoke, her heart beginning to beat faster. "And…I will be there soon."

"Pymon found some Silver-rank Monsters. Let's go."

"…"

After they extracted their soul crystals and split them between the two for Alfred and Rayray to absorb, Yuna suggested they rest.

As they sat under a tree and rested for five minutes, Yuna turned to John and said, "John, I want to say something to you."

"Yeah?" John turned to her and blinked. However, he saw her eyes, expression, and body language, making him blink again. 'Uh-oh…'

"I like you!" Yuna sputtered, eyes firm. "I… You know there's no one as hardworking as you. I've been seeing you for sure. Alone, silent, and always doing something, if not training yourself."

"It's like you have a goal. You have a powerful drive. And in the days we were here, I knew…that if I wanted to be with someone forever, that's you."

'That's heavy…' John internally sighed.

"I will reach you in the Heavenrend Region soon, so will you…wait for me and marry me?" Yuna bit her lip, her cheeks as red as a tomato.

John could feel Yuna's heart racing explosively. Her nervousness and the hint of fear in her eyes. The fear of rejection.

Taking a deep breath, John was about to say something, but Yuna suddenly put her hand on his mouth.

Her smile looked like she was stopping herself from tearing up as she said, "Actually, you don't need to answer right now. I will come to the Heavenrend Region as someone who can be worthy of you."

"I want you to answer at that time."

John smiled, a bit wryly, and nodded. "Alright."

Although he wanted to say no, he didn't mind delaying it. Yuna would work harder than ever now, and who knows? She might meet someone and fall in love.

John never knew love from humans, nor did he love any humans in his past life because of his experience, so he was really not aware of how powerful it could be. Perhaps, he would find out in the future.
