War World
The capital city of war world was in chaos as every alien was running around trying to find shelter from the fiery debris raining down on them from all directions.
Their leader's palace blew up rocking the entire city's foundation and leaving a huge crater in place where the once mighty landmark was gracing war world. Bets were being cashed out while those who lost started stealing and vandalising shops amidst the chaos. Those on vacation/travellers wary of their security were already breaching the airspace getting off the planet but some were caught up in the flying fiery debris.
Mongul was in his secondary palace high up the control tower overlooking the capital city where sky scrapers had huge holes and entire buildings destroyed. The palace was contained inside a force field which produced a hissing sound every time debris collided with it.
He was watching the recorded security feed from the palace where he had set up a trap for whoever the justice league had sent. He watched how a man and a woman moved in stealth throughout his palace before reaching the designated prison area. Assaulting the cells force field with heat vision was what confirmed his theory on him being a Kryptonian and that made him smile. His plan coming to fruition.
The explosion was supposed to weaken him enough for his soldiers to apprehend and tag him with the same chips he used on the other gladiators. The woman would be tagged too in case she survived having displayed extra ordinary powers as the Kryptonian.
The video showed the explosion engulfing them then the live feed ended.
"They are searching all over the city for their bodies in case they were blown away." The alien handling all the controls informed his master in his language which was translated by the translator. "All our people in the palace at the time are dead."
"Good. They served their purpose." He nodded satisfied. Had the intruders found the palace empty they would have been suspicious and his plan put at risk.
"The warzoons?" he asked looking out to the city where chaos was still ensuing, a minor flaw in his plan which would be dealt with after him. His gaze shifted to the direction of the coliseum where the spectators were still cheering not bothered in the least by whatever happened beyond there
"Master!!!" the alien called out urgently his screen playing a live feed from the coliseum.
Mongul walked over to him and watched the screen to see what he already knew was going to happen. That's why he had summoned the warzoons. Hulk had defeated everyone and was trying to break down the reinforced door.
"Master!?" The alien whispered not knowing what to do or what it's Master wanted.
Mongul just looked on a smirk on his face. Almost but not yet. He thought. He had personally designed those reinforced doors and knew by the time he broke out the warzoons would have arrived so his surprise in the next moment was genuine.
"Master!!!" the alien shot up from his seat startled that it broke down the door.
"What's the ETA on the warzoons?" he asked him as the hulk was now loose in the coliseum tunnels.
"In the next thirty minutes, Master." He took his seat again flipping through the tunnels surveillance feeds but hulk was running too fast for him to pinpoint his location.
"What of the Kryptonian?"
"They are still searching. The search zone is quite large." He reported. The palace was also the largest Mongul owned so the debris was also scattered everywhere.
"I will deal with him." He pointed to the coliseum. "When the warzoons show up they should search for the Kryptonian and some of them deal with this." He gestured to the city which had visible clouds of smoke in some parts.
He had wanted to preserve his strength for the Kryptonian if he were still alive as he knew how powerful they were but the hulk forced his hands. Time to kill this thing once and for all.
Elsewhere
All the corridors looked the same to him as he smashed through the doors and walls looking for a way out. The group of guards he came across were knocked to the side by his might while others died on the spot as his powerful steps trampled them on the ground. He didn't have time for them so he just kept ploughing through.
After running for a while he came across corpses he had trampled splayed out on the floor and knew he had started running in circles. He stopped, huffed and punched the wall shaking it. An idea he utilised from earlier came to mind. He glanced up, jumped and punched the roof. It didn't barge. It was reinforced.
He jumped again and applied more force to his punch. It shook and the pillars at the end of the tunnel also shook absorbing the force. Squatting while preparing to put his all in this punch, the hulk heard Banners subconscious whisper something to him. He straightened himself eyeing the pillar at the corner.
Why not? He huffed and took off in a sprint, his shoulder colliding with the pillar and everything shook from the floor to all the upper levels of the coliseum. It resisted his attack, so he stepped back looking at the cracks that formed on it. Everything on war world seemed to be 100% more sturdy than anything on earth especially reinforced structures.
He stepped back, retreating while massaging and stretching his shoulder eyeing the pillar.
At the control room the alien was panicking and speaking into the communication system for the guards to stop Hulk at all costs as he had a live view on what he was attempting and it would be disastrous more than Monguls palace. "You stupid alien!!! You'll ruin everything." He could only curse at the screen.
"Puny wall." Hulk declared. Nothing will stop him from getting to his friends. He charged again this time fist first which dismantled a quarter of the pillar while his body collided with the rest, more pronounced cracks appearing from the hole. He stepped back again flexing his hand and shoulders.
Looking at the hole he saw thick steel bars inside and some other things he did not know. So that's why it was resisting.
Up in the coliseum everyone was scrambling to use the exits leading to a stampede where aliens were dying by the thousands. They had been waiting for instructions from their master regarding the hulks escape when the coliseum shook. It was ignored thinking it was a result of whatever was happening outside. The next tremble had them scrambling as the very pillars started forming huge deep cracks, the weight of the panicked crowd adding to the stress. The remaining alive gladiators running into the tunnel to get out. They knew it was the hulks doing.
Hulk kicked the pillar in frustration and started retreating ready to give it another go. He flexed his fist eyeing the remaining part of the pillar and charged. The floor above came tumbling down on him before he reached the pillar burying him under tonnes of rubble as the whole coliseum collapsed and anguished screams and wails filled the dust covered air.
Elsewhere
"That was close." He sat down while Diana hovered above looking towards the explosion and at the fiery debris raining down on the city. "He knows we are here."
"I got the feeling. That infiltration was too easy." She stated. Her mother's royal palace had better security than Monguls palace. "He sacrificed all those lives just to lure us into a trap." She hovered higher into the air.
"Which would have worked had it not been for you. Thank you." He stood up and stretched his muscles. It had been so long since he felt anything like that before. Immediately after activating his x-ray vision and seeing the trap, he whisked Diana away pushing his muscles to the limit outrunning the blast. I didn't know Kryptonians could experience adrenaline rush.
"No need to thank me yet, we still have a mission to complete. This changes nothing. It just means we've stopped sneaking around." From her high point of view she could see the chaos ensuing in the capital city quickly spreading to other cities and soon the whole planet.
Clark hovered beside her his telescopic vision seeing far and wide. "I know. His soldiers are looking for us in the rubble and around the city."
"We need to find them before he transfers them off world or worse kills them all." Her lasso of truth appeared on her hand and she tied it to her waist.
"I think he has bigger problems to deal with right now other than us." She turned to him and saw he focused on a certain part of the city clearly seeing something she wasn't able to.
"What? We need to search all his palaces. Now that we don't have to sneak around it will be much easier." She declared finally able to release her pent up anger.
"That will take too much time." He took in a deep breath and his eyes wondered over the entire city while his ears filtered out the unnecessary sounds. "If she is here I will find her."
"How?"
He was quiet zeroing in on her heartbeat.
"I know where they are." He pointed to East but she couldn't see any palace that side. "Let's go." He took off, Diana hot on his trail both manoeuvring the shower of debris.
Elsewhere
Groans and screams could be heard from all directions as countless aliens were caught up in the collapse of the once great monument, The Coliseum.
The debris was covered in all sorts of body fluids that were all of different colours while body parts littered all over. No one was coming to help them. Those that managed to get out were hastily leaving the area seeking to get out of war world once they saw how the capital city was in disarray and nearly losing their lives.
The debris started shaking and a green fist punched through it while moving a huge slab that was on top of it to the side. The hulks head appeared, green blood dried up on his body while covered in dust from having to dig his way up and out. It was easier and faster than punching through multiple reinforced floors.
He looked around. So many aliens dead while a lot of them were buried beneath the rubble screaming for help that would not be offered any time soon. He climbed out of the rubble his body already healed itself while stretching about.
"I have had enough of you." Mongul seethed standing amidst all the devastation the hulk caused to his most prized possession. You could actually see the lines of veins protruding from Monguls closed fist.
The hulk turned to the voice, recognition in his eyes. The alien who took his friends.
Upon seeing that look. "Good. You remember me. I suggest you get angry real fast because I am the last person you will ever be mad at." He strode forward not fazed by the amount of aliens he was crushing below his feet.
The hulk charged and threw a punch aimed at his head but Mongul simply caught it in a vice grip. His other hand punching Monguls chest repeatedly with no effect.
"I told you to get angry!" Mongul shouted still holding hulks punch in a vice grip before punching his face again and again. The hulk brought up his other hand to shield himself, but Monguls punch connected with his elbow, breaking it and hulk roaring in pain.
Mongul pulled him closer, his momentum colliding with his punch fracturing his nose and some of his teeth before being kicked away by the war lord.
The hulk collided with the remains of a pillar a distance away, its protruding steels impaling his back and a green blood puddle of blood forming. His nose, teeth and facial structure healed as he dislodged himself wincing then knelt down so his spine could finish healing.
Mongul smirked watching him. He wasn't holding back, not this time, not when the hulk had cost him so much and putting his plans in jeopardy. Plus he had to kill him quickly as he knew how the hulks strength increased.
The hulk on the hand stood up growling at the warlord. His strength took him by surprise as he was far stronger than the last time they fought. He flexed his healed elbow and back and strode forward for the second time.
Every injured alien within their vicinity tried scrambling away from the two titans as they watched how mere blows produced minute shock waves. They also saw how the other aliens were dying by being stepped on during the fight.
The two titans met head on exchanging blows that staggered the hulk who was gradually getting into the fight while Mongul merely shrugged his blows away. Mongul blocked his wild punch using his momentum against him, he knocked him against a pile of rubble which disintegrated from the force applied.
Monguls fighting skills completely dominated the hulk and he was paying severely for that.
Before getting his bearings on, hulk was smashed into the ground by a large boulder, each hit chipping away a piece of it till it disintegrated.
"You dare make a mockery of War world!!" he watched as hulk pulled himself to a sitting position, coughing out green blood and his chest cavity healing as it had collapsed during the assault. "I'm going to gut you into little pieces and mount your head above my throne."
In his kneeling position his eyes caught sight of something behind Mongul, high up were two figures flying away at top speed. Mongul noticed this and turned around. "Right next to theirs." He declared livid at how they had survived the explosion with minor injuries for them to keep flying especially towards his secondary palace.
"Hulk smash puny alien!" the hulk stood as his body completely healed. In no way would he let Mongul interfere with their rescue operation.
He turned to hulk. "I no longer have time for you!" twin blades materialised in his hands.
"HULK SMASH PUNY ALIEN!!!" he roared and charged in a sprint at the same time Mongul took a defensive stance.
He dodged the hulks punches stabbed him in his heart and neck slicing the latter open and green blood spraying him all over his face. The hulk staggered backwards removing the blade in his heart and his neck healing in the process.
Mongul continued his attack by punching his vital points rapidly each blow with enough force to shatter a small meteorite and all the hulk could do was take the blows, too slow and too injured to defend himself.
He collapsed on the ground. Monguls blows proving stronger than superman's when they fought at the dock and combined with his skill he was formidable.
"You are a speck of dust in my existence. Not worthy of my time. And because of yours and the Kryptonians constant defiance I will break the girls fighting spirit making sure they know it was your fault." Mongul picked up the discarded blade wiping the green blood on himself.
Mongul looked down on the dazed hulk and stomped his foot, crushing his skull and head in one swift motion and green blood pooling around the hulks limp body.
"Puny alien my foot." He sneered and just for good measure crushed his entire chest cavity making hulks body spasm a bit before going limp.
He tapped and spoke into his modified headphone. "Get a couple of warzoons to come and retrieve this beast. Put it in the statis chamber." He spoke before teleporting out.
Elsewhere
Clark released a powerful flood of heat vision that cut in half the group of warzoons overwhelming Diana and extended it to the ones bombarding him with energy weapons.
Diana surveyed around her and saw thousands of warzoons surrounding her and Clark using their numbers to their advantage by overwhelming them. They attacked without strategy and skill each one just throwing their body at them till they were literally piled up on top of them. She jumped up when she figured out they couldn't fly but there were using those with jetpacks. Clark was killing them by the hundreds and hundreds more replaced their fallen comrades.
She looked at the palace, more so the impenetrable force field surrounding the palace that seemed to absorb any kinetic energy directed at it. Clark had followed Kara's heartbeat to the palace where they collided with the invisible force field. The warzoons showed up when they were brainstorming on how to gain access as brute force would not help them.
"Argh!!" Diana screamed as a blade embedded itself in her shoulder and she fell down. The warzoons did not waste time to ambush her by kicking, punching and attempting to cut her durable skin as she fought them off with one hand.
Clark stopped killing them in hoards and super sped to her releasing his heat vision again clearing any warzoon within a 500 metres radius.
"Are you okay?" he asked watching her pull the blade out gritting her teeth and blood pooling out of the wound. "This is going to hurt." They didn't have enough time as the warzoons were already charging at them again.
"Aargh." She gritted her teeth as a thin stream of heat vision cauterised her wound. Clark picked up the blade. It wasn't an ordinary blade. He looked around and saw him. Standing up she saw him too.
"Whatever happens, promise me you'll get them and go." He instructed his eyes never leaving him as the wound on his torso finished healing. He must have been in the radius of the earlier flood of heat vision.
"We'll take him together." She declared gripping her sword and taking the blade from Clark's hand.
"Not when they are around." He pointed to the warzoons then looked at Mongul who was striding towards them one of the twin blades in his right hand. "I will get him to lower the force field." He being here meant hulk had been defeated most likely killed. Anger rose in him at that thought. "Be ready when I give you the signal." He vanished.
BOOM!!! He attacked Mongul with a punch to his face faster than he could comprehend sending him tumbling back and crashing into the throng of warzoons.
Mongul regained his footing but was punched again and again and again at a speed that was too much for his reflexes so he relied on his instinct and fighting skill. He parried an incoming blow and landed one of his own throwing Clark against the force field which absorbed his momentum and discontinued his adrenaline.
Kryptonians are truly powerful he thought as his dense durable skin felt the stings of the punches.
Clarks shook his head and looked at Mongul. His punch was definitely stronger than the hulks.
Diana on the other hand paused when he saw how that mere punch drove Clark back. He needed her help but her hands were as full as his with the warzoons.
"Subdue her!" he ordered all the warzoons around him pointing at Diana. "He's mine."
"None of you will get out of here with your freedom." Mongul declared cracking his knuckles. He charged.
"Shut up!!!" Clark charged no longer holding back when he saw how Diana was getting overwhelmed.
BOOOOOOM!!! The space between them erupted as an explosion was detonated, the resulting wave throwing both of them back and the entire area filled with smoke. All fighting ceased with Diana and the warzoons trying to figure out what happened and where both of their people were. "Huh?" Diana who was hovering above exclaimed surprised.
RROOAARR!!! Followed by the thumping of heavy footsteps broke everyone out of their stupor and the warzoons attacked Diana again shooting at her from her elevated position.
"You want anything done right you have to do it yourself!" Mongul was pissed at his underling's failure as he saw the hulk charging at him. He took a defensive stance ready to take down this mindless beast for good.
The hulk slammed into him head first his speed not leaving room for Mongul to shield himself or block his attack.
Air was knocked out of his lungs and maybe a rib or two broke but Mongul preserved and dug his leg into the ground then using all his strength got a hold of Hulk and flipped him over. Their combined weight and force shattered the ground around them with some warzoons loosing balance and falling down.
Not wasting time, they both stood up and began punching each other none of them relenting or slowing down. The punches getting louder and louder as the shock waves increased in intensity as the punches continued.
All this time Clark was staring at the fight ahead of him leaning against the force field he had been knocked into. The hulk seemed different somehow. Diana's grunt caught his attention and he flew to her firing his heat vision in long powerful blasts.
Mongul was not holding back. The hulk had never reached this level of angry before, having regenerated and waking up when being transported in one of their ships.
Mongul did not have time to use his vast fighting skills or time his attacks as this beast's rage fuelled his speed and strength. It was an all-out brawl between them unlike earlier or when they were back on earth. He actually felt the punches the hulk was throwing and could see the hulk felt his too.
Within no time they were near the force field and Mongul slammed his back against it momentarily startling him as he wasn't aware.
The hulk grabbed a hold of his neck and with maximum effort slammed his back against the force field again making it to light up bright indicating it was absorbing the energy. Mongul punched his face and hulk slammed his back into the barrier again. Mongul gripped his arm trying to crush it so he would let him go. The hulk slammed his back again and head butted him so hard that both their foreheads split open making him let go of the warlord both shaking their heads their vision blurry.
Mongul through his blurry vision and his forehead that had stopped oozing blood saw the hulk get ready to attack him again. A blade materialised in his hand and he attacked meeting hulks right fist head on with the blade which broke on his knuckles before following up with his left fist which landed on his chest knocking the air out of his lungs again. Mongul slammed his back against the barrier again to see the hulk still charging.
He stepped aside and his fist knocked the barrier which glowed brightly again and with all his strength at that moment punched the hulks torso. 'Crack' his ribs broke while the air in his lungs was knocked out and he landed a few metres away.
That brawl was so destructive that any warzoon near them was crushed to death, neither of them aware of it.
Clark and Diana hovered high up in the air as she blocked all the energy blasts sent their way.
"They are too many." She shouted to Clark whose heat vision was laying waste to hundreds of them but more kept coming. They didn't know from where.
"I know. We need to find a way inside." He shouted back. The energy field lit up again and vibrated this time the hulk being the one slammed against it. He stopped his heat vision as his attention was drawn to their violent bloody fight. Watching the barrier light up and calm down, he had an idea. He flew in front of Diana tanking the hits on his back. "I have an idea. Follow me." He shouted pointing down much to her confusion. He shot up a few feet then sped down and started spinning mid-flight turning his body into a drill which created a man sized hole into the ground. She flew down after him into the hole trusting him and leaving the warzoons looking into the whole their body too big to fit into it.
Monguls muscles started straining as the hulk, whose eyes had started glowing green, now matched his strength with a chance to surpass him.
Their battle reached the city and sky scrapers fell at the might of their superior physiology and countless aliens died along with it.
"HULK SMASH!!!" he raged charging to Mongul whose broken hand was healing albeit at a slower rate than the Hulks. Mongul flexed his arm and charged too letting lose all his strength as he clashed with Hulks fist creating a large shockwave that blew up dust all over the city reducing visibility to zero.
He parried Hulks other fist and kicked him into a building before grabbing a nearby damaged ship and throwing it in the hole he just created, a large explosion following.
He looked back towards the palace direction and couldn't see any fighting going on and that could only mean one thing. The barrier was down.
The Hulk roared and stormed out the wall crumbling on his person as he had his eyes on Mongul.
"You're resilient, I'll give you that." He cursed noticing the beast's strength was rapidly increasing.
He jumped the moment the Hulk was near him intending for him to continue with his momentum and crash in a nearby building. What he didn't count on was his reflexes becoming sharper too.
The Hulk grabbed a hold of his foot and dragged him along then smashed him against a downed buildings wall startling Mongul. Then stopped and repeatedly smashed him to the ground just like Loki with each hit stronger than the last, the ground around them shattering to pieces.
BOOOM!!!! The Hulk was propelled forward colliding with buildings as his momentum kept him going and Mongul lay on the ground panting delirious from the pummelling he just got. The Hulks collisions came to a stop a few miles away and a distant angry roar was heard.
"The great Mongul panting like a commoner fighting in the coliseum. How the high and mighty have fallen." A new voice chuckled as his enhanced vision allowed him to see everything, even the once great coliseum itself that was now in rubbles.
Mongul sat up and looked at the speaker who dared to mock him even though he had just handed him a moment to rest and gather himself.
"You came to gloat." He seethed standing up and the Hulks roar getting closer and closer.
"I was promised a very lucrative contract of cleaning up here." He revealed the reason he teleported to war world so fast. The alien in the control room took it upon himself to seek out their second best recruiter immediately the Hulk regenerated and attacked his boss hoping he had done the right thing. His worries confirmed when the Kryptonian and the woman broke into the palace. "You didn't know about it?" he asked based on his facial expression and heart beat as he hovered above Mongul.
"Of course I knew. I am war world!" he declared thinking of his subordinate's action. It was insubordination and disrespectful but he would let it slide this one time as at the back of his mind he knew he couldn't deal with them all on his own plus the warzoons were practically useless now. I have to find a better army. He thought as the Hulk was now a few miles away.
"Good." He knew he lied but let it go. He must be desperate and for someone to have Mongul panting and desperate was a feat in itself. Only a handful of species or beings could accomplish that, himself included.
"I want him dead and you can decide on the amount you want to pay yourself if successful." He pointed up to the Hulk who had jumped and would land on them. He needed to go deal with the Kryptonian.
"Deal. If you double cross me this is mild compared to what I would do to you and this planet." He gestured all around them and paused on the figure quickly descending on them.
"You dare threaten me!" Mongul stood up clenching his fists with a death stare on his face. He was met with a defiant stare promising to deliver what he promised.
"Just get on with it, Daxamite." He growled tapping into his headphone communicating to the alien in control of the teleporting machine. He disappeared in a flash.
Boom! He shot up to the Hulk colliding with him and dragging him back up in the air, spotting a distant mountain and descending at supersonic speed with Hulk diving head first into it. The whole mountain was levelled and the whole planet experienced tremors for minutes.
Elsewhere
Clark and Diana had infiltrated the palace via an underground tunnel where the force fields couldn't reach. Clark subdued every guard in his path to rescue Kara and Cate following her heartbeat. They found them locked up in the basement a Kryptonite shard next to Kara and Cate tied up in super strong chains though she was active. They were placed in a cell with a force field barrier at the front. Clark applied the trick from earlier and they gained access to the girls.
"You came." Cate spoke up, relief evident in her voice. Her cell has been constantly trembling and that worried her not knowing what was happening outside. The amount of guards assigned to them was also worrying but her sister and Superman quickly dispatched them off.
"I'm here." Diana reassured her breaking her chain with ease and supporting her while exiting the cell and handing her over to Clark who could not go near Kara because of the Kryptonite.
Diana took the kryptonite and crushed it into her hands then punched a hole in to the wall before depositing the green ashes into it. She picked up Kara who was still unconscious and hovered out of the cell. Just then the entire underground structure trembled and the pillars developed minute cracks.
"What's going on out there?" Cate asked looking at her sister's shoulder which had healed but still had some marks.
"It's the Hulk fighting Mongul." She answered giving her a once over. "Can you fly?" she looked beaten up but was sure she had undergone worse during their training and sparring sessions.
She dislodged from Clark and hovered off the ground. She was sore all over but could manage. She was an amazon after all. "How is she?" looking at Kara.
"She's weak and needs sunlight." Clark scanned her and heard how weak her heartbeat was. "Let's get out of here." He was the first one out leading them away intending to quickly dispatch anyone threatening their exit. Cate followed him then Diana carrying Kara.
Rounding the corner he froze moving his hand gesturing for them to stop. "Whatever happens you need to get out." He turned to them who had still not rounded the corner and gave Cate an earpiece. "I have instructed Kelex to bring the ship to you." He looked at Diana who had a grim look on her face.
"None of you are walking..." before he finished talking Clark had slammed into him and through the wall, the sounds of their collisions the only thing that could be heard.
"Take her." Diana instructed handing her Kara assuming Cate's dumbfounded look. It was Mongul.
"But he said."
"I know what he said. If we have to fight our way out then..."
"Okay." She understood and took her then followed Diana close behind.
Hephaestus Lair
"Are you sure that will work?" Ares asked him for the tenth time. He had been hard at work for the past 48 hours assisting in the making of their ultimate weapon that would test and reveal that watch's weakness for them to exploit.
"I know it will." They watched it as it made contact with their targets. That was the second part of their plan. To find a controlled environment for the test. Possibly a warrior community.
"I have made sure it won't be traced back to us. I used Mount Chuom." He revealed both looking at the projection. Never in a million years would he have imagined collaborating with Hephaestus the way he was doing now. His deal with Lex Luthor forgotten because a mere mortal can't help him achieve what he set out to do.
"That's good." They watched as the first responders tried poking the annihilator thus activating it.
Themyscira
Queen Hippolyta, Thor and the four warriors arrived in Themyscira to the sound of the warning horn being blown and warriors running all over armed to the teeth.
"What's happening?" she got hold of one passing warrior who bowed as soon as she realised who was addressing her.
"My Queen." Her voice sounded relieved but her eyes widened at the sight of Thor, a man in Themyscira.
"We are under attack!"
"By who? Who dares!" Hippolyta exclaimed as an explosion was heard followed by visible smoke in the distance.
Immediately Thor span Miljonir and took off in that direction leaving the Queen and warriors behind.
"That's a man!" she shouted pointing at his disappearing figure still shocked.
"Lead the way." Hippolyta unsheathed her sword and the group took of running. Arriving at the site, she was shocked at what she saw. Thor had just been flung away into the forest and collided with a bunch of trees that broke in halves and fell.
Her warriors attacked using Arrows, spears, spiked mallets and everything they could get their hands on.
What she saw was a bulky robot, more like a battle suit marching undeterred towards her palace nothing fazed it. Its eyes glowed red every time it was attacked.
The weather changed suddenly with nimbus clouds gathering and streaks of lightning could be seen. An enormous lightning strike descended and enveloped the annihilator for some seconds before retreating leaving behind a cloud of smoke hindering visibility. Every vegetation around it was scorched never to regain their green colour again.
The amazons could see its eyes glowing bright red before it took off in a sprint towards them. They raised their shield surprised the mother of all lightning did not harm it in any way.
Miljonir struck its side dragging it back the direction it came from.
Thor landed beside the Queen. "I need you to tell your people to fall back." He extended his hand and Miljonir returned to it master. The surrounding warriors curiously studying the man their queen tolerated.
"Why?" one amazon asked. "We are prepared to defend our home with our lives!"
"No mortal weapon can stop this monstrosity." He bellowed looking in its direction. The annihilator's footsteps was heard thumping towards them felling any tree in its path passing the few amazonian dead bodies scattered about. When he joined the fight he noticed Miljonir made little impact on it thus no conventional weapon would be effective.
"Tell the general to fall back and set up a perimeter." She ordered a warrior close to her who took off running towards their armoury.
"I am afraid the amount of damage to your home will be catastrophic should it reach the main land." Thor stated knowing he would have to go all out on this thing just like he did with the machine Loki had sent after him.
"Do what you must and should you fail we will be ready." The Queen looked past his shoulder and back at him.
"I am Thor, Prince of Asgard and god of thunder. I do not fail!" All the warriors' faces lit up in recognition at his proclamation now understanding why the Queen did not mind him being there. He was no ordinary superhero. He was a god.
"Do what you must."
He nodded, turned and flung Miljonir at the annihilator with him in toe. They watched him collide with the behemoth and disappear into the forest.
The queen turned and walked away. "Don't just stand there, let us go and join our sisters in setting up a perimeter." Those that thought they would remain to help Thor quickly followed her.
Phillipus saw her Queen emerge from the forested zone and ran to meet her.
"Why are we making our stand here? Where is the monster? Is Diana fighting it? I am told there is a man in our home." She fired nonstop questions at her and noticed her face sadden at the mention of their princess before becoming neutral again.
"My Queen..." Hippolyta gave her a look which she understood immediately and she changed her question. "Who is fighting that monster?" Superman? Was her only thought because he's the only one who had ever been invited to Themyscira.
"Thor came to aid us." She answered. A large number of the warriors surrounded them watching and waiting for instructions.
"The god of thunder is here?" she was a little surprised.
The Queen ignored her. "We need a perimeter in case the monster breaches to the main land." Eyeing the one the general was supervising being set up.
Just then a loud collision was heard and a flash of lightning struck somewhere in the forest. Everyone pausing what they were doing to look at that direction.
"But that would mean the god of thunder couldn't defeat it." An amazon warrior whispered watching smoke rise up from the distance. "We need our Champion."
That comment got Hippolyta's attention. "What did you say?" she turned to the amazon and before she could answer she punched her. Everyone except Phillipus stepped back shocked.
"We are amazons! And it will be a cold day in hell if an intruder attacks our home and we can't defend against it." She bellowed looking around at her people. "Princess Diana is on a mission in man's world and before she gets here we will defend our home the way we have always done for thousands of years!" The queen spoke as she looked at the crowd.
"Everybody get to your posts!" Phillipus shouted. "You know what to do." Everyone scattered about.
"Where is the princess?" she asked Hippolyta now that it was just the two of them both looking towards the sounds of collisions.
"She is on a mission off world." She answered making Phillipus understand why Thor was here.
"Do you think he will succeed? We don't know which dimension it came from." Phillipus voiced out, Mount Chuom being a gateway to many places.
"If he can't then we will stop it." She motioned to the perimeter being set up.
Back in the forest Thor was picking himself up from slamming against a tree and disintegrating it. Miljonir nowhere in sight. He extended his hand and could hear the familiar boom of Miljonir returning to him. He had just hit it with another powerful lightning strike which only made it stronger and faster managing to get the drop on him. Backhanding him into the tree.
During their bout he had noticed the more he hit it, the more powerful it became reminding him of his good friend the Hulk. It did not have any fighting skill or weapon or anything. It only had its hands which it used to punch, swat, hold and whatever else it could do with it and no matter how hard he hit it with Miljonir, no mark was left on its body. Seemingly it was indestructible.
The annihilator was now fast enough to catch him unaware as it appeared in front of him before punching him into another tree, Miljonir dropping on the ground.
Its eyes lit up and looked at Miljonir on the ground and moved to pick it up. It got hold of its handle and pulled. Miljonir did not barge. It pulled again its eyes glowing brighter. Miljonir did not barge. It brought its other hand down and now used both hands. Miljonir did not barge. Its eyes glowed brighter than before but Miljonir did not barge. Thor extended his hand and Miljonir together with the annihilator sped towards him. He punched it hard the moment it was in range with it colliding with some trees when it was knocked back.
It sped to Thor who saw it coming and it collided with Miljonir creating a shockwave which blew up dust clouding their visibility as well as the amazons at the perimeter wall. Thor put all his strength into a follow up hit which had the annihilator obliterate every tree on its path, crash out of the forest and into a part of the perimeter wall.
Most of the amazons in that part of the wall had serious injuries while a few died from the force of the collision.
"Attack!" Phillipus shouted pointing her sword at it. Arrows and spears split the air as they rained down on it while it was getting up. They just bounced off of it while the amazons who went to strike it were swatted away like flies each of them breaking a certain part of their body.
Thor emerged from the forest and hit the annihilator upwards making it to fly high in the air while Thor gave it chase.
He hit it again sending it further up in the air then his eyes started glowing white and lightning sparks all over Miljonir and him... The entire island suddenly turned dark as the sun was overshadowed by heavy blankets of nimbus clouds. The air charged. The amazons helped their sisters in need while some looked up at the two figures noticing the grim weather.
"Aaarrgghh!!!" The entire sky and island lit up white as he called upon the largest lightning strike he had ever created which struck the annihilator mid-air for a good two minutes before it descended crashing through a dormant volcano mountain and ending up in their sea which generated some sort of tsunami.
Thor saw this and directed another attack at the crest of the tsunami, evaporating the excess water before it reached the island.
Just then the annihilator jumped out of the sea catching him off guard and holding him in a bear hug before plummeting into the sea again.
"It gets stronger the more he fights it." Phillipus informed her Queen whose thoughts seemed to be divided into two. She looked as if she was watching the battle but the general knew her mind was elsewhere.
"Thor will handle it. But we have to help him. Take a few soldiers and go to my vault." She instructed her to her surprise. That was where she stored all weapons enchanted by magic.
"Which ones should we bring?"
"Bring everything." It made sense since all these other weapons did not accomplish anything.
"As you wish, my Queen." She bowed and signalled for a few soldiers to follow her.
"Who is that?" one amazonian pointed to a figure high up next to their magical border with man's world. "The princess has come." Another one shouted, relief in her voice.
Phyllipus and the group heard them and paused looking up at the figure too. If it were Diana she would have come to them immediately but this figure seemed as if he was surveying their land. She went to her Queen.
"Who did you also invite to Themyscira?" it was clearly a man.
Hippolyta looked at her second in command with irritation. "No one. He must be with this monstrosity."
Just then Thor was knocked out of the water his trajectory being the mainland where he demolished a couple of buildings before coming to a stop. The figure in the sky descended following him immediately.
"Assist him." Phillipus was the one to react first ordering another group of warriors pointing to Thors direction. "Remain and hold the ground here." She commanded another group again.
"Let's go." Her earlier group followed her to the vault while Hippolyta ran towards Thors direction.
Thor climbed out of the downed building dusting himself and stretched out his arm. A distant boom sound was heard.
"Thor!!! What are you doing here?" a base voice drew his attention and his face lit up in recognition as he faced him.
"My fellow Asgardian Ben!!" He bellowed Miljonir arriving at that precise time.
Blaze hovered close to him looking around. One minute he was flying over the ocean with Hal and the next he saw this island which had not been in his line of sight or Trixx's map. "Where are we?" Trixx's gps system still indicated they were in the middle of the ocean but did not indicate any nearby island.
Three spears broke against Blaze's back and he turned to see more closing in on him. He hovered higher missing them all. "Attack!!!" Hippolyta shouted as the warriors aimed for Blaze who was hovering side by side completely out of instinct because he couldn't believe what he was seeing. That's Wonder woman's mother he thought as Trixx's facial recognition system identified her from the fortress of solitude video. The others were tagged as 'unknown'.
They all had traditional warrior attire on carrying spears, swords and shields looking up at him taking aim and throwing them.
I believe we are in Themyscira Trixx explained scanning the immediate area noticing how traditional everything was.
"I believe we are." Because he could see how all the women were extraordinarily pretty and the attire they wore left little to imagination just like their princess.
"But how did we get here? I thought it was hidden from the world Blaze mentally asked Trixx as he scanned all around them.
The unexplained sensation you felt earlier must have been your Asgardian magic reacting with Themysciran magic keeping the island hidden Trixx explained. All this is theoretical of course she added.
"Stop!" Thor hurried in front of them. Hippolyta looked at him. "This is Ben, one of the justice league members." He held out his hand to motion them to stand down.
"How dare you lead a mortal man to our sacred ground!" Hippolyta seethed coming to stand in front of him looking between the two noticing a slight resemblance. "This is what I get for trusting you!"
"I would never disrespect your rules your majesty. Even I am bewildered as to how he came to be here." Thor looked up at Blaze who was still dazed out looking at the women.
"Huh?" Blaze focused on them as he noticed everyone had their eyes on him.
"I don't know how I came here to be honest. I was with Green lantern flying over the ocean." He explained his eyes travelling to the vast body of water.
"You lie." One warrior called out. "You have come to aid this monstrosity in destroying our home." Hippolyta searched for whoever spoke out but couldn't find her. I'll deal with them later.
"What monstrosity?" Blaze asked now noticing their how tense they were and the smell of smoke in the air.
Just then a loud crash was heard followed by screams which were slowly dying down.
Thor span Miljonir and took off for the perimeter wall just in time to clobber the annihilator and saving the next group of warriors attempting to stop it. Many others laid down dead.
"What is that?" Blaze asked Trixx who was scanning the behemoth.
"It appears to be an automated battle suit." Trixx scanned the surrounding area highlighting the extensive damage it caused and not slowing down. All these lives lost he thought anger rising up in him. The villains in this universe did not have any qualms about killing, it was crazy.
The annihilator punched Thor to the side and Blaze dove in with a series of punches each capable of levelling a mountain. Queen Hippolyta and the other warriors assisting those in need of medical attention having no choice but to look on. Phillipus had also brought the magically enhanced weapons but the queen instructed her to stand down first.
The annihilator blocked his punch and delivered one of its own which staggered Blaze back his invulnerable skin stinging before disappearing. Miljonir collided with it sending it flying back crashing into the trees.
"Are you alright?" Thor came to stand next to Blaze who was still rubbing his cheek.
"It packs a punch!" he admitted looking in its direction.
"It gets stronger the more you hit it." Thor revealed. "Not even the might of Miljonir can put a dent on it."
"I know." He saw how it shrugged off his attack and right now was charging at them again. He looked at Thors appearance and indeed most of his exposed skin was an angry red in colour signifying just how much damage he was taking fighting it.
"No matter." Miljonir returned to him. "One of us shall not be leaving here alive." He span Miljonir and went to meet it head on again.
"His observation is correct. My scan is indicating a rise in its energy output every time Miljonir hits it." Trixx reported. "This is very unusual for a technological being."
A light bubble lit up in his head. "And I have the right person to control technology." He scrolled his watch and tapped it disappearing in a flash of green light then Upgrade appeared.
Thor who had been knocked back almost attacked him but stood down when he saw the omnitrix symbol. He knew he had transformed into something else.
Upgrade ran towards the annihilator who punched him but instead of falling back, he stuck and spread his body all over it till he covered it from head to toe. Upgrade tried to merge with the annihilator but it wasn't happening. The annihilator grabbed a fist full of upgrades body and tore him off it before flinging him aside and knocking himself against a tree.
"That could have been worse." He spoke up in his robotic voice and turned to Ben in a green flash. Upgrades nanites were acting up after his attempt.
"What happened? What was that?" Thor who had flung Miljonir at the annihilator again came to ask him as he had seen him turn into it back at the watchtower.
"I tried controlling it but it resisted me." "Trixx, what was that about? I thought you said it was a robot." He yelled into the omnitrix.
"It is a robot." She confirmed via the audio system. "I have no logical explanation at this time."
"Great." He exclaimed looking at the annihilator which was charging at them again. "Now what?" changing to his usual powerhouses won't be of much help here.
"This is a formidable foe indeed." Thor conceded his Asgardian hunger for battle happy as brute force only powered it up more.
"I have formulated a strategy that would require your permission to put it in motion." Trixx voiced out displaying an unknown alien in Ben's HUD. He's never turned into that before.
"What is it talking about?" "Do it." They spoke at the same time. Ben disappeared in a bright flash of green.
JURYRIGG!!! FIX! FIX! FIX!
Thor looked down to where the sound came from and was actually taken a back and disappointed at what he saw. He knew he would turn into an alien or some other weird thing but he never expected such a tiny and scrawny one. What would that thing help us with?
Thor saw a small gremlin like alien with four fingered hands, three toed feet and a devil like tail probably the height of Miljonir. Its skin was crimson red and wore an aviator's outfit. His eyes had black pupils, his ears were spiked, his teeth just out of his mouth and had a very big nose.
FIX! FIX! FIX! Thor heard it repeat its earlier sentiment and jump up and down in excitement as it saw the annihilator charging towards them.
Juryrigg sprinted forward and pounced on the annihilator who brought its fist forward to punch him but missed as he manoeuvred onto its body.
FIX! FIX! FIX! Juryrigg shouted again and his hands started moving at super speed all over the annihilator's body and parts of it started flying everywhere.
Thor was watching what was happening but couldn't believe what he was seeing. The tiny creature managed to find the robots weakness, more like weaknesses. In a short moment the upper half of the annihilator was disassembled and juryrigg moving to the lower part.
"He did it!" Thor looked back and saw an army of amazons staring all having shocked expressions clearly witnessing everything that just happened. Hippolyta and Phillipus were equally slack jawed staring at the robot parts being thrown everywhere.
FIX! FIX! FIX! Was the only words being heard at the moment. The annihilator was completely disassembled with juryrigg throwing up its parts up in celebration and jumping around.
"That was fun!" he exclaimed. "What next?" He asked himself in his high pitched voice everyone in shock it could talk so fluently. He eyed Thors hammer.
FIX! FIX! FIX! He sprinted to it but was electrocuted by it the minute he touched it and flung away.
"Ouch!" he looked back at the parts laying on the ground.
FIX! FIX! FIX! He sprinted towards them again but a flash of bright green light was seen just as he was about to touch one of the parts again. Ben fell face forward into the parts having changed mid sprint.
"Ouch!!!" he sat up.
"A witch!!!" one amazon aimed for him and threw her spear narrowly missing him because of his reflexes while others pointed their weapons at him.
"Stand down!!!" the Queen shouted loud enough for everyone to hear her. "Tend to our injured sisters and the lost ones need to be given a proper burial." She ordered not having time to explain to them about anything. She'll do that to the senate only.
"It's him." Phillipus whispered to Hippolyta eyeing the watch Diana told them could do the impossible which they had just witnessed.
Thor had moved close to Ben in case they wanted to attack him.
"That was a new one." Ben exclaimed standing up. Juryrigg knew what he was doing when he dismantled the annihilator and could have easily assembled it back had he not changed in time. He would have to ask Trixx about him later. Right now though he eyed Queen Hippolyta and the other lady coming towards them.
"Thank you for your help." Hippolyta picked up a part of the annihilator inspecting it.
"Men are not allowed in Themyscira." Phillipus began.
"Your majesty..." Thor started but was cut off.
"But we are in your debt so we won't kick you out immediately." Hippolyta added. She looked at the parts. "I fail to understand how a simple machine could cause this much damage and harm." Their forest just lost half of the tree population and they would have to replant them.
"It's not from this world and it's not merely a machine." Ben spoke up while Trixx scanned the parts and the results being 'unknown'.
"How do you know?" Phillipus asked.
"I would have been able to control it on my first try." He responded.
"You mean the snake like thing?"
"Yes. It was infused with magic." He revealed.
"So that's why it was so hard to bring it down." The general was deep in thought.
"Well I am glad you showed up my friend!" Thor patted his back. "We will help in cleaning this place up before we leave." Huge fallen trees were everywhere. The forest was so disorganised.
"Only if her majesty allows us."
They looked at each other and the queen allowed.
Looking around them Ben pressed the dial of his omnitrix searching for something. "This won't take long." He pressed and vanished in another flash of green light.
The others saw a humanoid plant like alien that has an overall green and black coloured body encrusted with muck, mostly with a red flame-patterned head and root-like feet, seemingly holding black rocks. His eyes were oval-shaped with points at each end with pupils copying the shape but were smaller. Also, his shoulders and head had red petals and his elbows and legs had green frills sticking out. He was taller than an average human.
Thor, Hippolyta and Phillipus stared slack jawed at what under a different circumstance they would only term as a monster but knew it was Ben. The omnitrix symbol was on its chest.
Swampfire turned and walked away from them looking around at the fallen trees and burnt vegetation. He could feel their pain because of his chlorokinesis.
Phillipus looked to Thor and noticed he was just as shocked as them.
Swampfire's fingers extended and sunk into the ground and his body glowed green. The surrounding vegetation also started growing green.
Right in front of their eyes tendrils and vines from broken trees connected with the fallen trees like a puzzle each seemingly knowing the one compatible to them. Burnt vegetation regained its healthy green colour while all the enormous trees reconnected to their roots. In fact every vegetation in Themyscira glowed green. The worn out preferred pathways also shone bright with new grass covering them. Everyone on Themyscira stopped whatever they were doing and looked at the vegetation around them wondering what was happening
Thor, Hippolyta and Phillipus also looked around as they were surrounded with huge healthy trees. Flash of green alerted them again to his change.
"We have a problem." He warned scrolling the omnitrix for another alien.
"What my friend!!!" Thor became alert and all of them went for their weapons looking around.
"There's an active volcano." he pointed to it in the distance.
"Are you sure? For all the years we have been here none has ever acted up..." Hippolyta looked at Phillipus concerned for the people living near it. "Give notice for the evacuation alarm to be sounded."
"Don't worry. I'm going to redirect it into the water before it overflows." Ben found what he was looking for and pressed the dial again disappearing in the now familiar green flash.
Phillipus took an involuntary step back while Thor and Hippolyta tightened their hold on their weapons.
They saw a yellow ten-foot-tall alien with an armoured, mechanical robotic-like body. His head similar to a Greek Corinthian helmet with two ears on it, giving him the appearance of an armadillo. It had a grey tail and jackhammer parts on his elbows, wrists and hands, creating the impression that he is a digging robot. It was bulky just as the annihilator. They saw the omnitrix symbol on its chest.
"What are you going to do?" Thor enquired looking at his form. The two women stared as they had just witnessed Ben turn into five species.
"Dig." He morphed his hands into spinning drills, started vibrating while drilling and disappeared into the ground gliding through solid earth and rock as simply as humans walk through air.
"You have an interesting friend." Hippolyta commented to Thor who was peering at the patch of disturbed earth in front of them. He thought he would leave a big hole in his wake given the size of his body.
"True. He has the heart and fighting spirit of an Asgardian." He boasted looking up at them then at the pieces of the annihilator which Phillipus started assembling at the centre.
"Themyscira would not have survived if you two weren't here. Especially now that my daughters are not around."
Phillipus straightened herself paying attention. "Cate has joined the justice league!?" this day was something else. One surprise after the other. She assumed Cate went along with Diana in their off world mission.
"Don't be absurd! She's still too young for that."
"Then where is she?" Hippolyta was saved when Armadillo appeared from the same spot gaining their attention.
"I have directed the lava far into the ocean by constructing an underground tunnel." He explained his muddy appearance. He turned to Ben again whose clothes were miraculously clean.
"How often do you that?" Phillipus watched him and realised he was just a teenager when she studied him.
"Whenever necessary." Ben replied. "I have to get going. Green lantern is probably wondering where I disappeared to." Plus I have overstayed my welcome based on everything he knew about Themyscira.
"Is there any news about my daughter?" Hope was evident in her voice but no news had been communicated.
"I'm afraid no news has come." Her facial expression fell. Phillipus was keenly studying them all and Thor was still looking at the place Armadrillo emerged from not understanding how a hole was not formed.
Something heavy tagged at Ben's heart. "If no word has been received from them by the time we get back to the watchtower I will go and help them..." he declared gaining Thor's attention. "I will go with him too." He walked to them, gripped Miljonir and short bursts of lightning arcs travelled all over his body repairing his armour.
"Stay for our supper. It's the least we can do." Hippolyta suggested grateful. If someone like Ben and Thor were to go to war world then their chances of coming back unscathed and quickly would rise.
"I know they helped us and all but we still have rules and the senate will want answers." Phillipus advised her Queen. "It's better to invite them back after we've rebuilt and straightened things out." In short discussed it with everyone as they had done with Superman
"It's okay your majesty. We shall inform you of any changes." Thor gave his word.
"Store them in your vault or something. I'm sure the owner will want to take it back." Ben suggested as Trixx scanned and catalogued every piece of the annihilator on the ground.
"We will. Phillipus will escort you both to the portal room." She nodded to the general who gave her a look which stated we have a lot to discuss. They left the queen guarding the pieces and walked away.
Hephaestus Lair
Everything was going according to plan in testing out the weapon and it was their good luck that the intended target happened to show up with it seeming nothing he did could stop the annihilator until he turned into a scrawny little creature which proceeded to dismantle the annihilator as if it was child's play. What took their combined effort hours to build was dismantled within minutes.
"Unbelievable!!!" Hephaestus smiled chuckling at the whole thing. Whatever he turned into dismantled it with the precision of a surgeon each part coming out intact the way it should.
"I thought you said it was indestructible!" Ares seethed. Damn that boy!!!
"It's supposed to be to anyone who isn't me."
"Stop laughing! This is why I told you not to under estimate that human." He pointed to the pieces on the projection.
"That watch." Hephaestus corrected.
"What?"
"You said that human." He zoomed in on the omnitrix. "It's supposed to be that watch."
"What are you going on about?"
"The watch is what is powerful." He chuckled. "Finally a challenge." He felt giddy looking at the omnitrix. It turned the human to something that easily dismantled his (the Greek god of craftsmanship) creation without having to consult him. Something never accomplished before.
"Whatever. What will we do? Look at how powerful it is." They watched Ben turn into juryrigg, upgrade, swampfire and armadrillo. "Should I go and retrieve the pieces?" his voice containing a hint of urgency.
"Keep calm." "If you are in such a hurry you can go to your human and order him around. My work is not rushed."
Ares clenched his fist. You're lucky I don't have a choice.
"That's what I thought." Hephaestus responded smugly. It was so amusing how humble his brother was being. He could practically taste his desperation.
"Let them have the pieces. We don't want them knowing who was responsible for it lest our parents find out."
Unbeknownst to them, Zeus was watching them scheme also curious about that watch that grabbed his stubborn son's attention. He had come ready to punish them both but what he discovered made him rethink everything. For such a simple watch to gain the respect of Hephaestus was something to look into. He disappeared again both gods oblivious to their father's presence and whatever surveillance he left behind.
