Junior started to walk to where Hamar was staying, using some basic false spirit wills that he had, running at a moderate speed without exhaustion.
As he closed in on Hamar's house, Junior slowed and came to a halt in front of the door. He knocked on it, waiting for Hamar to get up.
Eventually the door opened and Hamar greeted him,
"Little Junior how are you, what can I do for you today?"
Junior walked into the house while taking,
"I just don't know what to do. I don't feel drawn to fighting or any trades..."
"I remember you were quite a brainy guy, I've got an idea, follow me."
Hamar pulled out his sword and threw it onto the ground outside.
"Step on"
Junior tentatively stepped into he sword and it glew and started floating. Junior felt a pull on his feet, so he wouldn't fall off.
"Woah what is this, why have I never seen it?"
"I only just made, you're the first tester, that's why!"
Hamar had gained inspiration from the special move he used before, given from Hou by Araxis. It used aura and created swords he could control from afar. Using a similar premise, he thought of using a real sword and people look could step on it and fly.
Additionally. He used a slight vortex to keep whoever stood on it, safely planted and notable to fall of.
"Come follow me"
Hamar started walking into the air with aura manifesting below him, at the same time the flying sword followed floating smoothly.
Hamar and Junior were moving through the air towards the city. Flying high in the sky, Hamar picked up the pace and the two could see the whole city from above, the winding streets and the construction happening all around.
Hamar started descending, down towards a balcony with Junior following not too long later. Hamar stepped into the balcony and knocked.
Junior was pushed off the sword into he balcony and the sword floated back and settled in Hamar's waist.
"Come in"
Hamar and Junior heard a shout from further in the house from Hou. They opened the balcony door into Hou's room and passing through.
They went through the house until they came upon a sitting room where Hou was on the floor with paper scraps shuffled around him.
"I noticed you came yesterday while I wasn't there, thanks for the drink by the way, so I set up a formation. Now I can know whenever somebody comes close and see who it is."
"No use explaining it to me, but Junior here might wanna hear. He's a bit confused on what he wants to do, what about teaching him that magic of yours, he's a smart kid."
Junior was looking at the papers in the floor when Hou called him over,
"Hey uncle Hou"
Hou looked at Junior for a while, not moving, until he gasped. He composed himself and said,
"I'll see about it, Hamar you can leave if you want, thanks again!"
Hamar winked and took his leave, going through the front door this time and flying away with his sword.
"I like that flying sword, how was it?"
"Hmm, what, the flying sword?"
"Yeah how was it like to use it"
"It was... Really fun, it was super smooth and no matter what I couldn't fall"
Hou thought for a second before saying something,
"Well how about this, I'll tell you about magic and if you want you can learn it and I'll make you a flying sword yourself"
Junior frozen and thought for a second,
"Sure!"
"Okay then let me tell you what magic is. Magic is.... manipulating the way of the world to follow your needs. Like for example, I put this herb in this magic circle."
Hou pulled out a herb from his black robe and drew a circle onto a piece of paper. He placed the herb in the circle and placed his hand over that.
The circle flew and the herb disappeared, then when he threw a rock in the circle, it floated!
"How does that work!?" Junior knew of special abilities but this was just a circle and a herb.
"Simple. The herb exists here and it exists in the astral world. In the astral world the herb is made of 'floating' particles. When I used the magic circle, I was able to turn those 'floating' particles into an effect, letting the rock float. That is the essence of witchcraft. Magic by itself is a little harder, it uses mana, something all around us, and using special formations it creates new effects or changes old ones."
"I understand the witchcraft a little but not magic, what do you mean?"
"Let me show you, I'll explain first. I'm gonna use this invisible force, mana, and change something in the rules of the world. Like how we can move off the ground, I'll make it so we have to try really hard to"
Hou closed his eyes and astrally projected, in the astral world he saw the threads of gravity and using mana strengthened them.
He opened his eyes and said,
"It is done"
Junior tried standing up and instead he felt like he was pulled the the ground by a strong force, even using all his strength he could barely move.
"I....see, so you used mana and made the force pulling me down stronger?"
"Exactly, if you want, you can become a mage or witch. I won't force you to fight yourself, you can focus on supporting my magic or even crafting magic items."
"I want to! Definitely!"
Hou smiled and stood up, holding out his hand. Junior tried standing but Hou had forgotten to release the magic. Hou shook his head and released the magic. Junior took his hand and they sealed the deal. Hou gained his first magician disciple.
Once Junior left, Hou got to making the flying sword he promised.
'it would need to float, but also fly and also it would need to be controlled by a non mage. Maybe by the force applied to the sword, if he leans left, it veers left? So I'll need to use some magic circles to detect pressure, and some that power the flight. What should I use as the power source though...'
Hou infused his body with wills and spoke,
"Araxis, I'll need to learn some stuff about magic tools. I've never bothered with power sources since I've been using my own magic tools but now I'm making one for my disciple. It needs to have high power storage"
"Hmm, you could use anything, like herbs and meat, sacrifices and all that but yes for something more efficient I've got something. A mana stone, solidified mana."
