Chapter 22 - Ten Desire Part 2

Kasen looked at Chris as she spoke. "Still, you put up a good fight when you first Escape".

Chris looked at his Spellbook, which had a hole through it. "Thank".

Kasen looked at Chris as she spoke. "Sense we all are about Desire, do you have one".

Chris went quiet as he spoke. "Attention".

Kasen raised an eyebrow at Chris's response. "Attention?"

Chris sighed, glancing down at his damaged spellbook. "Yeah. Back in the human world, no one really noticed me. I was just… there. Even in my own family, I was the background character. But here? In Gensokyo? People actually see me. They care when I go missing. I matter here."

Kasen crossed her arms, nodding slowly. "That's quite the honest answer. Most people would hesitate to admit something like that."

Chris let out a dry chuckle. "Well, what about you? You're involved in all of this because of your desire, right?"

Kasen smiled slightly but didn't answer immediately. Instead, she turned toward the glowing magic circle that held Chris. "Desire is a tricky thing, Chris. People think they understand what they want, but the moment they get it, they realize it's not enough. Or worse—they realize it was never what they truly needed in the first place."

Chris tilted his head. "Sounds like you're speaking from experience."

Kasen's expression didn't change. "Maybe."

Before Chris could push further, the air around them rippled with power. Both of them turned toward the disturbance, sensing an approaching presence.

Kasen smirked. "Looks like your friends are catching up. I was hoping for a little more time, but I suppose this will have to do."

Chris sighed. "Yeah, I figured they wouldn't take me getting kidnapped lightly."

Kasen looked at him one last time. "You might not realize it yet, but you're more important to Gensokyo than you think. Don't let your desire for attention blind you to the bigger picture."

Chris rolled his eyes. "Cryptic much?"

Kasen chuckled. "It's part of my charm."

With that, she stepped back, the magic around them shifting. Chris braced himself—whatever came next, he knew things were about to get even more chaotic.

Back with Reimu, Marisa and Cassidy, as Sanae had joined them, as they were fighting two people.

One is an undead She wears a blue hat with a yellow star and an ofuda on the forehead, which has a to-do list written on it by her master. She wears a red Chinese-styled shirt with a pink trim on the wide sleeves, and a black skirt with the same trim wrapped around it like a ribbon. She keeps her arms ahead, like a zombie.

Next to her was another girl, as she was probably her master; she had blue eyes and blue hair styled into a Flying Xian Hair Style. She wears a simple teal dress with a floral design with a white and blue vest with Chinese patterns. On her waist is a flower secured by her belt. On her left leg is a talisman likely for Yoshika-related reasons

[Insert Image of Seiga Kaku]

Marisa grunted as she spoke. "Ok, why the hell are you trying to stop us".

Seiga sighed as she spoke. "Oh, why, simple, you all are trying to stop the Spirit".

Yoshiko then spoke as she finished Seiga's words. "The spirits are welling gathering, for the Rebirth of powerful person".

Reimu swung her gohei, deflecting a wave of spirit energy as she narrowed her eyes at Seiga. "And who exactly is this powerful person you're so eager to bring back?"

Seiga giggled behind her hand. "Oh, wouldn't you like to know~?"

Cassidy clicked her tongue in annoyance. "Lady, I swear, I am not in the mood for cryptic nonsense today."

Sanae summoned a gust of divine wind, forcing Yoshika back as she spoke. "Look, we don't have time for this! We need to find Chris before things get even worse!"

Seiga's playful smirk didn't waver as she gently placed a hand on Yoshika's shoulder. "Yoshika, dear, do be a good girl and keep our guests entertained for a bit longer."

Yoshika nodded stiffly, her movements sluggish like a proper Jiangshi. "Understood, Master."

Before Seiga could slip away, Marisa fired a barrage of star-shaped danmaku at her, forcing the hermit to retreat mid-air. "Oh no, you don't! You're not getting away that easy!"

Seiga's smirk widened as she effortlessly dodged Marisa's attack. "Oh, but I already have~! I'll leave you to play with my adorable Yoshika. Have fun!"

With that, she disappeared into the darkness, leaving Yoshika standing alone.

Reimu groaned. "Of course she ran. Why do they always run?"

Yoshika, however, remained unbothered by the loss of her master's presence. She simply raised her arms, tilting her head unnaturally as she mumbled, "Orders received. Eliminating obstacles."

Cassidy cracked her knuckles. "Alright, fine. If you wanna play, let's play."

As Yoshika charged forward, the fight against the Jiangshi began in full force.

As the moon hung high above Gensokyo, an eerie silence descended upon the battlefield. Kaguya's presence was overwhelming, and the energy she emanated made the air feel thick with tension. Her army of Moon Kingdom soldiers, draped in silver armour, formed a nearly impenetrable wall around her. Kaguya's eyes gleamed with cold fury, her bloodlust palpable as she scanned the surroundings.

Cassidy tensed as she locked eyes with Kaguya. "Kaguya, what are you doing here?" she asked, her voice laced with a mix of confusion and caution.

Kaguya slowly turned her head, her smile more dangerous than comforting. The bloodlust in her eyes could send shivers down even the most hardened of spines. "Oh, don't forget, I was there when I saw Chris get kidnapped. So I'm just here to find him."

At that moment, Seiga's voice echoed in the distance. "Seriously, who is this Chris? I need a picture or something."

The group's attention shifted back to Kaguya as she stepped forward, her presence imposing. "Did you find the person that kidnapped him?" she asked, her voice colder than usual.

Marisa scowled, her gun ready, though she was frustrated. "Nope, we're still trying to find them while fighting this zombie in this graveyard. What 3rd-rate movie is this?"

Kaguya's gaze darkened even further. "Good. Because once I get my hands on them, I will—"

Her words hung in the air like a silent threat. The intensity of her tone made it clear she was not to be trifled with. Then, Kaguya muttered words that no one in Gensokyo would ever want to hear, words so chilling and horrifying that even Seiga, who was watching the battle from afar, froze in place for a moment.

Cassidy's wings twitched, and the atmosphere around them grew heavy as if the very world had turned against them.

The words Kaguya spoke had a power to them, the kind that could shatter the sanity of even the bravest warrior. They weren't just threats—they were promises of unspeakable torment, of pain beyond imagining.

For a brief moment, everything seemed to freeze. The soldiers of the Moon Kingdom stood still as if even they feared what Kaguya could unleash. The rest of the group remained silent, eyes wide, as they processed the horrifying implications of Kaguya's words.

Kasen, hidden from view, used her powers to observe the situation. She could feel the intense, dark aura that Kaguya had unleashed. The momentary calm that followed was chilling, as if the world itself had stopped breathing.

Seiga, still distant, chuckled softly to herself, feeling the tension build, but not quite understanding the gravity of the situation. "Ah, Kaguya, always the dramatic one. What's the worst that could happen?"

But back with the group, the fear that Kaguya's words had instilled in them was very real. There was something in her eyes, something unhinged and raw that made everyone pause. Even Marisa and Reimu exchanged uneasy glances.

Kaguya, still smiling, exhaled slowly. "You have no idea what kind of hell I can unleash."

And that was enough to shake everyone to their core.

Back with Chris and Kasen, the air between them was thick with tension as they stood in the quiet aftermath of the chaotic battle. The sounds of distant fighting echoed in the background, but here, in this isolated moment, everything seemed eerily calm. Chris stared into the distance, his expression a mix of disbelief and amusement.

Chris blinked, trying to process what had just happened. "I thought getting my head bitten off by an animatronic would be the most traumatizing event in my life," he muttered, shaking his head in disbelief. "But no... that honour goes to the words said by the Moon Princess."

Kasen couldn't help but chuckle softly at Chris's dry comment, though she was fully aware of how dangerous Kaguya's presence could be. Her gaze softened as she studied him, her tone less biting than usual. "You have some scary friends," she remarked with a hint of amusement, as though she were almost impressed by the company Chris kept.

Chris let out a small sigh, still processing the shock of the encounter. "Scary doesn't even begin to cover it," he said, his voice still carrying a hint of disbelief. "I mean, Kaguya just threatened us all like she was ordering a meal at a restaurant. But hey, I guess that's just part of living here in Gensokyo, right?"

Kasen shrugged nonchalantly, her expression unreadable. "You get used to it. At least you didn't end up like most of the other poor souls who cross her path." She tilted her head slightly, eyeing him curiously. "But you're still here, which means you've got something more than luck on your side."

Chris couldn't help but smile wryly. "Yeah, something like that."

Kasen's gaze flickered for a moment before she seemed to settle into a more contemplative stance. "Well, you did put up a good fight." Her eyes narrowed slightly, almost as if she were thinking over something more than just their recent confrontation. "That's why I'm keeping an eye on you, Chris. You might just be the key to something bigger, whether you know it or not."

Chris raised an eyebrow, still processing her cryptic words. "I'm the key to something bigger?" he repeated, incredulous. "I'm just here, trying to survive, not looking to get involved in world-shattering events."

Kasen chuckled softly, her tone light but carrying an edge of mystery. "You might not be looking for it, but sometimes, fate doesn't give you a choice."

Chris paused for a moment, reflecting on everything that had happened since he arrived in Gensokyo. From his rebirth as a spirit guide to the strange, otherworldly encounters, he couldn't help but wonder what his true purpose in this chaotic world was.

With a sigh, he spoke again, this time more seriously. "So what now? We're just supposed to keep waiting for whatever's coming next? Because I've got a feeling things aren't going to settle down any time soon."

Kasen's gaze turned distant as if she were pondering the future herself. "That depends on you, Chris. You've already played a part in things that even I couldn't foresee. Whatever happens next... it's up to you to decide whether you're going to fight or just watch from the sidelines."

Chris looked down, gripping the edges of his now-damaged spellbook, as he considered Kasen's words. He could feel the weight of responsibility settling on his shoulders, despite his attempts to avoid it. Deep down, he knew that the path ahead was going to be anything but ordinary.

"I guess I'll just have to face whatever comes next," he said, more to himself than to Kasen. "But first things first... I need to find my way back to my friends."

Kasen gave him a small nod, her lips curling into a faint smile. "And that's where the real challenge begins."

Chris then looked at his Spell book which was done regenerating. "Ah ha, Holy Light Of Kindness".

As the blinding light of Chris's Holy Light of Kindness engulfed the area, Kasen squinted, her eyes closing instinctively against the brightness. The light, so pure and intense, cut through the magic that had been holding him in place, and as the glow subsided, Chris was no longer floating helplessly in the air—he was soaring above her, his wings spread wide.

Kasen opened her eyes just in time to see Chris, now free from her bindings, smirking down at her. His confident grin was infectious, and for a brief moment, even she couldn't help but feel a flicker of admiration for his resilience. But that didn't mean she was about to let him go without a challenge.

Chris, still hovering above, glanced down at her, his tone playful yet full of determination. "Take this, Hex of Tripping."

Before Kasen could react, Chris made a swift motion with his hands, and suddenly, an invisible force seemed to grip at Kasen's feet. Her body lurched forward, and for a moment, she felt as though her footing was completely lost.

"Wha—!" Kasen gasped, her balance thrown off as she stumbled.

She managed to regain her footing just in time, but not without a look of irritation crossing her face. "So, you want to play dirty, huh?" She glared at him, but there was a flicker of respect in her eyes. "You're much more trouble than I gave you credit for."

Chris floated a little higher, still grinning. "You didn't think I was going to just sit here and wait to be your prisoner, did you? If I'm going down, I'm taking as many people as I can with me."

Kasen grinned back, her tone darkening slightly. "You're not getting away that easily. But, I'll admit, you do have some fight in you. Too bad you'll be distracted soon enough."

As Chris spoke with a mischievous grin, his hands swiftly gestured through the air, and a flash of arcane energy gathered around his fingertips. "Curse of Temporary Blindness, also... Bye."

Before Kasen could even register the warning, a wave of dark energy shot toward her eyes. A piercing light flickered in front of her vision, and the world around her instantly went dark.

Kasen blinked in confusion, her hands instinctively reaching up to rub her eyes. "What the—?!"

The curse had taken hold. For the next few moments, her vision was completely obscured, and she was temporarily blinded. In that brief window of vulnerability, Chris took his chance.

With a swift motion, he flew higher into the air, using the opportunity to escape her grasp. "See ya!" Chris called out, a playful yet determined tone in his voice as he soared out of Kasen's reach.

Kasen stood still for a moment, her frustration mounting as she tried to clear her vision, but the blindness still held strong. Her lips curled into a smirk, despite her annoyance. "Clever little brat... you won't get far."

As Chris sped away, she knew that she'd have to act fast to counter this new trick. The curse was only temporary, but it was enough to give Chris a head start.

In the distance, the soft glow of magic started to return to Kasen's eyes, her vision slowly clearing. She quickly recovered her focus, her lips curling into a dark smile. "You might've escaped now, but you're not free yet."

Meanwhile, Chris, with his heart pounding from the close call, continued to fly as fast as he could. He didn't know how long Kasen's blindness would last, but he had to make the most of this moment.

"Okay," he thought to himself, "time to find a way to get out of here and back to my friends."

But even as he flew away, he could sense that this battle was far from over. Kasen might have been temporarily blinded, but she wouldn't give up that easily. Chris could only hope that whatever he had planned next would be enough to keep her at bay, at least for a little longer.

And with that, the chase continued, as the two of them remained locked in a high-stakes contest of wits, power, and magic.
