Kyle felt dizzy, his entire body covered in wounds. The massive blood loss made him feel cold.
His comrades, who had once fought by his side, had—without warning—turned into devils. And their only goal seemed to be killing Ava. He had long lost count of how many fireballs he had cast.
At first, once he ran out of mana, it took nearly half an hour to gather enough to cast just one more fireball. But later, he found the time needed to recover mana was growing shorter. That should've been a good thing—unfortunately, their enemy was far too powerful.
During those gaps when he was recovering mana, all he could do was cling to Ava and desperately dodge the relentless attacks from that demon called Sairos. When there was nowhere left to run, he threw himself in front of the blows, determined to shield Ava even if it meant getting hurt himself.
That's how his body ended up covered in wounds.
