Chapter 33 - 33-God Descends

The world was filled with warm golden light, one so soothing that it washed away all their despair.

Wherever the light fell, Life bloomed. Every wound, every sickness, every weakness, tiredness— all was washed away, as if it never existed in the first place...

It was peaceful... much warmer than what the people of Babylon had ever felt.

The cries and shouts all stopped. The crowd was filled with shock, relief, and ecstasy as they looked up.

There was a man... no, a God. Yes, it can only be God... no man is capable of such deeds...

He had both his arms raised, in a T-shaped pose, looking majestic. The golden light was radiating from him, and under the light, the previous bloodshed was all gone. Instead, there were flowers and beautiful plants growing everywhere, creating a scene more beautiful than anything they had ever seen.

But not everyone was happy under the divine might of the God. The demons, who were slaughtering them just now, were screeching in agony as the light fell upon them. Their previous human-like skin burned, and soon they took on a hideous form... their faces almost similar to what they were before, but now they had red skin, and horns too... they looked as if they were the very definition of evil...

But there was nothing to fear now. If it had been before, they might have been afraid, but now? Now God is on their side, and there is nothing those puny demons of evil could do, except wait to be judged by God—punished for the sins and atrocities they had committed upon the people of Babylon.

"Servants of the celestial demons... you dare to sneak into this world and commit such heinous acts... you need to be purged... eradicated... for the sins you have committed..." I said, in a deep voice, as if seething in anger.

"I, Magnar, The God of Life, Creation, and Wisdom, banish you from existence itself!!" I shouted, with the best act I could pull off, and raised a hand, and—

"DIVINE JUDGEMENT!!"

From the sky fell golden beams, which landed accurately on each eternal golem, and before they could say anything, they were obliterated.

Erased. There wasn't even a corpse left. The only remembrance of those demons was the people they had slaughtered and the unending holes in the earth, caused by the mighty attack of God. The people of Babylon watched this scene with palpable shock. They had just witnessed the might of God...

The demons, who could so effortlessly kill every Babylonian, were obliterated by God with a single attack...

Magnar... what a holy name... the name of God... Everyone, even the children, had remembered this name deep within their hearts.

How could they not? This was their saviour, their God, their creator... The very god of Creation and Life itself. Even the Wisdom they were so proud of, which differed them from lowly animals, came from their God, Magnar.

They all kneeled, prostrated, praying with their utmost sincerity. With the demons gone, there was no need to be afraid anymore. As for the dead left behind... well, let's first focus on God. The dead weren't going anywhere anyway...

Magnar, who was still in the sky, then turned his attention toward the people who were prostrating before him, a small smile forming on his lips as he looked at them, their devotion palpable.

"O Mighty God! Please! Please save my son... he... he isn't breathing anymore... those demons... they hurt him... please, God... please!" said a woman, shouting, clutching a dead child in her arms. Those around her tried to stop her, fearing that she might end up offending Magnar, but she still persisted and continued to sob and shout...

'Maybe we overdid it a bit... right, Raph?' I questioned as I looked at this scene...

My eyes surveyed around, and I also saw the corpses of other Babylonians, numbering in the thousands, killed by the golems...

Well, how to say it... I was having a guilt trip...

[Master... a firm determination is necessary to accomplish anything you desire... A weak will would only lead to indecisiveness and ultimately weakness. Therefore, you have to stand firm in whatever you decide. But if you feel guilty and want to make up for them somehow, then what about after bringing them back, you can offer them some gifts, which you think are enough for removing your guilt for this transgression.]

'Indeed... maybe I should reward them something... but what would be a proper gift? Considering that after I bring them back to life in peak health, their only problem would be a traumatic experience, so which gift will be enough to offset a trauma?'

[I suggest you think of it yourself. That way, you can feel most satisfied with your gift.]

'Yeah, you're right Raph... gifts are about thoughtfulness...'

Anyways, let's decide about that later. For now, let's continue with the acting.

I slowly descended toward the wailing woman and looked at the dead (not actually, since he is still alive technically) and looked at him with sadness. Well, at least the sadness was genuine...

I raised my hand and stroked the child's head, a golden light emitting from it.

And soon, the child moved. He was back to full health.

Now, as you can imagine, this scene caused the intended effect. The woman started crying and thanking me over and over. The rest of the people started begging me to resurrect their family members too.

I listened to all their qualms, and then—

"People of Babylon... you have suffered... If I had come a bit earlier, maybe I could have saved more of you... But I was far too busy stopping the Celestial Demon, that I did not notice a few of his servants sneaking... Although death is the final destination of life, you do not deserve such a cruel death...." I said calmly. As I spoke, there was pin-drop silence around. People were even holding their breath, just to ensure that they did not miss a single word.

"Therefore... I have decided to grant you... Life... I would bring everyone who has died today due to the actions of those demons back to life!!"

And cheers erupted.
