With that, Lucian nodded and vanished. The Lycans lunged at Kaelen, but just before they struck, a flash of fire lit the area. The warriors were engulfed in flames. Kaelen saw a vehicle approach, and out stepped Ariana.
"I told you to stay in the—" Kaelen began.
"You said a lot! You think I'm going to let you die alone?" Ariana yelled, pulling a gun from her coat. "We're in this together!"
"Ariana, why are you here? This isn't your fight, you shouldn't be out here," Kaelen protested.
"You're right. This isn't my fight, but it's about you, and I won't let you die, no matter what," Ariana replied.
More Lycans surged into the town square, their faces lit by the flames. They were surrounded.
"Alright, Solace," Kaelen said, forcing a grin. "Let's give them a fight they'll remember." He grabbed the rifle and got ready. "How good are you at reloading?"
