Chapter 582 - Chapter 583: Shattered Reflections

The tension in the city was palpable, each passing hour thick with the weight of inevitable destruction. Jayden, having found the letter, was now driven by a new sense of purpose—yet also by an overwhelming fear. The truth was out there, waiting for him, but every piece he uncovered seemed to pull him deeper into the abyss.

---

The moon hung high in the sky, a pale witness to the chaos that was unfolding beneath it. Jayden's thoughts were scattered as he walked down the darkened streets, his footsteps echoing in the quiet night. The city, once a place of power and certainty, now felt like a cage. Every corner he turned felt like another layer of the mask falling away.

He had to get answers—answers that only one person could provide: Tielen. His loyal ally, or so he thought. But loyalty was a fragile thing in a world like theirs, and Jayden couldn't ignore the fact that Tielen's actions had been erratic of late. A trusted friend, or a dangerous enemy? The line was too thin to call.

The phone buzzed in his pocket, pulling him from his thoughts. It was a message from Linet.

"I know what you're planning. Don't make the same mistake I did. The truth you're chasing will destroy you. Stop before it's too late."

Jayden clenched his fist, the message burning through him. What was Linet trying to tell him? Was she warning him because she cared, or because she feared what he might uncover? He didn't know anymore. He was surrounded by enemies cloaked as allies, each with their own agenda. But he was not afraid. Not yet.

---

In another part of the city, Caroline stood at the edge of her penthouse balcony, her hands gripping the railing tightly. The cold night air nipped at her skin, but it was nothing compared to the chill in her heart. She could still hear the words of the voice on the phone, echoing in her mind.

"You're out of time. He's getting closer to the truth, and when he does, you'll have nowhere to hide."

Caroline's mind raced. She had betrayed Jayden once, and it had cost her everything. Her freedom. Her reputation. But there was more at stake now—far more than she had ever anticipated. Jayden wasn't the same man he once was. He had changed, hardened by the knowledge of his father's secrets, and he wasn't going to stop until he had every answer.

But as much as she hated herself for what she'd done, a part of her still hoped Jayden would forgive her. Maybe he would—if she helped him now. But was it too late?

---

At the same time, deep within the shadows of the underworld, Tielen was meeting with Jeff. The two men sat across from each other in a darkened room, the air thick with unspoken tension. Tielen had always been a man of few words, but tonight, even he couldn't hide the gravity of the situation.

"You know what happens if he finds out, right?" Jeff's voice was low, the weight of their situation hanging in the air like smoke.

Tielen leaned back in his chair, his eyes dark. "It's too late to turn back now. Jayden is already involved. There's no going back for any of us."

Jeff snorted, a trace of anger in his eyes. "You think he'll forgive us? After everything?"

Tielen didn't respond immediately. Instead, he stared at the map on the wall in front of him, his mind racing with the implications of their actions. "It's not about forgiveness. It's about survival. And right now, the only way out is to make sure Jayden doesn't uncover the full truth."

---

Hours later, Jayden arrived at the old warehouse on the outskirts of the city, the place where Tielen had arranged to meet him. The night had grown heavier, the moon hidden behind thick clouds, making the air feel thick with secrets.

He entered the dimly lit warehouse, his senses on high alert. The smell of dust and oil filled his nose, the sound of his footsteps echoing as he moved further into the shadows. He could feel the weight of the moment pressing down on him. Tielen was here—he knew it. And so was the truth.

"Tielen?" Jayden called, his voice cutting through the silence.

A low laugh echoed from the darkness. Tielen stepped into view, his face illuminated by the faint light filtering through the cracks in the building. He was smiling, but it wasn't a smile Jayden trusted.

"You finally came," Tielen said, his voice dripping with amusement. "I wondered how long it would take."

Jayden's heart raced. "What's this about, Tielen? What aren't you telling me?"

Tielen's expression shifted, his smile faltering as the weight of the situation settled in. "You really think you can dig up the past and come out unscathed?" he asked, his voice suddenly cold.

Jayden's eyes narrowed. "What do you mean?"

Tielen's eyes locked onto his, and for a moment, there was a flicker of something—guilt, fear, or maybe something deeper. But it was gone as quickly as it appeared. "You don't want to know, Jayden. You've already lost too much."

Jayden took a step forward, his voice firm. "I'm not leaving until you tell me everything. I need to know what's really going on."

For a moment, there was silence. Then Tielen spoke again, his words slow and deliberate. "You think your father's death was an accident, don't you? That everything that's happened to you since has been just bad luck? No, Jayden… it was planned. And you're walking right into the trap."

---

The words hung in the air like a bomb waiting to go off. Jayden's mind raced as he processed what Tielen had just revealed. His father's death wasn't an accident? He had always suspected there was more to the story, but hearing it out loud—he wasn't ready for it.

The world around him seemed to blur as he tried to make sense of everything. The past, the present, the lies, the betrayals. It was all a tangled web, and Jayden was caught in the center, surrounded by enemies he couldn't trust and truths he wasn't ready to face.
