The wind outside howled like a wounded beast, but inside the palace, it was Princess Ariana's voice that echoed loudest.
"You must do as I say!"
"I am sorry, your highness, I have already been assigned to a task" Odi responded flatly, her heads bow as she tries to remain composed.
Ariana had siezed the opportunity to get rid of Odi considering the fact that King Darius was away.
Her desire to get rid of her worsened when she realised King Darius sent Odi a letter.
"You think you're special because he touched you?" Ariana sneered, towering over Odi in the servant's corridor. Her golden gown shimmered, a cruel contrast to Odi's plain, dust-stained tunic. "You're filth. You belong in the gutters, not in the king's arms."
Odi remained still, jaw clenched. Her hands trembled—not in fear, but in fury.
"Say something, slave," Ariana hissed. "Defend yourself. I heard you go around fighting anyone that speaks against your insolence!"
