Carter was meditating at his garden when he saw her,she had droven in and was alighting. The view he saw took his breath away, she looked different in casual clothing, her short black hair complimenting her glowing skin and jacket. Although she looked stressed, she her prettiness was not suppressed. Carter was subconsciously beginning to rethink his decision of not having anything to do with the female gender, when he noticed she was coming towards him.
"Good morning sir" she greeted cheerfully smiling as she got to him.
He was taken aback by her smile,he was sure he had seen it somewhere but he couldn't place it. Masking his perplexity, he discarded her cheerful greeting with a nod and motioned her to join him inside the mansion as he pressed the button on his wheelchair, wheeling himself in without casting a second glance at her.
"Such a grumpy gran", Ava muttered under her breath as she trailed behind him. Ava had gotten used to his grumpy and cold attitude but she felt different today and wanted to switch things up—a response from him at the barest minimum would have confirmed the goodness of the day she felt but the stoic leopard could never change his spots, could he?.
They got to work straight away and were so engrossed that they didn't even realize that the sun had gone down.
"Dinner is served sir" Carter's private chef announced standing at the entrance of his office.
"Oh okay" Carter responded absentmindedly before suddenly realizing it was evening.
"You should go ahead to dinner, I'll join you when I freshen up" he said lightly as he began to reverse his wheelchair, leaving no room for a response.
This was the first time he was inviting her to dine with him, the private chef usually parked meals for her to take home at the close of work and they tasted really good. She expected something quite elaborate but she was dazzled by what she saw.
The dining area reeked of class, one would think it was for an ancient royal palace if not for the morden furniture and breathtaking chandelier's that filled the room with an excellent ambience.
The dining table was arrayed with quite a number of delicacies and the chef did a fantastic job with the presentation that Ava didn't know she had gasped when her eyes met the goodness that lay in front of her.
"The boss is quite picky and indecisive hence, all of this..."The chef quickly explained motioning his hands to the variety of dishes as he smiled knowingly.
"No way you have to go through this every single day" Ava exclaimed as the chef pulled out a chair for her.
"The pay is good, but that aside, let's get you filled up" he said eager for Ava to try out some of his award winning recipes that Carter would never compliment even if the taste could fire up ones test buds, the private chef knew he was good but his chef's ego needed some validation and this was a golden opportunity.
Carter stood at the entrance watching the chef grin from ear to ear as Ava ate goofingly,he had decided to stretch his legs after sitting for so long, the pain he felt was mild, almost non-existent. Her expressions made the chef swell with pride—clearly, they were having a good time.
'Nonsense', Carter thought in irritation as he continued watching their merry moment. He paid his chef handsomely and didn't see the need to give him accolades for his skills, kind words and accolades didn't get him to where he was today, the numbers and the results did,he was reasoning when he noticed things were beginning to get chaotic at the dinning table.
Ava was turning red,he could see her choking as the chef fumbled around in confusion before finally rushing to the kitchen.
"Leonard!" Carter called to the chef as he rushed towards Ava who was already crouching on the floor and shaking uncontrollably.
"Are you okay? What is wro..." he was saying as he tried to make her sit up when he felt a splash of warm smelly liquid on his chest.
"You didn't just throw up on me!" He yelled as he tore his shirt away from his body.
