NADIA
I didn't look back. I couldn't.
My legs moved on instinct, lungs burning with every breath as I tore through the thickening woods.
Branches scratched my arms, the earth was uneven beneath my feet, but I kept going. Fast. Desperate. Alone.
Night had already swallowed the sky. Only the quiet rustling of trees and the distant call of birds echoed in the darkness.
It was too quiet…too calm for the storm screaming inside me.
"Congratulations. You're pregnant," the doctor had said.
Those words clung to my mind like thorns, replaying over and over again. Each time they echoed, I felt more broken. My legs had nearly buckled when I heard them.
I was frozen in place, afraid to breathe. My whole body shook…trembled like it was rejecting the truth.
I never thought the nightmare Max forced upon me would go this far. I never imagined it would leave something behind. A life. A child.
What do I do now?
How do I raise a baby that came from so much pain?
