Chapter 26 - Empty threats on national television

Security threw Claus out of the Greenleaf main quarters on Monday. The whole shit show went down in front of the paparazzi: the two big muscle guards lifting the young blonde by his armpits like a sack of dead weight and throwing him on the ground along with his possessions. No word of warning, nothing, just pure malicious obey of orders. He knew exactly who ordered them to do that, who invited the press and who subjected himself to the greatest humiliation of his life.

Claus could hear the voices of the interviewers around him, all nipping at his downfall like a pack of vultures just for some news nobody actually cared about. He took a moment to sink in all the humiliation and dread he felt sitting on the ground before rising, gathering his belongings and arranging his tie.

Thank you all for gathering here today, Claus cleared his voice. As you can see, I am no longer the representative of Greenleaf Pharmaceuticals. I signed a contract not to divulge any of the intel about the firm. My life could even be in danger if I were to do so, but I'm already at rock bottom, chuckled the man.

With the attitude of a man who's got nothing more to lose, he looked straight into the camera and spoke in a clear voice:

-My dear S., you have about 6 hours to give me what I want. Or to let me supervise.

-What are you talking about, Mister Flagnel? Who is S and what do you wanna supervise?

Claus ignored the questions.

-Kill me if you can. If you do, an automatic leaker would ruin you in my absence. You should know better than anyone that I am hard to get rid of.

Claus met Sanchez for the first time fifteen years ago. They were roommates in a secret institute outside the country.

When he first arrived, Claus was still going through a transformation. Since he shared an innocent kiss with Luther, his second gender switched from a beta to an alpha in a desperate attempt for his body to survive.

So, even after he woke up from his coma, after his fight with his beta parents who couldn't prosper the same anymore since their son became unsafe to be Luther's playtime partner and only friend, after he was sent outside the country and used as a research lab rat, Claus was still feeling the repercussions of his gender change.

The nights were the hardest. He was convulsing so hard that he needed to be tied up to the bed most nights. His parents stopped sending money after a while, leaving him at the mercy of the staff who was already overcrowded with dumped kids nobody cares about. That meant no treatment for him, no soothing pills, no attention from the nurses. He was tested on and then left as some kind of sick experiment to see if he could pull through.

He was cold and scared. His only comfort was he would evade one day and see Luther again. He thought about how lonely he must feel too, dumped by his only friend. What did his parents tell him? That he was dead? He was alive, but hated him?

His heart shrank at the image of Luther crying heartbroken because of him. All because he was greedy. He hurt him, he abandoned him, it was all his fault. All because he got greedy. Because he wanted more from Luther, more than their parents would have ever allowed, more than his body would have resisted, more than he could have handled it.

-Hi there!

A little boy with his head shaved greeted him after the first week he was there. He thought he had his room, but the previous night they brought the fragile boy completely sedated and threw him in the bed next to Claus's. He just woke up then.

Claus looked at him. He was patched up around his eyes. His bandages leaked blood, but the fact he was wrapped like that meant his parents still cared about him. Claus felt a disgusting wave of jealousy washing over him. He turned his back, the gesture entirely pointless given the obstructed vision of the little boy.

-Not much of a talker, huh? Well, fine by me. You seem like a guy who can keep a secret. So here's one: one day, I'll burn this shithole down with all the assholes tied up. They will roast nicely and I'll be sure to cook fucking marshmallows on their ashes.

Claus decided to never stay with his back turned to this guy ever again. The way he chuckled like he said the funniest thing brought shivers down Claus's spine. He'll never make him his enemy.

At least, until now- fifteen years after on public television. And unknown to the blonde alpha, just like that first time they met over a decade ago, no matter what obstruction he had in front of his eyes, Sanchez could see just how much of a threat he was. And just like that, the thrill of crushing this insolent, arrogant, greedy weeper was making him burst with laughter.

After all, while he was busy making empty threats on a lame television channel nobody cared about, he had the love of his life cut open on his surgical table barely alive.

-Come at me, mumbled Sanchez in a chuckle before redirecting his attention back at Luther.
