When Tony Stark tells you to prove yourself, you don't hesitate.

You deliver.

I stood in Stark Tower's R&D lab, surrounded by cutting-edge technology. Floating holographic blueprints filled the air, displaying designs more advanced than anything on Earth.

I had everything I needed—except a clear idea of what to build.

Because I knew too much.

Nanotechnology? Too early.

AI assistants? J.A.R.V.I.S. was already perfect.

Energy weapons? Tony was already working on miniaturizing the Arc Reactor.

I needed to make something that would:

1. Impress Tony.

2. Be achievable with current technology.

3. Help me survive in the dangerous world I knew was coming.

I leaned against the workbench, thinking.

Then it hit me.

I pulled up a holographic schematic of something simple—something Stark hadn't focused on yet.

A tactical enhancement suit.

Not an Iron Man suit. Something lighter, modular, and wearable under normal clothes.

I spent the next week in complete isolation.

Stark Tower had the best resources, but I still had to relearn everything.

Being reincarnated gave me knowledge, but knowledge wasn't skill.

I had to train my hands. Understand circuits. Code from scratch.

And it was frustrating.

I would make progress, only to hit a wall. The materials weren't right. The software glitched. The power source was unstable.

It made me realize something important.

Being a genius doesn't mean you're invincible.

I had to work for this.

One evening, I was fixing a bug in the suit's targeting system when I felt it.

A presence.

Someone was watching me.

I turned my head slightly.

Tony stood by the entrance, arms crossed, expression unreadable.

"How long have you been standing there?" I asked, not looking up.

"Long enough to see you destroy half my lab," he said.

I snorted. "That's an exaggeration."

"Really? Because I saw at least three sparks, one mini explosion, and I'm pretty sure a screwdriver caught fire."

I glanced at the smoking tool beside me. "…Okay, fair."

He walked over, looking at my holographic designs. "What's this?"

I straightened up. "A tactical undersuit."

Tony raised an eyebrow. "You're trying to make a stealth Iron Man suit?"

"No. Something lighter. The Iron Man suit is a war machine. I'm designing something for covert survival."

He gave me a curious look.

I continued, "A high-resistance undersuit that enhances reaction speed, absorbs impact, and has built-in HUD displays. It's flexible, lightweight, and blends with normal clothes."

Tony nodded slowly. He was interested.

"That's… actually smart," he admitted. "You're making something Stark Industries hasn't focused on."

I smirked. "Exactly."

He walked around the hologram, inspecting the schematics. "But how are you going to power this? Arc Reactors are too big, and batteries suck."

I grinned. I had solved that already.

I tapped a console, and a small wrist-mounted device popped up.

"I made a miniaturized energy cell," I said. "It's not Arc Reactor level, but it's enough to power the suit's enhancements for a few hours."

Tony picked up the device, turning it in his hand.

"…Not bad," he muttered.

High praise, coming from him.

He placed it back down and looked at me.

"Alright, kid. Let's see if it actually works."

A few days later, we tested the prototype in the Stark Tower training area.

I stood in front of a row of automated turrets, heart pounding.

The suit was tight, flexible, and lined with carbon-weave plating that could disperse force.

Tony stood on the observation deck, grinning.

"Alright, kid. Let's see if your toy can handle live fire."

Before I could protest, the turrets activated.

Shit.

I barely had time to move before bullets sprayed the area.

My body reacted instinctively. I dodged, twisting out of the way. The suit's enhanced response system kicked in, reading my movements and sending micro-impulses to help me move faster.

The bullets that hit? The suit absorbed the impact.

I landed in a crouch, breathing hard.

Tony's voice crackled through the speakers.

"Huh. You're still alive. That's unexpected."

I rolled my eyes. "You're enjoying this way too much."

He smirked. "Alright, let's crank it up."

The turrets switched to stun rounds.

I barely dodged in time.

Okay, this is actually insane.

The suit's HUD flashed warnings, tracking trajectory predictions. I twisted, narrowly avoiding another blast.

I used the momentum to slide forward, grab a discarded metal pipe, and hurl it at one of the turrets.

It hit dead center. The turret sparked and shut down.

Silence.

Then—applause.

I looked up.

Tony was clapping, looking genuinely impressed.

"…Alright," he said. "Not bad. I'd say that's about a B+."

I smirked. "B+?"

He shrugged. "Hey, gotta leave room for improvement."

I shook my head, laughing.

But deep down, I felt something else.

For the first time…

He was taking me seriously.

Later that night, I stood on the balcony of Stark Tower, looking out at New York.

The city was still recovering from the Chitauri invasion.

I clenched my fists.

Sokovia was next.

I had two years.

Two years before HYDRA took over. Before Ultron happened. Before the Avengers fell apart.

I wasn't going to sit around and wait.

I was going to prepare.

I touched the wrist module, feeling the power beneath my fingertips.

I had built something great.

But it was only the beginning.

I had to get stronger.

Because when the time came…

I wasn't going to lose anyone ever again.

Not Wanda.

Not Pietro.

Not my family.

Never again.
